Family Vacation to Kauai January 2017
Lorna D. from Maple Valley, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in January, 2017 Had such a great family vacation this January 2017. Poipu Kai was awesome! Perfect location!!! Could not have asked for a better spot to be on Kauai. The kids absolutely loved the pool area too. Would go back in a heart beat.
A guest from Reno, NV does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2017 This unit was fine, not as nice or as well-equipped as two other units we have stayed in on past visits. Kitchen lacked tools & had limited dishware. Still, it was fairly comfortable. The biggest complaint is that one "bedroom" was really not a closed-off room. It was a landing on the second floor with two twin beds and only two walls. So, it wasn't possible to visit in the downstairs living room, or cook in the kitchen without disturbing those attempting to sleep on that landing. We felt misled by this being advertised as a "4 bedroom," since the fourth "room" was actually a landing.Location within the complex was not as nice as where we've stayed in the past. We would try to avoid this unit and location on future stays.
Cheryl G. from Washington, DC recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in December, 2016 The villa was quiet and spacious and very nicely furnished and equipped. We enjoyed the pool area, hot tub, and barbeque grill. In the morning we could walk to the Hyatt to see the sunrise, and in the evening we could walk to Poipu beach for the sunset. We had a few minor issues (eg with the internet) that were promptly addressed. Overall it was a lovely 2 weeks.
Sue W. from Honolulu, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2016 We would recommend this place if you are a large group and are looking for ways to connect and save money by cooking. The kitchen is big and beautiful, fully loaded with most everything you need to cook (besides seasonings or other food essentials). The pool is on the smaller side but they have a clubhouse where you can borrow beach chairs, boogie boards and sand castle items. Since no one was going to move in on the day of our check out, we were allowed to stay 3 hours longer, which was a huge help. There are minor things they need to fix, like a broken stair piece. One of the bathroom faucets was very dirty and the living room tv is ancient, but other than that, everything else was wonderful.
Karen K. from Garden Grove, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2016 Our experience was delightful from beginning to end. We had 2 issues that were immediately addressed and corrected. The property and staff were great. The pictures accurately depict the experience. The location was perfect.
Mala H. from , IL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2016 Condo was clean with average decor. All kitchen essentials were provided.Over all we had a great time.Space was enough for our big group.
A guest from Phoenix, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014 We arrived to brand-new furnishings in the living and dining areas. The villa is beautifully appointed. It was wonderful to be so close to the beach. We enjoyed having access to beach supplies, sand toys for the kids, and the cooler bag came in handy. The main issue I had with the villa was the cleanliness of the suite. The showers had mildew and the walls around the toilet we stained. This is unacceptable for a rental at this price. Also, several windows were cloudy. If I were to reserve again, I would spend more and get a poolside villa. They seem to be nicer overall, have more spacious lanais.
William M. from Chester, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2014 I own at a nearby Poipu timeshare but needed more space so booked a 4br/3bath at The Villas. The online booking process was simple and the reservation coordinator was on top of everything. Check in instructions were very clear and the process was seamless. The unit was very clean and the beds comfortable. Everything worked and the kitchen was well supplied. The exterior of the property is well maintained and there are walkways that lead to Poipu beach, about a 5 minute walk. We were in the H building, considered a garden view. It was quiet and the grill was just outside our stairs. We required assistance on three occasions, one for soap and paper towels and two for maintenance. Every one was responded to and handled in less than one hour, even on July 4th. My wife and I travel quite a bit and feel this property is a definite yes.
Bob B. from Wagoner, OK recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2014 Our experience with unit H224 during a seven day stay from June 10-17, 2014 was less than anyone should expect for $500/night accommodations. The main issue we had to contend with was the tile replacement work that was on-going at our front door landing. We were asked to navigate over and around freshly laid tile without stepping on any of it. Not an easy task to do when carrying luggage, groceries, and beach bags. On the last day of our stay, the tile setter moved from in front of our door to the lower landings and proceeded to jackhammer the old tile. You can imagine the racket that created not to mention the difficulty we had in navigating our way over and through the workmen. Inside the unit, all things were in fair condition except the missing door at the washer/dryer closet (way too much noise when doing laundry) and the central vac system was not working. The furniture in the unit is outdated, some of the the windows are fogged over, some of blinds don't pull up, and one of toilets has leak between the tank and bowl. Ultimately, my dissatisfaction is due to the fact that in all the conversations I had with the staff prior to arriving I was never told there would be any construction going on at the unit during our stay. No warning, no consideration. Other than that, the unit is worth about an $89/night Motel Six stay. Save your money and look elsewhere.
