Villa Margarita, Jade Bay is a beautiful new area on the spectacular Riviera Maya south of Playa del Carmen. The bay forms a white coral sand, crescent beach that's similar to Akumal Bay, an easy stroll away. Villa Margarita is one of few villas on Jade Bay. The privacy and security is superb, yet a variety of shopping, restaurants, snorkeling and recreation are only minutes away.
Villa Margarita provides over 3,000 square feet of luxurious living that can accommodate up to 10 guests. This lovely villa also offers full maid service and a grounds keeper 6 days per week. Continental breakfast is served daily, except weekends. There are four large air conditioned bedrooms, three upstairs and one down, each with it's own uniquely decorated bathroom and patio with ocean view. The individual decks open to private Caribbean ocean views and luxurious sea breezes. There will be no coin-toss for best bedroom in Villa Margarita, every bedroom is a master bedroom!
Three of the bedrooms have fixed king-size beds and one has a king that can separate into two twins; an arrangement for any group. Also, on the second floor there is an air conditioned and fully equipped satellite TV room with VCR and DVD player, 2 futon sofa beds, shared bathroom and its own private patio overlooking the jungle and the village of Akumal.
The living room and dining room face the ocean on the first floor where a wall of sliding patio doors invites you to enjoy the refreshing pool only 3 steps away as well as the Caribbean surf just beyond. Behind, as you face the ocean, is a sit-up bar connected to the kitchen via an open archway. Two steps lift you to the foyer, splashed in natural light spilling in from the cupola above. You look up through the oval opening in the ceiling, through the second floor with its iron railing, to the ceiling of the second floor where a high, brick domed cupola spills natural light throughout! There are ceiling fans everywhere.
Off the foyer you enter the modern and fully equipped kitchen with an expansive view over the bar to the dining room and beyond to the pool and ocean - a perfect place to prepare a meal or those Margaritas for Happy Hour around the pool. If you prefer casual outdoor cooking, you will want to use the propane fired barbecue and outdoor kitchen and wet bar located beside the front entrance. Off of the foyer and near the stairs, you will find the half bath/ powder room as well as the entrance to the main floor bedroom. The furnishings are Mexican with brilliant Caribbean style fabrics. From the living room and dining room you exit to a covered patio that borders the refreshing pool with safe depths for kids and adults.
Need to call family or friends? The house is equipped with a telephone. Just pick up a calling card in town. High speed internet is only a mile up the beach in Akumal.
Imagine yourself swaying in a hammock under the beachside palapa or relaxing in a poolside lounge, looking out to the turquoise ocean, enjoying the gentle breeze and the rustle of coconut palms. Cruise the bay in the villa's sea kayaks. Try a guided fishing tour, snorkel trip or scuba dive for an exciting day. Heaven might be a copy of this!
If you prefer an even higher perch for afternoon sunning, evening cocktails or star gazing at night, take the spiral stairway to the panoramic roof for a fantastic view of the surrounding ocean and jungle. You can even sleep under the stars!
Continental breakfast of toast, butter & jam, cereal and sweet rolls with coffee, juice and milk will be served Monday - Friday by the maid who is an excellent cook. Home cooked Mexican meals can be prepared and served for you with a minimum of 48 hours notice. Upon request and also with just a minimum of 48 hours notice, a free meal will be provided with reservations of 7 days or more.

Bengt P. from 14940, Nynäshamn recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in January, 2017 It was a very nice house and it was very nice situated by the water. We had a very good maid and the man how cleaned the pool and looked over the garden. On the negative side was the info about the things to do in the area the firm who does the trips around Acumal didnt work anymore. So please look up your info to guests so it is up to date.
Maria Claudia P. from Pcia., Buenos Aires recommends this property. GRACIAS!!!!!
I can't think of anything that would have made this trip better
A guest from Eagle, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2016 The pictures really don't do this place justice. 4 beautiful staterooms, each with a sliding door to the ocean. Three rooms have kings with one having two twins that form a king bed. Beds were comfortable. The house is just comfortable and beautifully maintained - comfortable chaise lounges, hammocks, tables and chairs. We were always able to find either shade or sun in the yard. The yard is up from the beach a few feet which provided great privacy from neighbors strolling the beach. The pool is beautifully maintained and refreshingly cool. The ocean in front of the house is rocky so you'll want water shoes but it stays shallow for a long distance and was a very comfortable temperature. We enjoyed the 4 kayaks (2-2 man and 2-1 man) and provided life vests. It is a 10 minute comfortable beach walk to town.Irene kept the home clean and tidy and kept us well fed. She was a delight to see each day. She prepared our continental breakfast including cooking eggs we provided, the included meal was delicious. We asked her to prepare guacamole and pico de gallo daily and paid additional for that as well as an additional meal that she prepared for us with her husband.I was really impressed with Akumal - no vendors (except for the ones trying to sell snorkel tours right in town), the food in the local restaurants was exceptional and very inexpensive. We enjoyed the Lol Ha, Turtle Bay Bakery and La Buena Vida several times each. This was one of the best vacations we've had.We never saw/met the property manager but all of our needs were met by the on-site staff so it was not a problem.
