Nice cabin in great location
Sean W. from Los Angeles, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2016 We had a great time at the Driftwood Lane cabin. It's warm, well-stocked, and has a great view, plus it's an easy drive to the redwoods, to Trinidad, and to Arcata. It's not quite romantic, but if you're looking for an affordable option in the area, this is a great choice.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Glad to hear you had such a great time at the cabin. Hope you are able to visit us again! - Jonna
michael d. from Grand Terrace, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2016 This was our second year in a row to vacation at the Driftwood cabin. It is quiet, secluded, well-stocked with everything that we needed to cook all of our meals for a week. We found new beaches to explore when we found a tide chart on a Patrick's Point bulletin board - didn't know they were there before because they had always been underwater. We found new places to hike - off the 101 near Orick and Lady Bird Johnson Grove of Redwoods. If you want to have a quiet, peaceful, thought-provoking week, there is nowhere else in the world that we would rather be. The only problem with telling anyone else about this place, is that one day it might be too crowded!!!! We will definitely be back for a third visit!!
Lee F. from Hygiene, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2016 This cabin is one of the best vacation rentals we've ever stayed at. The location was perfect, the cabin was comfortable, and amazingly well stocked and taken care of.The cabin is totally private. There are some other houses around but you don't see or hear any of them from the property. As other people have mentioned, it's behind a motel that's perhaps seen better times but don't let that put you off. You're several miles north of Trinidad, which is not exactly booming. So, it's a great place for a quiet retreat.I have to call out the kitchen: the best stocked and provisioned kitchen in any vacation rental we've ever stayed in. Every time I'd think "I wonder if they have X here", I'd look and there it was! Made cooking our meals a pleasure! The yard leads out to cliffs directly overlooking the ocean -- the view is beautiful. You can't get down from there so you'll be driving to get to the beach, but it definitely has that seaside feel. There's a downstairs bedroom with a double/queen bed and an upstairs loft with two singles. It'd be great for a couple with kids. Or just a couple like us.And our dog loved it!We'll be back!
Tyrone D. from Scituate, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2016 Great location next to Patricks Point. The neighbor, The Patricks Point Inn was very sketchy though but made for great urban folklore stories we made up with our kids ( 17 and 22). We also had hoped for a path down to beach but it worked out fine. Single bed upstairs was really uncomfortablefor our 22-year old said she could feel the springs. Our bed was good. Also back screen door was coming off hinges so a little concerned about using it though it was the only door we could lock with key. We didn't need a TV but the one night we tried to watch it there was such bad reception we turned it off. Probably should remove TV unless reception can be recovered. So grateful for the washer and dryer. At least one sharp kitchen knife would have been helpful. All knives are completely dull and we didn't find a sharpener. We had a great time. No major complaints.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We appreciate your feedback and will take a look at those issues. We haven't heard of any issues with the t.V. reception so this is new. We will look at updating some of the other items mentioned. This past year the owner purchased a new sofa. I am sorry you thought this home had a trail to the beach as we do not advertise this house with beach access. Fortunately it is a short drive to some spectacular beaches in Trinidad. Please visit us again. -Jonna
Reviewed by: Megan P. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2016 This cabin is in an amazing location. It is right on the ocean. We saw whales and sea lions right from the backyard. It is also quiet and surrounded by the beautiful redwoods. It was clean, had all the necessary amenities, and the customer service was excellent. We can't wait to come back!
A guest from Redding, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2016 Took the wife to the coast for mothers day. Had a nice relaxing stay at the Driftwood. Few minor thing but not worth mentioning. We love the Trinidad area as it is kind of in the middle of what the coast has to offer.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats What a great way to spend Mother's Day. Glad you enjoyed your stay. If there is anything we can do to improve your next stay please let us know. We appreciate our guest's feedback. -Jonna
A guest from New York City, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2015 Visited in mid-November. Though it was chilly and rainy in Trinidad, Driftwood Lane provided the perfect retreat. We felt like the only people in the world and through the fog we could spot the sea lions and hear them barking. We also received morning visits from a family of deer. The wood burning stove made our stay extra cozy.