A guest from WOONONA, New South Wales recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2014 Absolutely gorgeous villa in a great location. There were 4 adults and 2 kids (under 3) staying and there was plenty of room. With the pool onsite and the beach only a few mins walk away (and where we saw turtles!!), it is a great place to stay. Within walking distance of the Hyatt which has beautiful grounds worth a walk through. Staff were fantastic to deal with. We wish we didn't live so far away so we could come and stay more often!!
Jane K. from Woonona, Nsw recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2014 We enjoyed our stay at the Villas .It was clean and big and everything worked it was close to the beach just a short stroll through the property and a short drive to restaurants and shops. The only complaint we have is there was no human contact when e arrivied,we had no idea where the information desk was so we booked all our trips to tubing and kayaking and zip lining through the shop at brennecke beach store the lady was so helpful. We left and still saw no one from the management team so we could not use the beach chairs or umbrellas or any beach gear they said came with the villa because we had no idea how to find the clubhouse to pick up complimentary coolers, chairs, boogie boards, pool toys, and floating devices. But it was a lovely place to stay so quite and peaceful.Just would have been nice to see a face to talk to if just for ten minutes on arriving.
Don C. from Yorbalinda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in January, 2014 Pros: Great location, nice walk to beaches, tennis & shops, spacious room for 8 people, grounds in very nice shape.Cons: Villa needs to be cleaned a little better (under couches, tables), shower in master needed repair, TV's need updating (guests could use flash drives/Netflix on newer TV), not enough decent beach furniture or toys to go around (need to keep nicer stuff for guests).
A guest from Jefferson, SD recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in January, 2014 Our family of 7 adults had plenty of room in our condo; that is the one reason I would recommend it. It had the basic amenities. There were no property maps so we had to figure out on our own how to get to the pool, the beach, etc. There was a huge problem with parking and we did report it to management and spoke with security but nothing was done. I would definitely look at other properties on a return trip; this was just "ok" but nothing great.
Robert C. from Plymouth, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 We had an amazing trip to PoiPu and a good amount can be credited to our stay at the Poipu Kai Villas and the reservation staff that really went out of their way to help us out as much as they could.Long story short, I planned the trip on behalf of my family booking two side by side 4 bedroom units for my family, my 2 brother's families, my parents, grandma, aunt, and cousin. We had a number of requests, even asking to move condos a week prior to our trip over the holidays as my grandma didn't think she would be able to make it up the stairs to our second floor unit. The reservation staff did everything they could to help us over an extremely busy time. And not only solved many of our problems but did so very professionally. The actual condos were excellent - walking distance to Poipu beach and Shipwreck beach. We ended up cooking a few times and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The only thing they didn't over-deliver on was the storage closet for beach gear (beach chairs, toys for the kids). But a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things as there were plenty of places to rent and buy what we needed.Great experience, would definitely stay here again!
A guest from Boulder, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in November, 2013 I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a fabulous vacation!! The condo was gorgeous, CLEAN, air conditioned. We had tons of room for all 7 of us. The location was great - close enough to the beach to walk (or in our case we drove to bring stuff down each day and never had a problem with getting parking). I loved how the villas had beach "stuff" for us to use including awesome beach towels. The full size washer and dryer was a HUGE plus also. I can't way enough positive things about this amazing vacation rental. I highly recommend this unit (H224) with absolutely no reservations.
A guest from Salem, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2013 Our stay was great! The villa was clean and the air conditioning and ceiling fans kept both levels a great temperature. There were plenty of towels for showering and the beach and the kitchen was equipped with newer appliances. There was limited dishes and kitchen utensils, but we just did dishes a bit more frequently. Overall, a great place to stay.
