Marcia C. from St. Petersburg, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2016 Started poorly as the beach villa (3311) we were assigned was not prepared to welcome 2 persons in 2 beds. The sofa bed was not fit for human use. However, we were transferred to a 2 bedroom unit next door (3312) which was much nicer and not charged for the upgrade.
A guest from Rockledge, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2016 We have been coming to this beautiful island now for 15 years. We always have had a first class experience and accommodations to match. This trip, we elected to stay in a superior rated unit but ended up with something far less. I don't know who rated this unit a superior but I think a second opinion is needed. We paid an additional 50 dollars a night for something I would consider sub par to even the standard units. The living room furniture was old, saggy and one of the recliners seemed like it was in need of repair. The hot and cold water was backwards at the kitchen sink. I can't believe this hasn't been brought to someones attention before now. The formica kitchen counter tops are sloppily patched in several locations. The bottom of the kitchen cabinet doors were all ragged and gross. The toilet roll holder about fell off the wall. The doorstops are about falling off the wall. The wallpaper is about falling off the wall! There is a leak under the kitchen sink that has obviously been going on way before we got there. We called the office about it and they said someone would be up to repair it right away. No one showed up the entire time we were there. No lights would turn on when you entered the bedroom. My wife fixed it by plugging the lamps into the switched outlets. Something so simple should already have been done before guests arrive. The creaking on the ceiling as the upstairs tenants walked around was unnerving. I can keep adding to the list but would hope this would be enough to warn anyone about this unit. On a positive note, the beach and golf carting was great!
Kay W. from Smyrna, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in October, 2015 Palm Island is a favorite of our family in the fall. We enjoy just being away from the hustle bustle of other beaches. Lots of shells and nice long walks are what we like to do.
Enrique Q. from Lakeland, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2015 Awesome unit - beautifully decorated; clean; get location. Staff very friendly, helpful. Only issue was the dish washer didn't work; had to wash everything by hand. Notified office when we departed.
A guest from Sun City Ceter, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2015 I love Palm Island! We had the most relaxing long weekend, and enjoyed every aspect of the resort, from the pool and hot tub, to the gorgeous uncrowded beaches to the RED BEARD show. All was perfect!
A guest from DELAFIELD, WI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2015 PI Resort is a family favorite ... we've been vacationing there each year since 1987. Recently, I planned a very special mother-daughter trip and we had a wonderful time but the condo was very disappointing. The rental agent told me this unit had gone through a complete renovation recently and had a "superior" rating. Having high expecations, I was surprised when the laundry door fell off the tracks the first time we opened it, one of the kitchen cabinet doors was falling off the hinges, and the master bath toilet would only flush when we lifted the lid and manually flushed it. We called two days in a row to request that the toilet be fixed but maintenance was a "no show". I have stayed in lovely condos at PI Resort but this one was not ... I would rate it "inferior". We didn't let it spoil our overall PI Resort experience ... the condo was the only disappointing part of this special trip.
Linda B. from Apollo Beach, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2015 Loved the island and the natural setting. Exactly what I was hoping for. The staff could have been a little more friendly. Had a few employees who treated us like we were a bother. But also had exceptional service by Michael who was a bellman. Our particular room was clean and roomy. Loved the view. Could hear the people above us walking and talking, which seemed to begin at 7 am.
Patrick F. from Mequon, Wisconsin recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in March, 2015 My family and I had a wonderful experience at Palm Island! It was not the first time we had stayed there, we have always had a great time!!
Richard M. from Santa Fe, NM does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2015 It was my understanding that we were booked into a renovated top level Villa. We traveled from NM to spend time with my girlfriend's parents. I must say that we much enjoyed our time at Palm Island, but regrettably it was "in spite of" the accommodations we were provided. Our unit had a dirty sandy wooden floor, was shabbily equipped kitchen wise, was not an upper end renovation, had little water pressure in the kitchen and hence the dishwasher did not work and dishes were cleaned by hand, and in general it was not worth the price paid.
