Exceptional value and great location
Mitchell N. from Portland, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2016 Management was great. Super easy to locate and access. Very nice linens, beds, and towels. Entire home was clean and well appointed. Only thing I would recommend is to upgrade the wifi to a faster speed. That's it. Otherwise, the home was perfect and I would gladly rent it again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Glad you enjoyed the home, wifi is slower but it's difficult to have everything that all guests want without adding a huge expense to the owner and then raising the price of the home. We hope you will come back and enjoy our beach!
A guest from Herriman, Utah recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2016 It was a good experience, but a few things were bothersome-there was no dishwasher so I really didn't know how clean the dishes were, and the beach access was terrible. The safer of the two paths was very overgrown and difficult to use. Also we were there on the weekend of the big storm with the tornadoes, and I received a courtesy call from the property mgt (I appreciated that) telling me to get out the flashlights stored at the house but she wasnt sure where they may be and after searching the house we discovered there were no flashlights or candles. Luckily we did not lose power though, so it worked out. On the whole, I would recommend the property to people who don't care about getting down and walking on the beach, but with reservation to anyone who wants easy access to the shore.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thank you for your review. The dishes are all hand cleaned w/soap and rinsed with hot water the same way they have been done for centuries before dishwashers were invented. The very best part of this home is that it is ocean front with spectacular 180 views of the beach. There have been reports by guests of the bald eagles that land on the tree right outside the livingroom window. Sightings of whales, and other ocean birds are regular comments. There are two beach access points in the sub-division which are natural paths and not recommended during a storm. Ona Beach State park is just a 2 minute drive north from the house with parking, a flat and straight path out to the beach for those guests who need a little more sure footing. There are picnic tables and lawn areas that make it nice for families too. Flashlights are in the kitchen drawers and Bayshore office has lots of back-ups if needed which we remind guests, as we are available 24/7 for assistance.
Marilyn E. from Lebanon, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2016 Had a wonderful stay! A gorgeous view, comfortable beds and didn't see any ants as some of the previous renters have stated. We will be back! Thank you Bayshore Properties.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thank you for your review. The view is spectacular! and the few carpenter ants were a one time issue from an old tree in the front yard that was removed. We look forward to your return stay!
Beautiful view - but here are the caveats you should know
A guest from Boise, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2016 The Sandalwood house is in a beautiful location - with lots of huge windows on the upper level to enjoy the view. It's a great value, but there are some caveats. In retrospect, we would still choose this house, but would have appreciated knowing things up front. Newly remodeled? Hardly! The house is 40 years old and it looks and smells like it. Based on the album with before/after photos (many of which look almost the same), they did some work on the house about 12 years ago. Please replace the worn out furniture and the dark, dingy wood paneling that?s everywhere! Or maybe stop describing it as "newly remodeled".Getting to the beach: The "easy" path to the beach is poorly maintained and would be challenging for many people. My kids got cuts on their arms and legs while trying to pass through the narrow gaps in the shrubs.Cable TV/WiFi: The listing says "Cable TV", but it?s basically just broadcast stations from Portland. Want to watch ESPN or HGTV in the evening after the kids are in bed? Nope! Want to see who?s fighting who in the Portland city council? You bet! The house has 256k wireless internet, but it?s basically useless. Gmail, , and other basic websites simply don?t work - they spin forever and eventually time out. Google maps takes 5-10 minutes to load directions. Carpenter ants: They?re still there (as of Aug 27).Black stuff in the master shower soap tray: It?s gross, please clean it!Customer service: Perhaps most disappointing is that when I told the management company there were discrepancies in the listing (up until last week, they listed a 5-year old mattress in the master bedroom as "brand new"), their tone quickly changed from friendly to patronizing. If they had simply said they?d update the listing, it would have been a different experience.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We did update the listing and it's much more "honest" now. I guess I will learn not to put "new" on anything as the years go by so fast it is difficult to keep up with them, I am now reading all the descriptions to make sure they are up to date. Thanks for the reminder.
Carpenter Ants and sand fleas make for an uncomfortable stay.