Emily J. from Franklin, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 Resort was great location. Management excellent, great layout of condo. Only issues were saggy couch and lack of kitchen equip. Only 4 coffee mugs, 6 mismatched cups for a 3 bdrm condo.
Amazing, Beautiful, Dream come true condo and location
Tim S. from Lehighton, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 Wow, It was beautiful!! Could not have asked for anything more with the condo! The location, parking at the condo, and easy walk to the beach were just amazing! The pool, fitness center, grill, beach supplies to use were unbelievable. You had everything to make it as easy for your guests to feel as if they were at their own house.
A guest from Renton, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2013 Unit was spacious, clean, modern and the location was perfect! This unit is perfect for multiple Couples or a whole family!
A guest from Reseda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2013 Villa H224 was in good shape. Nicely decorated and comfortable. Management (Lauren and Kara) were attentive and responsive to issues and concerns. We had a few problems with wifi, skylight in the loft bedroom, dishwasher, and freezer, but otherwise it was a pleasant experience. Good location--walking distance to the beach and shops (10-15 minutes). 25 minute drive from Lihue airport/Costco/Walmart. Very quiet--we couldn't hear our neighbors. Overall a positive experience!
A guest from Honolulu, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2013 Numerous maintenance issues with property: damaged windows, blinds inoperable, top rack of dishwasher broken, wifi stopped working on last day of stay, unable to adjust temp on refrigerator(freezer would not freeze, broken dishes, master shower had broken shower head and drain cover. Also many broken items in the checkout locker(coolers, chairs, body boards)
Mildred M. from Mt Vernon, IA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2013 The villa was perfect for our extended family which included 3 children, 2 parents and 2 grandmas and one grandpa. We ate a lot of meals in, used the grill a couple of times, and played games in the evenings. The proximity to Poipu Beach was perfect, and we spent a lot of time there. The directions for check-in and care of the unit were very clear. The staff at the clubhouse were friendly and helpful. We would recommend this to others, and would rent from you again if we return to Kauai.
A guest from Nelson, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in February, 2013 From first impressions to the end of our vacation experience at the Villas I have only positive comments to make. The staff were more than helpful, the accommodations met out expectations and then some, the location was very convenient and the grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. Our call for repairs to the garburator had repairs completed within the hour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Arlene D. from Ft St John, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2013 The only disappointment we had was upon arrival at the Villa. The bedding and towels had been done but the cleaning of the floors, etc. had definitely not been done. Our son and his wife and children were the first to arrive at the Villa. They were very disappointed, they tried to contact the person in charge and left messages and got no answer. They got busy cleaning as they knew the rest of the party would be arriving later the same day. They took pictures of the pile of sand they swept up along with the spaghetti, etc. The next morning we were able to contact someone and they sent over the cleaning ladies to wipe up the floors since the rest had already been done as to make it liveable. We did receive an apology but weren't offered anything in return. Other than the patio doors being permanently streaked up the unit was very nice once it was cleaned up.
Johnnie V. from King George, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 19 days in January, 2013 Overall thhe Villas at Poipu Kai is a great place to stay while on Kauai. Thie particular unit was old, but still nice. The new units along poolside are newer, therefore much nicer.
Dan K. from Gallatin, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2012 Outstanding property, with all the amenities necessary for a very enjoyable holiday ,,,, looking forward to a return to The Villas at Poipu Kai.a hui houDan
Hepsie D. from Flat Rock, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 My family enjoyed our stay very much and I would definitely recommend The Villas at Poipu Kai to others. The Staff was highly responsive to our requests and very coridal. My only complaint is in reference to the specific Villa we rented which had some scuff marks/scars on the walls and the carpet was not as spotless as I would have liked. Otherwise, everything else was reasonably well kept and clean. A wonderful vacation location, The Villas at Poipu Kai.