Jeremy S. from New York City, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2015 We had a fantastic family vacation here with 2 grandparents, 2 couples and 3 kids age 3-5. The adults loved the view, clean house. delicious meals from the staff, coconuts fresh from the tree, and wandering the beach. The kids loved the pool (shallow in 1 end), space to run, kick a soccer ball, or play in the sand, all without leaving the premises. The beach is a little tricky as it's really rough "Iron Shore" when you enter the water in front of the house. It was fine for playing in the sand next to the water, but when we wanted to swim or snorkel we would walk 5 minutes south to a sandy entry, or 15 min north to Akumal Bay. Either place had great swimming and snorkeling. We felt very safe and enjoyed how quiet the area was. Any minor issues were addressed immediately, and recommendations from the property manager for spas, masseuse, and food were fantastic. We wouldn't hesitate to rent here again. Overall - Loved it.
Alanna F. from Belmont,, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2015 We just got back from a week's stay in Villa Margarita, and it was wonderful! We were a group of 8 -- two families with 4 children ranging from aged 7-10. The house was perfect for the kids: the pool, layout of the house, the beach right there, and the hammock was a huge hit, as well. The house was spacious -- each family felt like they had their own space and also great open space together. The kitchen is big and allowed for all of us foodies to cook and mix cocktails at the same time. Lots of loungers outside so we all could enjoy the b'ful view and sun. Great shade with palm trees, as well. We even booked massages through the wonderful property manager Jorge and had them outside under the palms. Heaven!Irene took such wonderful care of us -- she came in each morning and made and cleaned up breakfast and cleaned the whole house, making beds, sweeping up all the sand from the kids....everything. She also made us a dinner one night which was fantastic. The house is in such a perfect location. We had never been in this area before. Akumal is a cute town, with lots of restaurants and snorkeling and close to all the activities. We loved La Buena Vida -- a restaurant on the beach with a pool, hammocks, beanbags. So fun for old and young. We also loved that we were only 20 minutes from Tulum. We spent a lot of time there enjoying the beaches and the Boho vibe.We loved Villa Margarita and would definitely recommend it!
Rebecca H. from Silver Spring,, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2015 We spend a week at Villa Margarita with 9 adults and 2 1 year old babies. The Villa was lovely and perfect for our needs. We were greeted with beer, pico de gallo, and guacamole in the fridge when we arrived - a wonderful sight after traveling all day! Irene and Ouseal, the house staff, were fantastic, and the house was great. All in all, a fantastic vacation!
Susan B. from San Clemente,, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2014 The house was well maintained, a little musty when we first arrived, but find the second day forward. The location is beautiful but the beach was less than we expected with rocks making it impossible to enter the ocean from the back yard. The staff were wonderful and I would recommend having Irena cook for you. She made two fantastic meals for us. Would look for a house with a sandy beach if I returned.
Wendy F. from Canon City,, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in June, 2014 2000 characters is not enough to describe by vacation experience at Villa Margarita on Jade Bay in Akumal. The cliff notes version would be wonderful accommodations, amazing food prepared by Irene, beautiful people (Elias, Irene, Uziel, Miguel, Tomas), great views, within walking distance to local beach bar, grocery store, dive shop, gift shops, short collective drive to cenotes, Tulum for the most amazing seafood at Camelo's, away from it all, Turtles, turtles, turtles, massage at the Villa by Misael, and I haven't even touched the surface. This was my favorite vacation of all times (and that's saying a lot). I can't recommend this villa and it's staff enough. But please don't have it booked the next time I want to go! Love and miss everyone there.
Glenna L. from Calgary,, AB recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2014 We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful villa in Akumal. Everything was ideal from the stunning view of the ocean and grounds to the super amenities this villa has to offer. We would definitely recommend this to friends. We kayaked, snorkelled, scuba dived, enjoyed fantastic restaurants within walking distance and squeezed in three massages on the upper balcony between our water sports. A great time and thank you to the owners for sharing their slice of paradise. Glenna and Derek Logan
Neil B. from Tulia, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 Perfect! Lots of room, centrally located, perfectly secure with multiple security guards who took great care of our kids and showed them turtles at night. Turtles and eggs everywhere. Beautiful yard and pool with lots of great activities.
Kelli N. from Los Angeles,, California recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2011 The house is 100 times better than the pictures. So shady and tropical. There are ao many places to sit back and rejuvenate. Every need is accounted for throughout the house. The managers before and during our stay were most accommodating. The location is a perfect jumping point to all the sites in and around the area.
Thomas W. from Minot, SD recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2009 The only issue we had was the air conditioners were noising and seemed to freeze up and then leak water. We only ran before going to bed and then at maybe 24 or 25. They were also noisy. Otherwise, very nice and worked great.
A guest from Buenos Aires, recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2008 This is the second year we visit Villa Margarita. We fell in love last year with it and decided to repeat the story. The house is very comfortable and is able to accomodate a party of 10 without problems (in our case it was 10 of us plus 2 babies). Everything is very clean and very well maintained. Rooms are spacious and all have their own bathroom. House staff is very helpful and friendly.Ths house has 24 hour security, during the day the handyman looks after the house and at nigh there is a security guard hired by the owners. Although the area is very safe this "detail" provided us with great comfort. The house sits by a very beautiful unspoiled beach. The reef meets the sand and is very easy to watch sea life a few steps from the door. This characteristc though makes swimming a little difficult (specially for children) since there is no clean-of-coral acces to the sea. Nontheless, just half a mile walk to Akumal beach sorts out this problemAll in all a great place that we highly recomend.
Joy S. from Olympia, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2007 Skip Cancun- everything you want to do is down by Akumal anyway! The food was amazing, and the accomodations perfectly relaxing. Take the trip over to snorkel in the lagoon! The cave snorkeling trip nearby is also well worth it. But if you never leave the house, you would still have an amazing vacation!
