bugs in the couch
A guest from Rossford, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2016 Everything was very nice but as the other review stated 2 of the 3 of us ended up with a bunch of tiny itchy bug bites from laying on the couch!
Paul C. from Cape Haze, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2016 BEAUTIFUL BEACH HOUSE OVERLOOKING THE GULF OF MEXICO. IF YOU LIKE SHELLING, THIS IS THE PLACE.RUM BAY RESTAURANT HAS GOOD FOOD,REASONABLY PRICED. WE RECOMMEND RENTING A GOLF CART.
Donna B. from Ft. Myers, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2016 We had an outstanding visit at Palm Island Resort. We went off the grid while there and totally relaxed. It was like going to the Carribean and we were only an hour from home. Staff were all friendly and more than helpful. We are making this an annual getaway.
A guest from Port Charlotte, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in August, 2016 We stayed here for 3 nights and felt like forever. No one was around the time we were there. the beach is nice but you have to walk through marsh and you cant hear or see the beach. Upon checking in you receive a pool card that is for a designated pool for your villa. You cannot get into any other pool. We had 2 small children who needed shade and we had none at our pool. We asked the front desk for another pool card and she said no and they were booked. There were MAYBE 20 people there. And no one was using any of the pools. We rented a golf cart for something to do. And were able to go around the whole island, which was nice to see. Our villa needs to be updated but understand that it is a beach rental and you get what you get. Had everything you needed in the Villa including beach toys. You do feel like you are away from society, which is needed sometimes!
A guest from Cape Haze, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2016 First time visit to Palm Island and the vacation was a success. We liked that the island was golf carts only. The staff was courteous and had answers to all the questions we had. The "old Florida" scenery was beautiful and a perfect way to relax compared to the hustle and bustle of high rise condos/hotels on other Florida beaches. Our ocean front villa was adequately furnished and suited out needs. The only thing I would suggest is to do an occasional detailed cleaning (light switches, airflow return vents, etc). Thanks for the great week!
David C. from Fishers, IN recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2016 The location was good and we had a very relaxing vacation. The unit we stayed in was as expected (not updated). For the most part it was clean. The only thing that needed cleaned was the carpet had dirt spots and the return air vent needed cleaned. The staff was very nice and professional.
Danielle H. from Lutz, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 Very pleasant as usual. Had some weird noises coming from vent above microwave and the outlet for our golf cart didn't work but other than we had a wonderful time. The accommodations of our unit were just right. Helpful suggestion would be to include plastic containers for left over storage. Views were spectacular and we appreciate the free DVDs during the first three days of the vacation which were rainy. Loved the family scavenger hunt! The guide Kris was great. It was our first time trying Rum Bay - yum!!! Was a little bummed that I had the new Palm Island App but couldn't use it because of poor WiFi reception. That would be my only downfall - really need WiFi in all rooms and on the island. I really feel like I am being way too picky because we just love Palm Island and can't wait to come back!! Staff is friendly, grounds are clean, accommodations are perfect. The week was relaxing and pleasant - would love to see repeat customers get some special offers.
Randy G. from Tampa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 beatifut clear water, awesome fishing if you get live shrimp, nice large rental with everything you need to stay a while. great fun getting the golf cart life a try. Good food at the restaurant and nice people working there!!!
Silvia P. from Dunedin, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2015 I have been coming to Palm Island for many years now, and it does not disappoint ever! It is an amazing place, where someone can get a piece of quietness and relaxation. The nature, the beautiful beaches are just perfect. The get away from the craziness. I absolutely love it and go back at least once a year!
A guest from Beverly Hills, MI recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in April, 2015 Palm Island is an amazing destination. The PI Resort is a wonderful complex. We have been 5 times and we will be back.
Renee S. from Brownsburg, IN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2015 Great place and location! Very clean and loved having a golf cart. Only a couple poor experiences...one day we couldn't use the pool since it was as warm as the hot tub and were told we couldn't use one of the other pools. We also were charged twice for our golf cart and young staffer at first refused to give us full refund of the double charge. Overall we had a great time and would return.
A guest from Placida, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2015 We stayed in a two bedroom overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The condo was clean and well kept. Staff was friendly. Rum Bay Restaurant was very good. The car ferry only took 2 minutes to get across to the island. There were many tennis courts and there were 4 grills to use which made it easy to cook. Highly recommend.
