Quick Get Away
A guest from Lithia, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2015 It was a beautiful place but not quiet like I expected. Upstairs units need carpeting as it was very noisy when they just walked across the room. Our room was clean and comfortable. And the shells on the beach were spectacular.I would recommend this vacation but not this unit unless no one was upstairs.
Debra D. from Cape Coral, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2015 This was a nice area for us to explore, as we are only 1 1/2 hrs. away. Very relaxing, and low-key. Beach was great! Returned very distressed!
A guest from Plymouth, MI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2015 Way over priced! Price gouging from the Ferry ride to the golf cart rental. Service was so so. Restaurant food below average.
Renate D. from Bonita Springs, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2015 From the minute you arrive until departure, enjoyed every minute, rain or shine, great location, could not ask for a better costumer service, villa at great location, clean and well kept. The food in the restaurant fabulas, drinks....yummy!
A guest from Nashville, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2015 We were the first to arrive in our party of 60(wedding party) and they seemed to be very understaffed. When we tried to rent a golf cart, we were dropped off by the bellman at the golf cart rental facility and he just left us there with no way to get back and no way to navigate the island (they closed early that day). Luckily I was able to call the front desk and ask for the bellman to come back and pick us up. It was made very clear that everyone was trying to leave early for the day and that we were holding them up from that. We were also told that "some of the units have wifi" and specifically requested that we have wifi. Upon arriving, none of the units have wifi, no matter what they tell you. We took up most of the island with our party and there was no wifi except at Coconuts, which as I mentioned, closes whenever they feel like it! If you are the type who needs to respond to work emails, you should make other arrangements ahead of time. We were asked repeatedly by the same staff members if we were "actually staying on the island" (implying that we were just bumming on their beach). We tried to call the front desk over and over several times and no one was answering, and when they did, they seemed put out with our questions. One of the pools, several villas, and the main reception area were under construction, which the bride was not informed of when we all booked. Finally, by the last day (during the check out process, oddly enough), everyone seemed suddenly concerned with how our stay was. Thankfully, we are pretty laid back people, but for the amount of money we paid to be here a week, there were definitely people in our party who were not pleased. Our villa, however, was gorgeous and in a prime location. The wedding planners did an awesome job coordinating everyone and making sure the event went smoothly. Overall, I give this resort a 4 star rating only because we were neglected by staff.
Tom T. from Lakeland, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 Our first visit was an experience we will talk about for a long long time. From the first minute we walked around with our mouths open in amazement. Too much for words. It is a must see and even more a must experience.
Richard B. from Longwood, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2015 We LOVE coming to Palm Island Resort every year. The property is clean and well kept. Going to the pool after a day at the beach is a refreshing ending. Grilling out every night on the grill provided is perfect. Our unit could use some updating but was very comfortable.
Patrick R. from Weekiwachee, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in November, 2014 we enjoy the island very much my mom and dad lived on the island for 20 years. do to there passing we now stay at the next best place palm island resort.
A guest from Wellington, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2014 Palm Island Resort is a very beautiful place. If you are looking to just relax and get away from it all, this is the place.
Dustin W. from Fort Myers, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2014 Excellent, relaxing time. No vehicle noise, no one on the beach but my wife and me. Couldn't have asked for a better way to get away from work!
A guest from New Albany, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2014 The view from the villa was amazing and the island was very charming. I ate at the Rum Bay restaurant during my stay and really enjoyed it. I was only there for a few days so I did not get a chance to experience everything on the island. The only thing I wasn't as impressed with was the villa itself. While it was fairly nice it was very outdated. I know they are all owned independently so I guess that is to be expected. It definitely needed a good cleaning though. Overall I was satisfied with my stay on the island.