A guest from Portland, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2016 If this was the only experience with Bayshore rentals, I would not work woth them again based on this trip. We felt fortunate to book an oceanfront property at the last minute for a birthday present. While the home had great views and was wonderfully located, the infestation of carpenter ants out of the woodwork and sand fleas biting our legs, made for a less than stellar experience. The staff reacted quickly when made aware but the vendor was not thorough in their treatment of the problem. The living room furniture is over worn. If it didn't have insect issues, it would be a good place to stay, if one of their other properties wasn't available. Am a little disappointed that we weren't offered anything for the known problem. We've rented from this business at least 6 other times with no issues. The homes have always been clean and comfortable.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We are so sorry this happened and we will be reaching out to you personally for a resolution. You will be hearing from us soon, thanks for your honesty.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2016 Pros:View - you can't beat the view. Awesome, wide, high up, you can see miles of ocean and the beach. Two bathrooms was great. Bedrooms are larger than most beach houses. Quiet location but near Newport. Love having lockbox. King bed great for size and love the foam topper. Definitely a soft feel which I like. Beach was nice there - flat for walking but also nice rock features especially down by Seal Rocks. This management company is very responsive/professional to work with, so if you rent from them and have any issues/questions a real human answers the phone and will help you.Cons: musty smell downstairs. Living room furniture quite uncomfortable - you fall into the sofas and can't get out. Cable TV lacks any channels you would expect. We had a problem with ants, and I have to give the management team kudos for their very prompt attention to it, but finding huge ants every day was pretty icky. Beware the path to the beach - you have to push through plants that are over your head to get to a somewhat rickety flight of stairs and then a path down that is steps made from dirt/roots. Not for the very young, old, or anyone with bad knees. We would stay here again just for the view, but want to share info about the house for others.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for the honesty. Not very far from the house are quite a few state parks with very easy beach access. The ant problem has been addressed with the removal of some infested trees on the property. We hope you will return again!
Tisha P. from Garden City, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2016 I've stayed in a number of beach side rentals over the years, and I'd rate this one as middle of the pack in terms of enjoyability. Here are the positives and some of the disappointments:THUMBS UP....The bed in the master bedroom is very comfy and the room is large and inviting. The views from the living area and kitchen are gorgeous...sea gulls fly right by the windows regularly. The management company is fabulous. Love Bayshore Rentals. The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything needed to cook a meal.AND NOW THE DISSAPOINTMENTS...- There was an infestation of ants in small bedroom. The management company sent someone out right away to spray, however.-the beach access is not easy. Both possible trails are a bit difficult if not sure footed. The home is nicely redone inside. A fresh paint job in beachy colors on exterior would do wonders for curb appeal.
A guest from Caldwell, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2016 It was very clean and easy to find.great location from everything made it nice and easy going back in forth from Newport to Waldport.
Dorothy R. from Colton, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2016 The house was very neat and tidy. I loved all the windows overlooking the bluff and seeing the ocean tides. The master bedroom was so spacious and the in room entertainment center was a bonus. The kitchen was very well stocked and functional. I would have liked to have the use of an automatic dishwasher, but as it turned out, the teenagers we traveled with came in handy. It was great seeing the before and after renovation photos. Loved the open kitchen / dining area upgrade. I would definitely recommend this beach rental!
A guest from Tualatin, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2016 Had a great stay for our family of 6. Very well stocked kitchen. Guest bed is a bit saggy and soft. Would love to see the tree chopped down in front of the windows for a full ocean view.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for the suggestions, we will look into the tree situation.
A guest from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2016 My wife and I wanted to spend a weekend on the coast with our kids and liked the way Sandalwood looked online. Always trying to keep an open mind when planning our little getaways, we drove in to Seal Rock with 'no expectations' and were quite pleased with this house. It was a bit dated, yes, but that was perfect for us. Just what we were looking for, a cozy cabin retreat. The house was large enough for the 6 of us and was well stocked. We loved the path down to the beach and even though it was raining, that never slowed us down. It's an easy drive to Newport to the north and Waldport to the south. The owners had a nice binder telling their story, and seemed like a great couple. The only recommendations I would make would be to replace that bed in the main bedroom, and start a new Guest book, this one was completely full of great entries, but stopped over a year ago. Will we go back? You better believe it!