A guest from Salinas, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 12 days in October, 2015 We have returned to Driftwood Lane for 10 years. The cabin has a rustic feel and is close to Patick's Point State Park. The location is private and quiet...except for the barking of sea lions. The view is beautiful. Trinidad Retreats staff are helpful and responsive. In general the property is well maintained. We noticed this yer that the leather couch is torn and a little worse for wear. There are great restaurants nearby including Renata's, Foilie Douce and Wildflower Bakery & Cafe in Arcata, and Restaurant 301 and Brick & Fire in Eureka.
A guest from Mountain View, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2015 This property is in a very secluded location north of Trinidad. The only sound we heard were the sea lions. The huge front yard was beautiful and great for playing ball with our dog. Ocean view was great. Note that you do not have beach access here, despite being so close. There were no issues opening and closing the slider (as other reviewers stated) but the silverware drawer is the new challenge. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking supplies. The cabin was clean. The biggest issue for me was the cigarette smell in the house. It was very strong and did not go away despite us lighting a candle. There is only one window to open that has a screen (slider does not), so you can't easily air the place out. The motel behind the cabin does look very dodgy but we were not disturbed by anyone.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We are so sorry to hear of a cigarette smell. All of our homes are strictly Non-smoking. We have not heard of any issue of smoke smell from our staff prior to your review so we will place a Air Purifier in the house to try and remove any residual smell after a proper airing out and deep clean. We will have our handyman take a look at the silverware drawer. Please visit us again and we will waive our cleaning fee for you. - Jonna
Mike F. from Hayfork, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2015 Great place to stay. Very enjoyable! The view was great! So great that other people from, I think, Patrick's Point Inn where using the grounds to walk their dogs. Not too happy about that, but not sure if there is some arrangement with the Inn. Anyway, we enjoyed the stay and will come back.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Glad to hear you had such a wonderful stay. There is not an arrangement with Patrick's Point Inn to use the grounds at Driftwood Lane Cottage. I will contact their manager immediately. Thank you for sharing this feedback. We look forward to you visiting us again. - Jonna
A guest from Chico, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2015 The view was magical. That we could have our dogs and they could play in the large front yard was wonderful. Sound of sea lions. Clean, well equipped, cozy.we would love to return.
Ingrid W. from Portland, OR does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2015 House was very outdated, no dishwasher, old beds. Location was nice except for the fact that it was next door to the most seedy looking inn.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thank you for your feedback. This cabin-style home is not advertised with a dishwasher. Over the past few years we have updated the cabin with a flatscreen t.v. and WiFi. We will look into getting new beds. The owner is visiting soon and will be considering some furniture updates. - Jonna
michael d. from Grand Terrace, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2015 The description and pictures were exactly what we saw when we drove up. It was secluded, a private front yard like a small park, with an incredible view of the ocean. The picnic table was a great place to take a book and cup of coffee and relax. It was far enough off the road that traffic wasn't heard, so it was incredibly quiet. But it was also close enough to the road so you could walk to Patrick's Point State Park (0.6 miles.) There were the seals, but their songs were a nice change from traffic noises, trains, planes, etc. The house itself was very clean and had everything you could possible need. After 7 nights there, it was very hard to leave and return to the "city". Possibly the best vacation spot we have ever been to and look forward to returning there again next year. Thank you for a wonderful vacation experience!
A guest from Mission Viejo, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2015 I have been staying in Trinidad on summer vacations for about 20 years and will again next summer. But never again in the Driftwood cabin. This property looks fine from the outside but inside it is furnished with items a thrift store would have rejected. At $75/night a guest might have felt satisfied. But extra fees made this almost $300/night for us! I have never slept on cheaper sheets and the blanket was in tatters. I could only find one sharp knife which we had to share for cutting our meat at dinner. Most rentals supply a few condiments and coffee/tea. But only salt, pepper and frozen decaf. No screen on back door and slider would barely tracks. Wheels need replacing and probably did years ago. Only bright side was housekeeping had done an excellent job.I can't understand how most reviews were good! Listen to mine.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Wow! What a bummer that you did not enjoy Driftwood Lane Cottage. It is a real guest favorite. I do appreciate your feedback about the cutlery and will look into getting a new set. The bedding in the Master is new this season. I will inventory the under blankets to see if it is time to update. The slider is old and sticky. I will have our handyman oil it again, tough with all the ocean and salty air. I will also look into getting a screen for the slider. The home has been updated with a leather sofa, flat screen WiFi, new pots and pans and bedding all in the last few years. We do manage 22 different homes that vary in price, size and amenities so maybe I can better assist you in finding a home that is more to your liking for a future stay. - Jonna
A guest from Vallejo, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2015 Disgusting: bed damp with dog urine:downstairs bed terrible: tub/shower dangerous; slipped and fell on tile bench, wife slipped also. Need shower mat and more handrails.