Kathy S. from Punta Gorda, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2014 Special thanks to Debbie Curtis who thoughtfully surprised my "birthday boy husband" with a ribbon bedecked bottle of wine that we thoroughly enjoyed. (Left the bottle opener on the dining room table.) The location of 3111 was perfect, the view spectacular. However, ALL appliances need to be replaced! Kitchen is sparsely equipped, bed linens - including mattress cover - are despicable, carpeting has sharp objects embedded in certain areas, and the bathroom really should have a 21st century toilet installed. The disappointment to me was that when we decided to make a quick trip to New York and Boston and I called Marti to move our rental from the 5th of August to the 6th, she commented that would be fine and that I would then have a much nicer condo that would be available from the 6th to the 8th. I've lived here since 1974 and have spent many get-away vacations on Boca Grande (owned a condo on Manasota Key), but had never visited Palm Island, even though friends (Mike & Lorraine Grant, Lane & Melinda Dietrich, et al) have recommended it to me many times. We'll be back, but hope to have better accommodations. The entire staff is to be complimented for its genuine friendliness and assistance. Sincerely, Kathy StraytonP.,S,Incidentally, we left the condo in immaculate condition.
A guest from Clearwater, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in June, 2014 The resort is a tranquil, tropical retreat. I would recommend requesting a top floor unit. There is little to no insulation between floors and simply walking around is loud. Also, the staff at the golf cart rental/island store help but aren't terribly happy to be there.
Ryan K. from Palmetto, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2014 Overall our stay was good, but the weather was terrible. However, I understand the resort has no control of that. The room was a bit dated but had the weather been better I probably wouldnt have been in the room so much. Ideally it would be nice if there was some other food option too. The water taxi wasnt running so our only restaurant option was Rum Bay. It would have been nice to have another option, but again this probably wouldnt have been an issue had the weather been better. All and all our stay was good though, the staff was very friendly and the area is beautiful. I would love to experience the resort with some better weather. Im sure it would have been amazing. The beautiful weather came our just in time for us to leave on Sunday.
Denise J. from Central City, Iowa recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 This is the most amazing, quiet, laidback, friendly place. Only pedestrians ,bikes and golf carts allowed. Everything was amazing. Just a HUGE note: Florida has "no-see-um" bugs. Make sure you are covered in bug spray with deet...or skin so soft to keep them away. They are vicious biters and the itch and sting is worse than poison ivy and lasts two weeks. So....the bugs were our only con to the no fault of the resort. I would highly recommend the sunset cruise with Capt Kelly. Seeing the dolphins swim up to the boat was amazing along with learning so much about the area and wildlife. We will definitely be returning to PALM ISLAND RESORT, hopefully in the near future.
Albert H. from Zephyr Cove, NV recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2013 Everything was first class. The employees are very helpful and well versed on the accommodations and the area in general.
Angela S. from Ocoee, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2013 This was our third trip to Palm Island and our first time staying in a two bedroom unit. The unit was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved the large porch overlooking the ocean. It was the perfect place to eat breakfast and dinner! The master bathroom toilet was leaking all over the floor when we checked in but maintenance took care of the problem quickly. For a mid-level unit, I would definitely recommend this one.
Terri & Thomas G. from Green Bay, WI recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2013 We absolutely loved the resort (beautiful location, very charming all around) and the staff...everyone was very professional, kind and helpful and we would love to return someday soon. The only reason I gave 4 stars for the property's general condition was that the ceiling fan was broken in the lanai and our bathtub seemed to be slightly plugged as the water would build up during your shower. We did not say anything to the management about that as I'm sure they would have fixed it immediately and we probably should have so it wasn't a true negative. We did call about the fan (as we spent a lot of time on the lanai) and the maintenance person was very kind, but wasn't able to repair the fan at that time as I believe it was more involved. He offered to have that happen, but we were only there for a short time and wanted to enjoy our privacy so we said it could wait until after our stay.
Liz S. from Jacksonville, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2013 It is definitely one of Florida's best kept secrets. The views are breathtaking. Although the furniture was a bit outdated, the villa was clean and crisp. It had everything we needed; we only had to bring clothes, food and ourselves. We would definitely stay again.
Great getaway and introduced friends to Palm Island
A guest from New Port Richie, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 Came back to Palm Island Resort needing a nice, relaxing getaway, knowing we could get one here. Also, brought along friends to introduce them to the Palm Island "lifestyle". The resort never fails to satisfy. The villas were inviting and comfortable, the golf carts fun to explore in, and the pool and beach were relief from the Florida summer heat. The resort staff is friendly and accommodating. It has been over thirty years since our first stay here, and many since, and the experience remains consistent. We will return - in fact, we've already booked our next stay!