A guest from Issaquah, Washington recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2015 We were traveling up 101 from CA. This house was clean, with a few necessities. Bring your own food. But we were able to do laundry! It was great to have Wifi and watch TV. House was a bit musty, but cleared when we opened is a little dated but totally fine, so are we:).
A guest from Spokane, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 We were here at the end of August for 4 days and three nights. We loved the view and proximity to the beach. We could have stayed at the house the whole time and had a great vacation. It is close to many attractions along the coast. We were here with ages ranging from 4 to 65 and all were able to make the steep trek to the beach fairly easily. The house had everything we needed (even some toys for the kids) It was the perfect size for our family and very easy to check in and check out. We arrived at 2pm and the house was ready so we were allowed to check in early. The only thing that was unexpected was the musty smell. I know this is probably part of being an older home in a damp environment. It didn't really bother us because it brought back memories of my Grandparent's home in upstate NY, but it could be bothersome to others. This is the first time we have stayed on the OR coast so I'm not sure if it is normal. The house was very clean and well kept. Overall we were very happy with our stay.
Rushell W. from Eagle Point, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2015 We booked this rental having never been to this area, but the location is perfect! It was just a short drive to the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, which was our main reason for the visit. The home sits on a bluff above the ocean with a gorgeous view, and beach access is just a short walk down the road to a trail leading down to the beach. The home is a tri-level, with the main living area, laundry room, a full bathroom, and bedroom with 2 twin beds on the top level; garage/patio access, front entry, and 3/4 bathroom on the middle level, and 2 spacious bedrooms on the lower level. The beds are comfortable and the view is amazing! The area is quiet with friendly neighbors. We wished we had more time to spend there, and will book more than 2 nights the next time. We WILL be back! :)
Rebecca P. from Boise, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2015 We love the location, all of the neighbors were super friendly and the street is perfectly quiet and easy to find. Would have really liked the home to have a deck off of the main/upper floor, though.
Very comfortable, beautiful views, not tacky or pretentious.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 My family and I found this house very comfortable and easy to live in. There are picture windows continuously from the kitchen through the dining room and living room, which make it like a broadcaster's box on the ocean. We watched eagles, ospreys, buzzards and gulls routinely floating by on the updraft from the cliff just a 10-20 feet away, and hummingbirds closer still in the hedge. It's on a high cliff (above the "Tsunami Inundation Zone" FYI) but beach access (via the easier of the two path options) down the road was not a problem even for the somewhat wobbly and weak senior in our party. The beach is beautiful and the nearby newly created Brian Booth/Beaver Creek refuge is worth a visit. Reserve well in advance for the ranger-led canoe tour. We are all Oregon coast-rental veterans, and we were all pleasantly surprised by how unpretentious and free of ocean-themed paintings and googahs this place was. It felt like a place we could live. Weirdly, it's BYO Saranwrap, which is the kind of thing I think should be provided. There's a shoes-off policy, FYI, I guess in particular because of the off-white carpeting in the living room and bedrooms. Maybe it's for privacy or to maintain a windbreak, but to me it seems like a mistake that they don't trim the hedges to a lower height. We could not see the ocean from in the back patio except by standing on the picnic table, and relatedly there seemed no attraction to hanging out out there. The street is quiet. Expect some salal berry bird poop on your car in season.Thimble berries and huckleberries are to be had, a neighbor told me, later in the summer. Anyhow, we liked this place a lot. I made the reservation and am utterly satisfied.
JoDee G. from Pasco, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2015 We rent this house every year and absolutely love it!! The view is beautiful, the kitchen is well stocked, the living room is cozy - everything is perfect. We consider it our home away from home.