Tim B. from Bosque Farms, NM recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 Check in and out was a breeze and the staff I dealt with while booking were great. There were three couples and my grandson on this great trip. The staff we ran into on the grounds were all very friendly. The villa as pretty nice, although as with any rental property could use some more regular maintence. The gardens around the property are really nice too. I did feel bad for the folks renting below us, more sound deadening is needed in the ceiling below us. My 20 month old grandson, even though he doesnt weigh much, made a bit of racket according to them. The Kitchen was real nice and made it easy to prepare meals"at home" when we wanted. The location was very convienient to 3 nice beaches, resturants, and golf at the fantastic Poipu Bay course. Overall this was a great trip for us (we hated to leave) and I would stay here again and tell my friends. Mahalo... Villas at Poipu Kai!!!
Michael S. from Penn Valley, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in April, 2012 overall we enjoyed our stay in the villas. i would recommend upgrading the kitchen knives and pans. all else was fine.
A guest from Coupeville, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in February, 2012 Enjoyed the kitchen, we were cooking for 10. Loved the pool. Good location. We were disappointed to find some problems (broken shades, no Internet, grill out of propane, not enough dining room chairs) But maintenance was helpful in taking care of these things. We did not like the fact that the tenants below complained about the kids walking on the floor!
A guest from Saanichton, BC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 8 days in December, 2011 The air conditioning was not working for our entire stay of 8 days. The front door was stuck closed on 3 different occasions, requiring 3 different staff members trying to fix it, finally someone came to plane the door where it was sticking. The lanai sliding doors and front windows appear to have the seals broken, at first I thought they were dirty, but on a closer look it seemed to be between the panes of glass, in any case you could hardly see out the windows. The door which enclosed the washer/dryer was broken and had to be left open. One blind in the living room was also in a state of disrepair, and much of the carpet is stained. This unit needs a good going over by the maintenance crew. On the good side the kitchen was very well equipped, nice stainless appliances, plenty of dishes, glassware, cookware, etc. The location is good, a short walk to the beach, and other amenities. This unit should be pulled from the rental pool until these maintenance issues are addressed, it is overpriced in this condition.
Mike J. from Placitas, NM recommends this property. Stayed for 21 days in September, 2011 I stayed in the villa for 21 nights; the first 13 were for work, and then my wife joined me for vacation. Having a full size kitchen and all amenities for work was essential for long work days, and being able to make meals was great. My villa was huge; I think I only went upstairs once just to see what was there! But the entire villa came at government per diem, so it was a really great deal. My unit did not have a view of the ocean, but the deck was private. My only regret was that there was no maid service during the stay, and staying for 3 weeks it would have been nice, but on the other hand, it was private and we were the only ones who went inside. We did have a minor issue with a toilet, and the property folks promptly got a plumber (on Sunday!) to come in and fix it. Overall this was a great stay.
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2011 We stayed in a 4BR/3BA condo with anotehr family. A total of 5 adults and 3 baby/toddlers. It was a perfect place to stay. We were able to walk to nearly everything -- pool, beach, play structure, other resort properties. The condo was also spacious and well kept. The condo and property included all the amenities we could need, such as a clubhouse where we could borrow beach chairs, toys and coolers. Absolutely a wonderful vacation was had by all.
Julie N. from Torrence, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2011 Staff was beyond responsive to requests--cheerfully. It couldn't have been better. Water heater needed to be turned up because water wasn't hot enough--but easily fixed.
Judy B. from Glendale, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2011 Our villa was in great condition. It felt like home! Nothing was overlooked by the management. It was great to be able to eat-in with the family and have everything that we needed. The beach towels were wonderful and having access to all the beach toys and boogie boards was amazing!
Wished we could have stayed longer, hope to go back soon
A guest from Mexia, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2011 Minor little things, we could have used a few more kitchen towels, the washer was not working very well. We had to wash dishes by hand. A few extra trash bags. The ruffle on one of the twin beds was torn. Todd who went to check on A/C and washer was great!!!
Dave F. from Berkley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2011 Very happy with it; we were there with our daughter and her family. The location, within easy walk of the beach was great. I thought billing the unit as 4 bedrooms was a little misleading, since the "4th" was an open area with two twin beds, not a separate room.