Cindee L. from Royal Palm Beach, Florida recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 The only down side about our stay was wading thru a foot of water to get to the beach, but Palm Island can't be faulted for that :)
A guest from Tampa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2013 We've been vacationing in PI for over 20 yrs. Our first stay was in the same 3111 unit. It is by far the best location, but the décor and kitchen don't seem to have changed at all. The unit really could use a major remodel. Suggestion for a ALL the units - get bar-height tables and chairs for the porches. The rail is in the worst place possible for a clear sight of that beautiful beach and Gulf! There is way too much light coming into the bedroom (the porch light on the road side cannot be turned off)to be able to sleep soundly. There either needs to be a light blocking window treatment or some way to turn off the outdoor light.Overall vacation was an absolute delight as it always is and we look forward to our next visit.
Richard B. from Longwood, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in May, 2013 Second visit to the Island. It was amazing. Can't wait to return, probably in August. I can't get enough of the beautiful setting.
Property Manager Response: Response from Palm Island Resort Richard, Thank you for your review of your recent stay at Palm Island Resort. We are always happy to hear that our guests have enjoyed their stay and will be returning. It?s the best praise! We do our best to make sure you enjoy not only your first stay, but that you want to come back!
A guest from Whitmore Lake, 48189 recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2013 Our condo had a great view of the ocean and we were close to the pool. we loved the kayaks, and ridding around looking at the near by homes via our gulf cart. The only negative thing we have to say is that we were staying in the bottom unit and did not like hearing the people in the unit above walking around over our heads.
A guest from Dunedin, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2012 The only reason for the four star rating on the villa was due to the date interior. I under they are privately owned and it is up to the owner to update. Overall the place was fantastic public areas were clean. Nice private beach for getting away. See you all again soon!
Steven N. from Valredo, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 Great view, beautiful beaches, the gulf, kayaking, fishing, the pool, the restaurants and staff were dandy. the bikes were a little long in the your own. lots to do every day and nothing to do, if you want. very limited internet access...Ya...bring your tennis racket if you want to spend any serious time on the net.
Betty C. from Miami Beach, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2012 The condo was very dirty. Dirty, old and stained bed sheets. Black mold on shower curtain. Air conditioning vents full of dust. The furniture and appliances were old and worn. We stayed on the first floor and could hear everything noise coming from the second floor. The resort itself was nice but the condo was terrible.
A guest from Sarasota, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 Overall I enjoyed my stay as usual. However the Beach Villa I stayed in was not very clean and the appliances need to be replaced. I was somewhat disappointed with the staff at Rum Bay, they were not as friendly as in past visits.
A guest from New York, NY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 The property and the villas are beautiful. The checkin experience was sloppy. I was given someone else's invoice originally to sign which I knew was several hundred dollars more expensive than mine should be and I was originally told I was mistaken. It took a while but they eventually figured it out. Same issue when the rehearsal dinner was moved on Friday night. I went to the designated venue. Nobody was there. I inquired at the office; they said I was wrong and the venue would not have been changed without them knowing it. Since the resort was catering it, I asked them to check where the food had been delivered and then they realized the event had been moved. There were several other occurrences of unprofessional behavior. I travel a lot internationally on business and this place definitely does not give the Ritz a run for its money.
A guest from asperham, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 We had a wonderful relaxing stay on Palm Island. Our villa was very "homey" and comfortable, and we enjoyed the ocean view. We enjoyed the food at the Rum Bay Restaurant and hope we can return soon. "our home town is actually Ashburnham, MA"
Annette S. from St. Pete, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in October, 2011 Overall, it was a neat place to go to. Just wished it was not raining all day :) The actual unit could use some updating, but was sufficient for an overnight stay. Great place to escape daily life and have some fun!