A guest from Silverton, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2015 Bayshore Rentals is very professional, accessible, and we have rented from them before and will again. But there are too many stairs in this house. When you are in the master bedroom, to go to the one bathroom, it is 7 steps up, and to take a tub bath, it is another 7 steps up. One window in the living room needs to be replaced--it is badly etched (distorting the view) and right in front of the only comfortable easy chair. The couch is not comfortable--you sink into it and it is hard to get out of it. The plumbing is reversed in both bathrooms, and the bathroom in the entry (odd place to put it) has a shower head that isn't installed properly. You either stand under the cold shower, waiting for it to warm up, or you turn on the water, and when you open the shower door, the water sprays through the door onto the floor. The view is very nice, but the layout is strange. And the plumber and electrician didn't know what they were doing. To turn on the light in the entry bathroom, you have to enter the room and grope behind the door to find the light switch.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for your very honest review of this property. We will look into the criticisms and follow up with the owner. We've had this house in the rental pool for many years and honestly, I have not heard of these issues. We hope you will return to another home, thanks for being a valued customer.
Mary S. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2014 Another repeat visit to our favorite beach house. House is always immaculately clean including the beachfront windows. This time introduced a new generation to the house. We ate, drank, did jigsaw puzzles, watched DVD's and worked on quilt projects. A wonderful place to spend quality family time.
Jean C. from Walla Walla, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2014 The weather cooperated to provide a wonderful week at the beach! To come back to the house with the gorgeous view and the rhythm of the ocean waves after a day of activities just extended the day's pleasure. I didn't miss the dishwasher because of the view over the kitchen sink! The rooms were furnished well, and the large, master bedroom with the king- sized bed, and extra furnishings was especially appreciated.I liked the separate laundry area with the linen closet. There are steps to the main living area and the smallest bedroom and steps to the lower level with two bedrooms with the second bathroom on the main landing should be noted to those who are mobility challenged. This is definitely a house to visit again!!
William A. from Meridian, ID recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2014 We really enjoyed our stay at the Sandalwood house! It was exceptionally clean and quiet, and the view overlooking the ocean was so beautiful that we didn't want to leave. The beach access was just a short walk down the neighborhood street and down the hill, and on the walk to the beach, we saw a couple of bald eagles! Some have described the interior as "dated" but everything is very clean and cozy. We will definitely be back!
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for your positive comments. Sandalwood is a favorite with our guests and we always get positive comments.
A guest from Eugene, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2014 This was the perfect location for a girls weekend. Clean, comfortable and well equipped for all your needs. Just lacking a dishwasher.
A guest from SAMMAMISH, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2014 We have rented several homes in this area over the past 8 years and thishome definitely had the best view of all we have seen.Only noises were the surf. The interior is a bit "dated" but all was very functional!Property management company was also the most efficient of all the places we have stayed.
Bruce W. from Wilsonville, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2014 This was our 5th stay, 3rd Spring Break trip with my sons.As always your home is the perfect base for our activities.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for your positive comments and your continued business.
Christie N. from Cottage Grove, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2014 It was fun to watch the storm upstairs. Downstairs was quiet during the night. Perfect! Had a fun time playing on the beach.
A guest from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2013 We have stayed at this home for the past nine years and love it. It is clean, has a well stocked kitchen an a great view.
Shannon H. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2013 The house is perfect for a relaxing get away. The ocean views could not be more spectacular! We will stay here again and recommend it to our family and friends.
Bruce W. from Wilsonville, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2013 Unfortunately, no crab but what a beautiful Fall weekend. Enjoyed BIG Screen UofO Duck victory. My sons had a walk on the beach under a full moon.So enjoy my night of sleep with the roar of the ocean in the background. As always, the house was perfect!
Sandalwood vacation home in Seal Rock,Oregon-A great place.
Ann H. from La Center, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 2 problems we could see-The door going into the garage from inside the house-even when closed tight and locked-would be found open-the wind must jiggle it free-also there was a leak in the ceiling just outside the laundry room. Otherwise I will consider renting this property again.Ann Hinkle
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC Thanks for your response. The roof repair expert was called after your stay and the door has been repaired.
Angie K. from Corvallis, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013 We had a great stay at Sandalwood. Conveniently located to our family reunion at Seal Rocks RV park. Beautiful view of the ocean and very comfortable home. Would definitely stay again and/or rent from Bayshore Rentals.
A guest from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 This was my second stay at Sandalwood and I was thrilled that the dates were open for the time I needed it. The view is, of course, spectacular and the location is perfect for me, and my guests, purposes, since we are all artists and paint up and down the coast daily. The home is comfy and the rooms and bathrooms are nicely and privately located. The only thing I could say that it needs is a dishwasher, when on vacation doing dishes by hand is not desirable! Also some paper towels would have been nice too. Otherwise a great place, the kitchen is nicely appointed and living room is cozy. Overall this is one of my favorite places!