Suzanne M. from Carlsbad Springs, ON recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2014 Suzanne M actually was not able to come. You could display it as Brenda B from Carlsbad Springs, ON. We stayed the week of Dec. 9-16/14. This is the 4th time I have stayed at your resort but the 1st time in this unit. Some units are set further away from the beach, but this one is among the closer ones. The unit was very clean and inviting. We absolutely love the beach for walking, shelling and watching amazing sunsets. Once again we had a most memorable week. The weather was a little on the cool side at the beginning of the week, but of course you can't control that. Remembering there was snow at home definitely helped. We went on the nature walk with Kris and learned so much. She was so knowledgeable about the island. We took the water taxi over to Leverocks for dinner one night. The gentleman driving the boat was hilarious and really added to the experience. We also ate at Rum Bay one night and the grouper fish and chips were fantastic. All in all a wonderful experience and memory. We will definitely be back next year and would again be interested in the same unit. We're already planning to do something special for our 5th visit.
A guest from Valrico, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2014 We love Palm island but this time we got a unit That needs work. One of the stove burner wasn't working, The walls can used fresh paint, and the guest bathroom wasn't Draining the water when we took a shower! We are coming back Just please make sure we don't get the same unit again.
A guest from Sarasota, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 Everything was perfect with the exception of two things out of your control. 1. The beach has grown so much now that my husband who is ill couldn't walk down there from the villa - but we took the golf cart to Stump Pass. 2. The fish weren't biting. Had a wonderful time!! (I did fill out a card and left it at the front desk to comment especially on how accomodating and friendly the staff were.)
Marian E. from Lutz, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2014 2811 was clean but furniture very uncomfortable, bed large but felt like sleeping on a marshmallow, kitchen utensils were old and pans unuseable. It was OK but as usual Palm Island itself was gorgeous and relaxing. Will return again but will request a different villa. Staff was great and restaurant was good, We will be back. thanks
Tracy F. from Boynton, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2014 We have been going to Palm Island on Memorial Day for over 20 years now. I love the relaxed and peaceful atmosphere and even when they are sold out it never seems crowded. I would recommend this resort to anyone especially those with kids.
Katherine M. from Pensacola, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2014 We had a great stay and the staff is very professional, courteous, and very willing to solve any issue that might arise. Recommendations for resort - include a map to nearest grocery store, include a checkout list, and inform folks that there are no groceries for sale at resort.
A guest from Baskin Ridge, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in December, 2013 If you are looking to enjoy nature on a beautiful, uncrowded beach, with all the comforts of home (except wifi!) this is your place. No cars - you drive around in a golf cart or on a bike. It's great for young families because your kids can have a lot of independence. No one gets on the island unless they belong there. There are tennis courts (and a tennis pro), pools, gas grills and nice modern condos.
Jill C. from Fort Myer, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013 Palm Island is wonderful place. Very relaxing and easy going. A perfect Romantic getaway. We enjoyed our stay. Although the restaurants where limited the food was good. We will be coming back.
Deborah G. from Ocala, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 We loved everything about our stay at Palm Island Resort- from the private beaches (the nearest people on the beach were about 50 yards away in both directions) to the restaurants located within the community to the abundance of seashells. We ventured onto shark tooth beach, and found the sea shell tree to be beautiful. The wildlife provided many photo ops. And finally, the landscaping was TOP NOTCH. People pay to visit Gardens just to view landscaping of this magnitude, and it's just the norm inside of this community. Simply beautiful!
Gary M. from Duneden, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 It is a rare occasion to find oneself sequestered away from "civilization" (strip malls and traffic jams) on to a desolate white sand gulf beach searching for seashells and sharks teeth and no apparent schedule to keep up with. That sums up my experience at Palm Island Resort. The villa offered all the modern conveniences with plenty of space, clean and comfortable. The resort staff was friendly and extremely kind and helpful. This is the best beach resort experience that my family has ever enjoyed. I hesitated to review this since I would prefer to keep it all to myself but I know there are many others out there looking for paradise and deserve the best. This is it.
A guest from Akron, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 This is the 3rd time we have stayed on the island in Palm Island Resort in one of the condos. It is always fantastic! The view from the condo was beautiful. Great views from nearly every room. The kitchen and bathrooms were furnished with everything we needed. The pool was right next door and lots of fun. We rented a golf cart for the week and enjoyed driving to the point in the evening to watch the sun set over Stump Pass. The bird and turtle sanctuary provides great exposure to the natural habitat of the gulf coast. Our stay included passes for the car ferry so we could easily travel between the island and the marina to use our boat. All of the staff were very helpful and very friendly. We will, of course, return for another stay.
A guest from Rex, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2013 The only drawback for me was that the master bath did not have a tub! The fullsized shower was fine but was planning on a few nice long bubble baths. It would have been nice to know this in advance. Most people wouldn't care. We had a great time. We have been coming to Palm Island about 13 years and love it! So relaxing!
A guest from Brooklyn Park, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2013 This is our third year at Palm Island Resort. We have stayed in 3 different 2 bedroom condo's all on the gulf. The first two have been in good repair and this year not as well. The master bedroom mattress has a sink hole in the middle. The curtains along the living room sliders only went half way across. The oven handle was loose and the microwave handle was cracked. While I love Palm Island Resort this unit should not be rented until fixes are completed.