A guest from Orlando, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2011 Arrived at the peak of Red Tide. Dead fish littered the beach and the stench was enough to invoke the gag reflex. Canoe rentals: Call ahead and make sure they are available. Apparently they had not been secured during some storm before we arrived so they blew away and sank. Management office only open until 8:00PM so beware if you arrive late. Sand Spurs were EVERYWHERE. We had to vacuum the villa twice to get rid of the ones tracked in from outside. The villa was infested with sand fleas which were very active at night, as indicated by the bites all over my 2yr daughter.
Kristine O. from Spring Hill, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in September, 2011 Our friends got married on the island. Our experience started when we made our reservations. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Once we were there, the atmosphere made you feel wonderful. Accomodations made you feel at home. The wedding and reception were beautiful, the staff again were great. Hated to leave.... just an amazing place!!
A guest from Fenton, MO does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2011 the decorating was terrible, the lock on the sliding door was broken so there was no lock in the back, there was mold on the shower curtain and the garbage disposal did not work. This was a second choice as the one I love and have stayed in for many years is no longer being rented.
A guest from Englewood, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in July, 2011 The resort is beautiful, the beaches are pristine, the views were terrific. However, the inside of the Villas are dated and the furniture is old and dusty. It is not senior or handicap accessible. The stairs at the villas can be challenging and walking to the beach difficult and far to walk on the soft sand. You need a beach umbrella for some sun protection. MARTY AT THE RESERVATION DESK AND DUSTIN IN COCONUTS WERE ESPECIALLY HELPFUL. DUSTIN HAD TO WEAR MANY HATS-MAKE THE WINE BASKET, RENT THE GOLF CART, RENT THE KAYAK AND HE HAD A GREAT ATTITUDE AND WOULDN'T TAKE A TIP. We were disappointed (except for the dessert) with the food at Rum Bay.
JAMES L. from LAKELAND, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 We have been reqesting and renting unit3 3111 for several years. We will not be requesting it again. The furniture is the same as when we first started renting it. Both televisions are the old ones. They are pitiful!!!!.We will make sure we do not stay in that unit (3111) next year. Jim and Nancy Lankster
A guest from Miami Beach, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2011 We had a lovely stay the unit was older but clean over all. Excellent view. The rental equipment is horrible! We had Kayak rental included in the cost of our package but they only have 2 single kayaks one had a broken back rest and one double kayak which also one back rest was broken, you can't kayak without a back rest. The ores for the Kayak were also broken. The bicycle rentals, picnic basket we not much better. Palm Island is really beautiful but they must maintain the rental equipment and they should have more than just 2 individual and 1 double Kayak with all the units they have in the resort.
Sandra S. from Valrico, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in June, 2011 We have been going to Palm Island off and on for about 25 years and have always had a good time. Some of the units are better equiped than others but in general, they all have just about everything you will need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
My family has been going to Palm Island for many years. We have celebrated my parent 50th, 55th, 60th and 65th Anniversaries and
Myrna F. from orlando, florida recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2011 This is a great condo since the walkway is right in the back of the condo and the pool is next to the building. It is also close to the restaurant. I am returning next month.
TED L. from KENNETH CITY, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in January, 2011 My wife and I decided at the last minute to make arrangements. I called while on the road on Saturday morning and spoke with Marty to see if they was an available one bedroom ocean view villa. By 2:00 PM we were on the island walking the beach and by 3:30 we were in our room. Everything was perfect. We love it so much we bought a gift certificate for my son as a wedding present so he can enjoy a week's stay during the summer.
Sherri & Thomas H. from Sarasota, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2010 Beautiful and breathtaking views, beach & landscaping. The complementary boat ride to and from Johnny Leverocks was fantastic and we even saw dolphins up close! Food was tasty and top notch service at Leverocks. Great experience all around & we look forward to staying again next year.
A guest from Lithia, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2010 It was my family's first visit and we loved every minute of it even with the rain. We will definitely be back next year (hopefully to 3111). Thank you for everything.
Our overall stay was wonderful. The unit we were in needs some work. Cabinet doors don't close properly, just some general mai
JUDY W. from CARY, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2009 We love Palm Island, have been there many times and will return again.