A guest from Pasco, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 Our family has stayed at this rental for a number of years. Always clean and well stocked. The location lets you enjoy the ocean from the comfort of the living room, or via a short walk. The beach access is a little difficult, but manageable. I would not recommend for kids under 5. Very comfortable and relaxing. It is only a short drive to Newport or Waldport for groceries/supplies. I often drive to either one to get the paper in the morning and I am back enjoying cofee and the paper within 20 minutes.
Mary S. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2013 This is not for everyone as it is a steep walk to the beach, far from grocery stores or other shopping and very quiet. We love it. The view is wonderful, the house comfortable and well furnished and the management company responsive to any need. We will return and highly recommend.
Lucy T. from Brownsville, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2013 The only thing that would make it easier to rent the property would be to have a lock box so we didn't need to travel south to physically pick up keys.
A guest from Wilsonville, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2013 Wonderful week with my sons! Sunshine, full moon, bald eagle, whales and more.Sandalwood is great home away from home.
Ruby C. from Boise, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2012 This house is great. It is very comfortable and nicely equipped. I didn't mind the bathrooms being on different levels, however the water pressure for showers was a bit weak. That would not deter me from renting this house again. I highly recommend this house and Bayshore Rentals.
A guest from Hood River, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2012 The home was lovely meeting all of our expectations. The dryer was not working when we attempted to fulfill the requirements for checkout. The property had fabulous views of the ocean but was not convenient to get to the beach. The kitchen was well stocked with all that was necessary for preparing our meals. One drawback was that the bathroom was a half a flight up from the bvedroom. Overall we are very pleased with the accomodations.
A guest from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2012 the best of the many of your properties I've visited over the years. Thanks to the staff for allowing me to move around until found the right place!!
Lucy T. from Brownsville, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 The first thing I would like to say is that Bayshore Rentals is fantastic! We ran into some medical problems and they were so kind as to move our dates for us at least twice before things finally worked out. The Sandalwood vacation home is great! The view is absolutely fabulous. The only thing that is a bit inconvenient is the location of the bathrooms (having to climb stairs during nite) but things like that cannot always be helped; the house is being kept up wonderfully and furnishings updated by owneres. We would recommend this vacation home to anyone who wishes to enjoy the coast in that area.
JoAnne S. from Eugene, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2012 Last time we stayed, there was a coffee grinder, so we were expecting one. (The Pacific NW is the land of the coffee snobs and we like fresh ground beans for our morning buzz. This was only a minor inconvenience that made a couple of us grumpy the first morning.)
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC So sorry, not sure where it went? If you would have called us we could have provided one for you. We will make sure there's one for your next visit.
2nd annual vac in this renta - but now has 2 problems
A guest from La Grande, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 The house and location are superb. Bayshore Rentals is very professional and they manage good, clean homes. This was our second stay in 2 years in this rental - we love it! BUT we may not come back to this house next year. 1. The bed in the smaller bedroom downstairs definitely needs a new mattress - without it we won't come back.2. We had a very nasty experience with a pit bull in the blue house 2 houses to the north. If the dogowner was there temporarily and is gone - problem solved. If he is a permanent resident (and his dogs as well) we will not return to this house.I hope property management companies that rent to dog owners stipulate small dogs only. Other vacationers have no right to ruin my vacation with their vicious dogs. I'd rather stay home and save my money.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We appreciate your business and thanks for writing. We will check out the mattress in the bedroom. Regarding the dogs, we were very concerned about the incident and immediately called the Lincoln County Sheriff?s Department once you called our office. In our eight years of renting Sandalwood, we have not had a dog incident nor have we had one since. We sincerely regret the incident impacted your visit.