Earl and Trace L. from Sacramento, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2014 upon arrival we were surprised, nay shocked at the level of which we found the home. we have been renting properties like this for years, and have learned to we usually need to clean-up a bit before (I) can get comfortable, and we always bring our own bedding and towels - not here!!! the maintenance of this home, and the professionalism of the property management staff is commendable. the location is ideal for private family relaxation. it has all the amenities, and more. and again, I was just so tickled at the level of cleanliness and up keep, it really made for the perfect get away for us.THANK YOU!!!
Richard R. from Junction City, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2014 A sweet, isolated little gem tucked into the trees at cliffside, with a sunset view to the sounds of sealions and the surf below. Plenty of room on the grass lawn between the cliff and the cabin for disc play with the dogs and to picnic, weather permitting. Downstairs bed comfortable for a couple, with two upstairs kid-sized beds, make for a nice family stay. Full kitchen, where we payed forward popcorn, soda and beer for your own pleasant stay. Two banana slugs up! :-)
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Two banana slugs up is the most original response ever received, THANKS! Glad you enjoyed Driftwood Lane Cottage it really is a, "Sweet, little gem!". Hope you visit us again. - Jonna
A guest from Redding, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2014 General Condition: Back patio sliding door was very difficult to open and close. Everything was very dated. Furniture was not very comfortable except for the downstairs bed; it was nice.Property Location: The view was nice; there is a nice picnic table to enjoy the ocean view. When you first drive in you go around an older, run down looking "inn" that is kind of creepy. The inside of the cabin was very clean, and the management company was awesome--especially when we locked ourselves out and need their spare key!
Kimberly L. from Kings Beach, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2014 Had another great weekend at Driftwood even though there was a significant storm! Jonna and crew were very responsive to our calls and helpful regarding downed trees and power outages at the property. Note to property sorry about the loss of your beautiful tree at the edge of the lawn. This was our 3rd stay at the cabin and I always marvel at the trees on your property!
Amy J. from Westminster, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2014 This house was honestly too cute for words. My boyfriend and I stayed there for the weekend and it was absolutely perfect! The house was clean and welcoming. We decided to stay here because of the location and the fact that they were pet friendly. We enjoyed every minute especially listening to the sea lions, they were hilarious! The wood burning stove was nice to have on the night it rained and we enjoyed the fire pit outside the second night to roast marshmallows. My only suggestion would be to have the sliding door looked at, it was very hard to open and close. Also, the location of the fire pit would have been nicer over by the picnic bench or closer to the ocean view. Other than that this rental made for the perfect romantic weekend getaway.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thanks for your suggestion to move the fire pit. Nice idea, we will consider it. We will have our handyman look at the slider. I am guessing you think this house is #1 but didn't realize that our scoring system ranks 5 of 5 as best and 1 of 5 as poor. Since your review was so positive I will assume your meant this house is top notch #1! LOL - Jonna
A guest from McKinleyville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2014 This cabin was the icing on the cake for my families visit from the Midwest. My parents loved the privacy, the comfortable rustic cabin and fireplace, the views and of course the seal ions. It was so nice to spend so little for this experience. Being able to have our dog was an additional bonus. Thanks
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Super! Glad you got to share this experience with your family. - Jonna
Jackie W. from Yakima, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2014 We stayed here in early October. When you first turn onto the road, you may be a bit surprised since it sits behind a run down looking hotel and the neighbors house is...well a surprise also. However, when you pull into the driveway and get to the cabin, it was amazing. You feel you are in the woods with an awesome view and no one around. The cabin is cozy, we had two couples which had plenty of room because most of the vacation was spent either away from the cabin or on the back porch. Couple things could be updated...the beds were not very comfortable and the back sliding glass door needs some work (very hard to open and close). Other than that, we had mostly what we needed, lots of towels, dishes etc. We were slightly disappointed because in the pictures of the property, it seems you are closer to the beach but there is no way to get to the ocean from this property without driving. The view was amazing and the sea lions were very interesting...we researched and figured it was mating season because the barking was 24/7 and you can hear them very well. Overall, it really is a beautiful place. We used the fire pit (which was in a weird location on the property) but was fun. We saw deer, raccoon's, and the occasional stray dog and cat right outside the porch. Thank you for allowing us to stay with you and letting us get into the property early after a 10 hour drive!!