Stephanie R. from Luth, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2014 We stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean view on second floor. This was very convenient to be able to walk down the back stairs to the pool, beach and other relative's condos. However on the last 2 days we stayed there a large family was above us and you can hear their footsteps above you. We sleep with a sound machine and even that could not drown the noise. I believe all the units are like that so a third floor unit may be the way to go to ensure that doesn't happen again. The unit was nicely decorated and clean and had everything we needed in the kitchen. The bed was comfy and they changed out the patio table. Wifi had a good connection as well. Overall I would stay in this unit again. As always we had a great time at the beach and on the island.
Mary H. from Punta Gorda, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 We were Two couples celebrating a 60th birthday. Fun weekend! Wonderful beach and dolphin experience. I rented the last standard two bedroom unit on the first floor . The standard unit is a very low standard, which should not be acceptable to the resort. The owners really need to upgrade this unit . Refrigerator door shelf broken off, with rust on front . Couch foam so old you sink to the bottom.. Back breaking old mattresses. Old tv',s. Also, for such an old unit the kitchen supplies were minimum. Three chairs on porch, not four.Despite this, we would like to return some day, but not to a substandard unit. Enjoyed the water taxi to Leverocks Restaurant. The resort is nicely landscaped. I hope the resort improves it's standard units as this one b3312d was NOT standard, but substandard, and should not be part of the rental program . I was stung by a wasp at the swimming pool. They were landing on the pool water and there were many of them. Other pool guests were swatting them with pool noodles. This was annoying. I reported this to front desk when checking out. The pool staff should be on top of such a situation and not let it continue.
A guest from Tarpon Springs, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2014 We love Palm Island and this was our 3rd year. We stayed in a unit that was a standard rating this year because money was tight, however the linoleum shouldn't be peeling up, the oven signal lights should work and the refrigerator should be colder. This unit was also not very well stocked like others we have stayed in. No BBQ tools, no corkscrew, teacups but no coffee mugs, no plastic bowls with lids. The location was awesome, I would suggest unit 3313 next door where our friends. Beautiful unit.
A guest from Crestwood, KY recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2014 I've stayed at Palm Island Resort the past 8 years for a long weekend. This is the first time that the condo I had was not updated, while the location was beautiful, the condo left much to be desired. I'll be back next year though!
An amazing place to stay if you love Gulf of Mexico beaches
Marianne K. from Naples, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2013 I've been living in Southwest Florida for 13 yrs and an executive in the high-end hospitality industry; I think Palm Island Resort is one of the nicest casual places to stay on the Gulf. The unit was roomy, comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly.. If you're looking for a high energy, full service resort, not the right place to stay. However, if you are looking for a casual, relaxing, tropical get-away; Palm Island Resort is a perfect match. Participated in the yoga on the beach which was a beginner class but the setting is stunning complete with a . A pod of dolphins. Captain Red Beard, the island's "pirate" is the nicest pirate you'll ever meet. Was great with the kids and extremely accommodating. We arrived late to the crafts he was doing on Saturday and he stayed late to make sure my nieces got to make their necklaces without a word of complaint. Helpful Hints: in making the most of this resort. Bring some beach towels, none is supplied. Definitely bring groceries. The kitchens are well stocked & grill areas so its convenient to make any meals you want. Also there are multiple grill areas for cook outs too. Beach chair placement is DIY. Lastly, golf cart rental is expensive ($50.00 a day) so try and book a package that includes golf cart rental. Overall, a great experience.
Property Manager Response: Response from Palm Island Resort Marianne, Thank you so much for you candid feedback and helpful hints for our future guest. We hope to welcome you back to Palm Island Resort soon.
A guest from FT. MYERS, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2012 While I love staying at Palm Island and visit annually, I will never stay in this unit again. The stove was not working properly. Maintenance fixed it but a safety concern still existed without heat sensor lights working. The refrigerator shelves were broken, the laundry room doors were broken and the linoleum was peeling up. The unit was very worn looking. Pool, beach, staff, and resort were wonderful, and we thankfully did not spend much time in the unit. However, I will definitely request a different unit next year.
Valentina P. from Ocala, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012 We stayed at the resort as a last minute decision because the house we had rented had not been cleaned. It was a great decision and we enjoyed our time at the beach very much. Thanks
Orando H. from Coral Gables, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2012 This unit needs to be upgraded . The tv is outdated, closet doors in front of washing machine did not close .Kitchen appliances are run down
A guest from Punta Gorda, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in October, 2011 Loved our visit. Beach villa was a bit dated, but spotlessly clean w/beautiful view & easy access to awesome beaches. Enjoyed kayaking and exploring the resort & beaches via golf cart.