Marsha C. from John Day, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 The view from the front room windows was absolutly wonderful ! We saw lots of Whales & pelicans & it was just very nice. The entire upstairs was great, but the bedrooms downstairs, tho clean, felt a bit claustrobic, for my daughter & myself. Also, I was unaware that we needed to take out the garbage, strip the beds & wash as much of the towels & linens that we could before we left. For the cost of the rental, 85.00 cleaning fee & other fees, I was a bit dissappointed. I felt I should not have to do any 'cleaning' if I pay a cleaning fee. I would rent the home for the view, it was a very quiet neighborhood, easy to find, nice yard & for the most part, very clean. I did not care for the downstairs bedrooms (basement type rooms) & I certainly felt upset that we needed to clean up the place before we left. Also, there were 2 sets of stairs to ascend/descend, which would make it very hard for older people & babies (unsafe), as they were steep.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC I am not sure where you were instructed to clean up before you lelft. We ask you to put garbage in the receptical outside (that is to simply carry out a plastic bag), to avoid smells in the house after your departure and start a load of linens.
Richard S. from KENT, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 Great place! Magnificent view! Horrible internet connection--I came to write and gave up because the internet connection was too slow. If I need that, I won't be back here OTHERWISE the place was 5 Stars!
A guest from Pasco, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2012 This house is perfect! Clean, great location, great setup. Even when the weather is bad, watch the ocean and storms. Thanks to Bayshore Rentals for sharing this vacation home with our family.
Donna P. from Adamstown, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 My daughter-in-law and I needed to stay somewhere between Waldport and Newport for a week of house hunting before my son and his family get moved to Oregon from NJ with the Coast Guard. This location was perfect...but that doesn't say it all. The management company was fabulous...gave us great advice on where "not" to buy and the best info we could hope for to find the right location. On top of that the house was fabulous with a terrific view and easy access to the beach for long thoughtful walks. We saw a ton of huge starfish and sea urchins. We had access to wifi the entire time which made our searches easy and sending info back east for contemplation a snap. Even watched one of the DVDs that were in the house one night and we ate in every meal to save $$$ and give us time to upload info and debrief each day. Just perfect in every way...plus we all had the privacy we needed when we needed it! Thanks again!
A guest from Klamath Falls, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2012 Six friends all gathered here for a weekend away from family. Plenty of room. Clean and comfortable. Had a hard time prying us out of the living room looking out at the ocean....saw all kinds of birds and a whale or two. Beach was easy to get to and Newport and Waldport close by.
A guest from Kaysville, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2012 We've stayed at this vacation rental in the past, and returning didn't disappoint. We had a great time just relaxing. The house is great with big bedrooms and a good gathering area. The home could use a better TV, but the views of the ocean are spectacular.
A guest from Ester, AK recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in February, 2012 We found the rental company through advice from friends who live in Waldport and found the house on the online site. Very clean, cozy and comfortable house with an amazing view. Staff were helpful and professional. If we find ourselves in the area again we would opt for another stay in the house.
Mary S. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2011 Our 17th stay in 5 years. Always clean and in good repair. If problems occur management is prompt and helpful. This house is not for everyone as it is away from stores and restaurants. We always cook in the well furnished kitchen and enjoy the quiet. We enjoy watching the sunset over the ocean from the living room. It is the perfect house for us.
A guest from Sacramento, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2011 This property was perfect for us. We had 4 adults and a 2 year old. We had plenty of room and were quite comfortable. Never made it down to the beach but the view from the windows was breathtaking! We will be back again for sure!!!
A guest from Bend, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2011 We had a fantastic time at Sandalwood. The home was cozy and meticulously clean with a beautiful view. The staff was fantastic - especially when I realized I left some kitchen items in the rental. They immediately tracked down my left items and mailed them to me. I had them within a week of leaving. I was truly impressed! You would not get this type of service elsewhere.
A guest from Junction City, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2011 We had a great time and the weather in November was superb in the morning hours, sunny, no wind, almost short sleeves. Psyco trail to the North was trecherous for anyone with balance problems. The other trail to the South is good for all. The house was clean, warm and cozy. Beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well supplied. Only bad thing was I packed wood for the stove and it was out of order. The house has two levels and the bottom level bedrooms(2) have to go up stairs to use the bathroom. The upstairs bedroom is not the Master, it has two twins. No problem for us, however. Also, the house is well insulated and sound doesn't travel in the house. Made it peaceful and quiet. I would come here again, no problem.