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We have notified our handyman about the slider, and it is now fixed. We are planning on relocating the fire-pit to the ocean bluff before next summer. We agree it needs a better location. The sounds of the sea is a crowd favorite at this wooded cabin, glad you enjoyed the symphony. -Jonna
A guest from Aurora, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2014 We had a wonderful vacation at Driftwood. Everything was clean neat and comfortable. The location has a breathtaking view and large yard. We loved all of the conveniences of home including the small details. Driftwood was just as described. We didn't want to leave. The rental staff was gracious and quickly responsive to any need. Thank you. Hope to return next year.
Alex G. from Chula Vista, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2014 We stayed in this quaint Driftwood home for 6 days and loved it! It's peaceful and there was plenty of room for our family of four. My kids are aged 11 and 7 and had a wonderful time playing in the large backyard with the toys provided. The house is located at a perfect starting off point for whatever adventure you plan for the day. The kitchen was clean and well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals. The only thing that was needed that was not included was a beach blanket. We spent a lot of time at various beaches eating picnic lunches and a beach blanket would have been useful. I give Driftwood top marks for making our vacation time in NorCal restful and perfect.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Great feedback. I never thought to include a "beach blanket" but I will consider adding one before the next summer season! - Jonna
Edward K. from Fresno, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in July, 2014 Hello,We found this cabin to be perfect. We loved having campfires each night. We BBQed on the deck almost every night as well. The large yard allowed for a lot of open play time for our kids. During the day we went on small day hikes on the many trails that are a short drive away. All in all we had another great experience with Trinidad Retreats. A final note, on the last night there we had a small hiccup. The staff at Trinidad Retreats were so nice and professional that they helped make a wonderful end to a fantastic trip.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Glad you had a fantastic trip and we were able to help make your vacation rental stay as smooth as possible. - Jonna
A guest from Chico, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014 Amazing view. Beautiful yard. Cute little cottage. Needs new mattresses on twin beds in upstairs room.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thanks for the feedback about the twin beds, we will let the owner know. It is difficult to please everyone with beds since some like them firm and other's softer but we will keep your comment in mind. Glad you enjoyed this sweet little cottage! Please visit us again. Jonna
Michael S. from Fairfield, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2014 2 buddies and I rode our motorcycles to Driftwood for a 4 day R&R/bachelor party. Great place, great views. Enjoyed the wood stove in the am, fire pit at night. Great local roads/sights/breweries. Watched sea lions and whales from the back yard! Could not have asked for a better place. We'll be back.
A guest from Windsor, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2014 Our stay was very enjoyable. The property is perfect for hanging out and its general location to many sights, beaches, restaurants and the town of Trinidad. Think rustic for the cabin and you will not be disappointed. Might want to bring your own pillows.... The upstairs bunk room worked well for teen age siblings. We would rent this place again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Driftwood is definitely one of our more rustic homes and a real favorite among people coming to experience the Redwoods and great outdoors. I am sorry the pillows weren't to your liking. We just refreshed the pillows this past year but I bring my Temperapedic pillow whenever I travel. Some folks like fluffy, down pillows and others like firm pillows. Check out our Vacation Planner and Concierge Services on your next visit and let us help you book a fun, family activity. -Jonna
Kathryn B. from Huntington Beach, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2014 The view from the front yard is incredible. The cabin was cute and well equipped (dishes, towels etc.). For the most part it was clean, there were a couple of problem areas that needed some attention (mostly around the vents). The place could use some new pillows and bedding, small things. Overall it was a great place to stay, loved the bottle of wine waiting and listening to the ocean at night and sealions in the morning. Definitely would stay again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thank you for staying with us and for your helpful feedback. I will have our housekeeping staff pay more attention to the vent areas. We just got some new pillows and new blankets this past year but will take a look at the linens again. We look forward to you visiting us again. Should have a new flatscreen t.v. there before the summer season too! - Jonna
Rose B. from Portland, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2014 We loved the cabin and the property. It was perfect for our my husband and I and our 3 teenage girls. We will definitely stay here again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We look forward to you visiting us again. -Desiree
Mark G. from San Bruno, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2014 2nd stay at this location. As good as the first will be back.