Property Manager Response: Response from Palm Island Resort Dear Ms. Pruitt, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to our survey. We apreciate you as a long term frequent visitor. I look forward to your next visit to Palm Island. DJ Cutler, Director of Hopsitality Operations
JAMES L. from LAKELAND, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in September, 2009 Merchandise in general store needs to be brought more up to date with more popular souvenir items with Palm Island logo on them.Icould't even find a decent golf shirt or cap! Unit #3111 is great. Wealways request it but, those old outdated TVs really need to be replaced!!!! See ya next year----
Property Manager Response: Response from Palm Island Resort Dear Mr. Ryan, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to our survey. We apreciate your time to add your comments. I will be sure to pass on your comments to our management staff and the owner of your villa. I look forward to your next visit to Palm Island. DJ Cutler, Director of Hopsitality Operations
A guest from Winter Park, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2009 We spent 3 nights and found the unit noisy from the residents above us especially at 3:30 in the morning. Sounded like a herd of elephants. Restaurant was fabulous but we found 3 deays more than enough. It's a great place if all you want to do is sit and read but there isn't much else to do unless you fish or kayak.
Kelley R. from Lithia, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2009 We have been yearly guests now at the Resort for about 6yrs. Each time we stayl, it is absolutely DEVINE. However, if I could make one recommendation it would be to add pix to the website. That way, guests would have the luxury of chosing the decor that would best fit their liking. Also, if there could be better choices as to the accomodations in the 2nd bedroom. My mother comes with us each year, and a twin bed is not as comfortable as maybe a double bed might be. Other than those very fixable accomodations, I would recemmend this resort to anyone with the desire to rest, relax and enjoy the serenity of Palm Island Resort. Most of all, Bobby in the reservation office deserves a round of applause. She is absolutley a joy to work with. She was extremely accomodating during our stay, with a smile on her face to boot. Love her!!!!!
Property Manager Response:
Dear Ms Robert, Thank you very much for responding to our survey. I will pass on your comments to Bobbie. She has been named Employee of the Month! We appreciate your time and we look forward to your next visit. DJ Cutler, Director of Hospitality Operations
A guest from CLEARWATER, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2009 We have been coming for over 20 years our kids have grown up there we have even gotten to know some of the locals. But this year the unit was by far the dirtiess and the oldest nothing updated. The bed was absolutley the worse mattress we have ever encountered. When you spend 300. a night that is equal to any 4 or 5 star hotel two things you should not have to worry about. Clean and updated unit and a decent bed to sleep on. We live on clearwater beach, so the view wasn't what we were coming for, rest and time away. Not sure we will attempt to come back!!
Property Manager Response:

Burt B. from Bronston, KY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in February, 2009 the bed was terrible. Harder than a rock. we tried to sleep on the fold out couch, again not recommended. View was beautiful. very peaceful and quiet. should have wireless internet for the resort. had to go to two locations to check email. not what I expect in a resort. heated pool was not heated. I left early.
Connie S. from Largo, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2008 The Resort was beautiful and peaceful. We really enjoyed it. The weather could of been better, we had some of the bands of Hurricane Gustaf and the weather was wild. I will go back again and hopefully the weather will be much better. Our unit was very nice and we had a wonderful view of the ocean. If you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of everyday life, this is a must to go and stay.
A guest from Palm Harbor, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2008 location fabulous, beach beautiful, furniture and decor very outdated and sparse, bed mattress was uncomfortable

A guest from San Antonio, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2008 We've been coming to Palm Island for the better part of 10 years, and it's always the best part of my year. Everything is just like it was when I was a kid, which is incredible. Everyone is friendly and happy, from the bellman that took our bags to the kid renting golfcarts at coconuts...a rare find these days. The beach was great as always. Thanks for another wonderful trip, we'll see ya next year!
Property Manager Response:

David E. from Booneville, AR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2007 My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The bungalow was awesome with a beautiful view of the ocean. We were there in March and it was really nice to be on a private beach with so few people. The staff were all friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the quality of food and service at the on island restaurant is not that good. However the water taxi docks at a very nice mainland restaurant, which is what I would recommend. Overall I would recommend this resort very highly.