A guest from Dade City, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in September, 2011 Resort was very nice, clean, and upscale in every way. Two bedroom villa, had ocean front view, beach was approximately 200 yards away, and the pool only steps away. Very quiet during our stay, as expected early in the week. On site restaurant was good, and staff pleasant.
A guest from Palm Harbor, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2011 This place sucked! Stay away from unit 3312, it hasnt been decorated since the 70"s. Manager asked about our stay and we mentioned the unit, she said yeah we are having trouble with that unit! THEN DON'T RENT IT OUT!!!!!!!!
Dennis S. from Odessa, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in April, 2011 Hello this is Dennis Skalnik we where in unit 3312 the location and grounds are great!! the condo needs to be updated it looked very old and outdated,we are going to give the Resort another try April 27,28, & 29TH of this month we hope the unit we are in this time is in much better shape thank you the girls at the front desk are Great !!!!
Peter M. from St. Petersburg, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2011 Have been to resort 5-6 times before, and will probably return; specific unit we stayed in (3312)was substandard, smelled musty and very outdated. In future, would need details of unit we are assigned (when updated?) before making reservation.
Stacey H. from Plant City, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2011 I had hopes to provide my family with a nice vacation. The reservation desk did not explain that the car ferry was part of the package. I never received my confirmation. I was under the impression there would be someone to greet us and take our bags directly off of the ferry and that cars were not allowed in the resort. I am so thankful that someone in the community saved us from the embarrassment and struggle of carrying our luggage and offered us a ride to the resort. The staff were all pleasant. We got to our room and someone was already going in....she was given the wrong key. We were not given a pool key with our package and had to ask for it. My parents were unable to seep in the beds provided due to the discomfort. And the last complaint would be that our bellman came 30 minutes too early. He was kind and returned later as scheduled. I think the staff were all very nice but the mistakes made did cause us to basically loose the first day due to the lack of information provided. We were able to take the water taxi back to get our car. I would like for other family members to see this beautiful peaceful place but honestly would hesitate to ask them to spend their money somewhere that could potentially have so many mistakes.
MARY BETH S. from BRADENTON, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2009 We love Palm Island. So much fun and so relaxing. The bed left a little to be desired - the mattress was too soft but other than that - spectacular. Can't wait to come back
A guest from NEW PORT RITCHEY, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2009 The villa we stayed in had not been renovated. It was the same as 20 years ago. Many we have stayed in have new furniture, flooring, appliances and updated kitchen and baths. This unit was clean, but not updated. Beautiful view from every unit. 1st floor is nice because of the back entrance, although you can hear the creaking of the people walking in the villa above. Great fishing, shelling and shark tooth hunting. We will be back again next year!!
Property Manager Response:
Dear Ms. Odorisio, Thank you very much for responding to our survey. I will forward your comments on to our owner. We appreciate your time and we look forward to your next visit. DJ Cutler, Director of Hospitality Operations
need to improve house keeping. We stayed there 3 nights and did not receive fresh towels or linens
COLEY G. from HUSOTON, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2008 I stayed in 3312, I think I left my glasses on the night stand. Did anyone happen to turn them in? There are black plastic frame prescription glasses. If so, please contact me,.
Lisa S. from Brooksville, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2008 We drove with family & friends from Brooksville, FL. The drive was very easy. Once we got to the resort, we were on "island time". We rented golf carts and hit the water. We brought our boat and had a blast! The accomodations were nice. It was great having a washer/dryer in the unit. The kids had a ball. We watched the sunset on the pass and fished off shore. We just got back and are looking into returning again soon!
Raymond H. from Grove City, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2007 The apartment we had this time was in more disrepair and in need of updating. I was not horrible, but seem to need more attention than other we have used. Over all, we love Palm Island.
DONNA P. from VENICE, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2007 Although we only live in Venice, not far away, we come to Palm Island every year for the Tropical Nights event and have done so for several years, always having the BEST time. We come by boat during other times as well to enjoy Rum Bay. So close to home but feels so far away and relaxing.