A guest from Paradise, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2013 We really enjoyed our stay at Driftwood during Christmas week. The weather was spectacular and we enjoyed many amazing sunsets! We chose Driftwood because it was pet-friendly for our dogs. Overall, everything went well. If you bring your pooch, know that this yard is not fenced. Also, bring a bright flashlight for outside visits after dark. This property was cozy and represented accurately in the listing. It met our expectations for the most part and we would stay here again. Location is central, with easy access to beach and forest trails, as well as trips to Trinidad. Be sure to investigate pet-friendly parks--not all welcome dogs, but there are several that are great. There is an excellent brochure available in the house that was very helpful for where dogs were welcome. Thank you for a relaxing and memorable stay!
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thanks for staying with Trinidad Retreats, we hope to see you next year. Yes, it is a great home to stay with pets, we have provided flashlights for our guests. So many of our guest keep coming back to us and we often offer discounts and feebees to our return customers~ Reid (owner)
A guest from Oroville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2013 This was the seventh time we have stayed at this cabin. The sea lions serenaded us in the evening as they lie on the sea stack below. The staff greeted us with a basket of goodies and included a lovely bottle of wine in the refrigerator. Our only complaint would be that the beds upstairs have never been replaced and therefore are somewhat saggy and squeaky. But we love Trinidad and Driftwood Cabin.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats So glad you are coming back each year. We hope you enjoyed the Pie and Thanksgiving Goodies. We will take a look at the beds thanks for the info. See you next year! ~ Reid

A guest from Saratoga, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2013 please replace trendle bed upsatirs with queen bed. I'm 6ft male and I ended up sleeping three nights on the couch. Otherwise it was a perfect get-a-away cabin. Very scenic
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats So sorry you were uncomfortable on the trundle bed. The property is comfortable with your own deers, frogs, squnk and seals just at your doorstep. The areas is quiet and good place to relax.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Yes I agree, Patricks Point Park (only a mile away), Redwood National Park (25 minutes), Elk viewing, beachcombing and the city of Trinidad 4 miles south, make this cabin a great launching pad! ~ Jonna
Jim G. from Alta Loma, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2013 This house was everything we could ask for. For our tastes and vacation style, get away from the crowds and just relax with a glass of wine on the deck, this is paradise found. My only complaint would be that we can't afford to stay longer, but that's due to my budget limitation, not the rental rate.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thanks for staying with Trinidad Retreats, we hope to see you next year. Driftwood is a special place so many of our guest keep coming back to us and we often offer discounts and feebees to our return customers~ Reid (owner)
Brent P. from Dublin, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2013 This property definitely fulfills all the great things people have said about it. My family and I (including two children plus a baby) had a wonderful time escaping from the frenetic pace of the California Bay Area to this little slice of Heaven.
A guest from Redding, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2013 The vacation rental was great for us! It's a cozy little cabin that slept our family of 5 just fine. Although close to town, it's nestled back in woods and you get a feel of seclusion. Loved hearing the sounds of nature.
A guest from Houston, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2013 The view was awesome. We had wildlife spotted in the backyard. The location was great for going to Redwood NF and Humboldt State Park.
Janet S. from Petaluma, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 Checked out alot of rental homes in the area of Trinidad. Close enough for shopping and dining. Day and night ocean views from front lawn was nice. Took some great pictures. Thank-you in making good memories for a old friend and I.
A guest from Nipomo, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 Amazing location on the bluff; beautiful sunsets; really loved being able to bring the whole family, including our dog; overall property in decent condition; inside was clean on the surface; kitchen could use a deep cleaning; all bedding could use an upgrade - sheets/blankets/comforters very old - glad we brought our own warm comforter; managers were friendly & responsive; if one doesn't mind old cabin funkiness, it's fine but seems a few easy upgrades would make it a more comfortable stay; nice gas BBQ & new table and chairs on deck were key!
Amy S. from Tulare, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2013 Very clean rental, great location with amazing views, large property and peaceful. Did not receive code to put trash out and free bottle of wine was never given. However, we fell in love with the area and had a great vacation with our two small children.