Ren R. from Littleton, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2013 We loved our vacation. It was so peaceful and easy. The resort was fun for all 4 of us and had stuff that appealed specifically to our kids as well. Captain Red Beard was awesome. We definitely plan on coming back soon.
nancy h. from Punta Gorda, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2012 My sisters and I met for a mini family reunion and we had a great time. I think that the unit needs a coat of paint and some of the furniture needs to be replaced but other than that everything was wonderful.
Daniel K. from Lakeland, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2012 This was my 5th stay at the resort and it was the least satifactory. First, let me say that the management staff and all other personnel (Ko Ko, ferry, etc) were friendly and helpful. They all made you feel as if you were the most important person in their life. My problem was the general condition of the property. It appears that the unit hasn't been painted in years and is badly worn. The frame above the sliding doors over looking the Gulf has rust the whole length of the frame and the paint is peeling/bubbling on all the window frames. We used the washer & dryer just once and were afraid to use them again. The washer was so loud and "clanky" that I was afraid it was going to breakdown. The dryer wasn't much better. We had washed white towels and one of the towels was caught between the frame and tumbler and was very difficult to free. When I did get it out the towel had black grime on it where it was hung up in the dryer. The condition of each of the bathrooms was also unsatifactory due to the peeling/flaking paint.
A guest from TRINITY, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 The condo was really dated, furniture, amenities, etc. I didn't know that people still watched tube TV. Other than that, it was another enjoyable week on Palm Island.
A guest from Seminole, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 This was our 4th visit to Palm Island. It is a great place to get away from the everyday demands of life and enjoy nature's beauty - blue water and unbelievable sunsets. We'll be back.
Zair F. from Bufffalo, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2012 The mattress was worn, old, and extremely uncomfortable. Even the kids complained about the beds which is very unusual. Overall the condo was old and worn with few updates but clean.
Elizabeth M. from Tampa, Florida recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2012 We spent spring break with our young children at Palm Island and it was wonderful. The property, service, staff and beach was really wonderful. My children are already asking when we can return.
Matthew and Jessica B. from Sarasota, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2011 Condo was clean and well equipped. However there were roaches in the morning and management didn't not come and spray as they said they would. Otherwise, it's a great place to stay.
Stephanie G. from Tampa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2011 The property management was responsive but I was disappointed that I had to call on three separate issues with my villa. First, the AC compresser went out, then the towel bar and shower curtain kept falling in our unit and finally the dryer drum was broken and so the dryer literally detroyed two towels and a bathing suit cover up. I was in 2811 and the unit desperately needs a new dryer. I couldn't wash my beach towels or my children's suits as I had origianlly hoped. That was a pain.
LEE B. from ST LOUIS, MO recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in March, 2011 Great Location but unit had some problems.Guest bath towel bar $ shower curtain kept falling off. Some burned out bulbs. dirty carpet.
Staff was great, tennis pro wonderful, Susan and all in the reservations most pleasant. Condo was great.
A guest from Alachua, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2010 It's hard to please 8 women but we were all happy with our accommodations and the staff at the resort. We had wonderful tennis clinics and a round robin put on by the pro, Bill, who is a great coach. We are planning a return trip.
Shane R. from Olathe, KS does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2010 We have stayed at this resort 3 times now and this condo #2811 was the most dated, especially the kitchen appliances - the coil burner stove and microwave definitely need to be replaced - We cooked most of our meals in the condo, and the coil stove top was difficult. The condo location was great, close to the very long and private beach, with great shelling & shark teeth, the swimming pool was clean and warm, the bell-man was friendly and helpful, Rum Bay food was ho-hum, recreation needs to get more kayaks & canoes - only 3 kayaks at resort during spring break - not enough. Overall, resort is great for relaxing time, awesome for families, and would definitely come back, and would recommend the resort, but would request not to have this particular condo again. Also, only got 4 ferry passes for week stay - should be able to get more with a one week stay since there is not much to do on island.
JOSEPH A. from The Villages, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2009

KATHY T. from PALM HARBOR, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2009 I have stayed in this Villa last year. Nothing has changed. Couch gross. Bedding paper thin. Mattress in master bedroom horrible. Owner has not maintained unit very well. Had friends who stayed in 2911, which was beautiful. Our unit was a dump.

A guest from Hinesburg, VT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2008 The resort was absolutely beautiful. For us the highlights were being able to rent bikes to get around. Also, how it was very quiet and relaxing. I came home recommending your place to my friends who want to get away from it all..
KIM R. from BUFORD, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in April, 2007 This is an awesome property... we've been vacationing here for 18 years. There are occasional blips in customer service, but the overall experience is first rate.