A guest from La Grande, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011 Four of us enjoyed our stay tremendously. From the dining room and with the aid of a spotting scope we saw whales spouting almost everyday. We also enjoyed viewing many birds and especially appreciated the tide pools and all the sea life in them. The house is very nice and clean though the guest in the room with the queen bed woke up with a back ache every day - perhaps time for a new mattress. The neighborhood was very quiet; the paths down to the beach were fine and even fun for us but would be inappropriate for small children and the handicapped or elderly. This home does not use dryer sheets on the linen for which we were greatful but it would be even better if the detergent used and the dish soap and hand soaps were unscented as well. We hope to rent this home again next year!
Teresa S. from Hillsboro, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2011 The view from the kitchen and livingroom in this home are awesome. The house has everything you need and feels like home.
A guest from Corvallis, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2011 You can see the shore quite far both north and south; you can see the waves coming in while sitting in the living room, very relaxing. It was quite comfortable, though the master mattress could stand replacing.
Property Manager Response: Response from Bayshore Rentals LLC We are looking into replacing the master king bed. Thanks for your input.
Melissa E. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2011 We've stayed at this particular home about 5 or 6 times. With Bayshore, probably about 20 times. I love this house. Maybe the only improvements would be games for rainy days and a new coffee maker. The one now takes forever to brew and is very noisy.
Matthew G. from Amity, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2011 I've stayed in many Oregon coast rentals, and the Sandalwood is one of the best deals out there. In addition to stunning views and easy access to a dramatic beach, the house is charming without being gaudy or kitschy. Great open room floor plan on main floor and comfortable bedrooms. The only (slight) drawbacks are no dishwasher and electric heat that can be hard to manage (it gets really hot).
Janet B. from Albany, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2011 Sandalwood is our favorite Bayshore rental. Missing: foil, saran wrap, napkins, ziplocs, dryer sheets. All else perfect! Thank you, we all enjoyed our stay!
A guest from Lebanon, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2011 We had a wonderful time at the coast and the house was perfect for our family. A great place to get away and relax and play games. The weather was beautiful. We hope to stay again when our kids visit from Pa. Thanks.
Pheap C. from Philomath, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in January, 2011 The overall stay was beautiful. The house was beautiful and the location was perfect! The weather was amazing! It was a birthday celebration, the birthday lady said, "This was her best birthday!" the house played a part in making it her best birthday! The only thing about the house I would change was to add more pictues of the ocean and beach items on the walls.
Mary S. from Vancouver, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in November, 2010 This house meets our needs perfectly. Perch above the beach with great views and well stocked kitchen. We do all our meals here. This house isn't for everyone in that the access to the beach is difficult on foot from the house, but less than a mile away by car. Restaurants or groceries are not close at hand. These might be major to someone, but not us. Always clean. Cozy even in winter. 14th visit since 2006 coming in a few weeks.
Melissa E. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2010 Very roomy and clean. My only complaint (and it is small) please buy a new coffee maker! The present one is noisy and takes forever to brew.
The downstairs bedrooms have mold, high smell level
Roy O. from Everett, Washington recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in September, 2010 THe pots and pans were all dirty, heavy grease, cooked on food. We cleaned every pot and pan prior to using.
Chris B. from Milwaukie, Oregon recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2010 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sandalwood. It was clean, well-appointed, with a wonderful view and good access to the beach. We could tell how much the owners care about it and how well Bayshore staff maintain it. We would be very tempted to stay again, but aren't too sure whether the house will still be on the cliff or partially down the hill. It's a little too precarious for us, but we really did enjoy our stay! Thank you.
Paul S. from Claremont, Ca. recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2010 Loved the veiw, very relaxing and enjoyable time. My wife and I came alone this time, would have loved to share this home with the rest of our family.
Stuart P. from Emmett, Idaho recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2010 we saw grey whales migrating right out our amazing view while eating clam chowder at the house.. so cozy... doesnt get any better
Kevin P. from Kaysville, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2010 Overall this was a great stay. I rated the property's general condition a 4 only because the TV was small and cable was limited. Other than that, it was wonderful. For the price, I would come again.