John M. from Salinas, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in June, 2013 We've been coming back for over 8 years. Over this time we haven't had to call the property managers but once or twice. This year I called them about a couple of issues. The response was amazing. I don't use that term lightly. Issues were addressed quickly and resolved. The customer service exceeded our expectations. I met Reid, when he and a friend delivered a new table for the deck. My impression is that Trinidad Retreats take care of the properties for both the owners and the guests. They are sincerely interested in providing their customers with a great experience. We thoroughly enjoy our annual retreat to Trinidad, and we keep coming back.
MANDY E. from La Palma, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2013 The place is a great location for a visit to the state parks. Great view and loved the sea lions down below. My only complaint was the BBQ was disgusting. Definitely need a new one and only one burner worked which didn't get much hot, peeling paint and rust was not something I wanted to put my food on. Back sliding door is hard to slide open would have loved to keep it open to have that nice breeze come in, but no screen door. Also would love to see cleaner patio furniture. The overall experience was great though enjoyed the area. Would suggest the location to a friend.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thank you for your feedback. We have now replaced the BBQ and will be getting new deck furniture. The coastal weather is very hard on BBQs and outdoor furniture. I will have our handyman take a look at the slider and see if we can get a screen door as well. I am glad your overall experience was positive. Driftwood Lane Cottage does have a special charm and a spectacular location. - Jonna
A guest from Novato, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2013 We really enjoyed the cabin----it is a little ways out of town but well worth it. Deck chairs could be more comfortable---but wonderful place to relax.
A guest from Hallettsville, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2013 The cabin we rented was wonderful! The lot it sits on is private, beautifully landscaped and slopes down to a lovely high view over the ocean with crashing waves on the rocks, seals and great sunsets. The kitchen, washers, and bathrooms are certainly adequate. The woodburing stove in living room was great for cool evenings. The downstairs bedroom was great but the little twins upstairs were cute, but probablely a little tight for adults. The pictures you have on the internet, do not do this property justice! The cheesy white plastic table & chairs on deck are not that big a deal when everything else is so lovely. Our family of 3 adults and 2 kids loved our stay and wished we could stay longer. Trindad is charming and plenty to do (or not do) and your redwood A-Frame was a great surpirse.
Dan M. from Belvue, KS recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in April, 2013 This was an absolutly beautiful retreat! We spent nine days on our honeymoon in this cozy cabin. It was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect! I mean if you like beautiful sunsets over the Pacific Ocean, gorgeous weather, cute animals, peace and quite, seculded, but close to amenities, and so on! =) We were and are so blessed to see and be apart of such an amazing creation! The redwood forests, the beaches, the light house, and resteraunts are just a few of the fun and exciting things to do here. We had a wonderful time and pray that we are able to do it again! Thank you for a lovely time! God bless! Sincerely, Dan & Angela Mott.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We are delighted you had such a lovely honeymoon stay! We look forward to you visiting us again. - Jonna
John F. from Beale AFB, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2013 This property is in such a beautiful spot with a charming house perfectly placed on it. We enjoyed every moment we spent there. We will definately be coming back! Thank you Trinidad Retreats for great service as well.
Absolute Paradise On The Ocean With Sealions And Redwoods
Steve P. from Encinitas, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2013 It's so beautiful and the location so perfect, it should be one of the 7 "Wonders Of The World". We will come every year and maybe even twice a year. This special place near all the Redwood Forests, on the ocean, and so quiet except for the wonderful sound of the sealions cannot be topped by any resort or location. It's simply Paradise.
Richard R. from Junction City, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 Location was good with a nice clifftop view, albeit close to woodcutting and a mean dog at the neighboring roadside inn. Property was overall in good condition... Driveway entrance and drive around home is in need of gravel or roadbase, presently requiring use of 4WD to keep from tearing up the wet mud. Landscaping was nice and woodsy, but in need of some basic work (weeding blackberry vines overtaking otherwise beautiful azaleas, removing tree branches, fencing off rear yard from the rough impromptu public access down the cliffside). The east-facing front door needs an exterior mat and/or boot brush to keep from tracking in wet debris and mud, while abundant banana slug scat needed to be hosed off the exterior walls and door. The rental was generally in good condition inside, only needing some bathroom upgrades (new vanity and painting of filled holes left by towel rack replacements). All in all, a convenient and homey place to stay from which to visit the redwoods and Trinidad.
A guest from Grass Valley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2013 Trinidad is a wonderful place to relax, hike, and go beach combing. Patrick's Point State Park (only a few miles from Trinidad) is beautiful, with many trails, beach access, and interesting history.
Olivia C. from Ventura, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 Was disapointed that the outdoor furniture was in very poor shape and not clean. One chair inparticular was broken and couln't use to enjoy the wonderful view. The lock box for the keys was difficult to open and even jammed when we attempted to lock the keys upon our departure. Loved the location, minor improvements needed. Not enough fire wood.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thank you for your feedback. We will be ordering new outdoor furniture before next summer, including a picnic table. I will notify our handyman about the lock box. We supply a starter load of wood for all of our guests. The local supermarket sells bundles of firewood. -Jonna
Samantha C. from Roseville, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2012 the cabin and location were awesome. however, the cleanliness of the cabin was very poor. i dropped some food in the kitchen and went to clean in up and there was all kinda nasty grime on the floor. which was interesting when there all kind of notes around the house about guests doing there part to clean up. first it needs to be clean when we get there. the cabinets where the plates, etc, were in had dirt in them. i re-washed everything before we used it. the fridge though was spotless. the bathroom needs re-done and smells like sewer at times. quality of furniture and appliances was very low - much from the 80 -90s, and this was not even good quality 80-90s.the cabin and area were gorgeous. i was disappointed in bringing my friend there though, due to care of the cabin. i wouldn't re-rent.. i'd try somewhere else.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats I am very sorry for your disappointment and will communicate with our housekeeping staff. Winter time is when deep cleaning and updates occur. Please visit us again, we have many lovely more contemporary homes to choose from. - Jonna
A guest from Markt Indersdorf, Bavaria recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 Important: dinnerware, cupboards, drawers, cooking pans and pots, flatware, glasses, and all other stuff rentals should left clean was unsavory. Ketchup under plates, water in bowls, forks used in drawer and much more!!!We started our stay with cleaning one drawer, one cupboard and only this stuff we want to use 2x.!House, rooms, bathrooms, and all other were absolutely clean and we felt very comfortable. Please watch out if your guests left house included clean kitchenware!!!We did and we are sure the following guests are only shocked because of not cleaned other kitchenware we didn't cleant.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We have notified our housekeepers to check all plateware and dishes in cupboards for cleanliness. This house does not have a dishwasher and apparently some guests put away dirty dishes. That is unacceptable and we apologize. We are sorry you didn't notify us until after your stay otherwise we would have sent the housekeeper up to clean everything in the kitchen for you. - Jonna
A guest from Arroyo Grande, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2012 you can not beat the location especially if traveling with your dogs....the back yard and the view at the end are worth the price
Julie C. from Kintbury, Hungerford, West Berkshire recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2012 We enjoyed a lovely two night stay in this property which ticked all the boxes for an English family of five looking for a "cabin in the woods" experience. I loved having the sea at the bottom of th garden (although I didn't see it properly until the morning of the last day when the mist finally cleared!). Trinidad is a great little town, and we enjoyed exploring tidepools at Patricks Point as well. The only downside was a very faint smell of dog in the main bedroom. I know dog lovers must be grateful to find someone to take their pets, but it can be offputting for others. It didn't spoil the stay though. Thank you!
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We are delighted that Driftwood Lane Cottage was perfect for your family vacation. It is a pet friendly home but I will pass along your feedback to our cleaning staff. We do clean carpets annually. -Jonna
A guest from Chico, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2012 We consider this our beach house because we stay here every July. It's comfortable and clean......perfect location.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We love it when customers find their favorite home and come back year after year to create special memories! We appreciate your patronage. - Reid
Debbie T. from Newark, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 greatly enjoyed my stay. Home had everything we needed, but there were a few very minor things: lighting in the livingroom wasn't the greatest, couldn't figure out how to turn on the outdoor lights, and the housekey lock could have used instructions on putting it back together. I would definitely stay again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thank you for your feedback. We will address these minor issues. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Driftwood Lane Cottage. Hope you visit us again.
Eric H. from Longmont, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 Thanks for such a great experience. The cabin was clean and perfect for our three days of exploring the Redwoods. Many thanks!
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Always great to hear our guests enjoyed their stay! -Jonna
Garett H. from Millville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012 Beautiful views and yard. The house needs a lot of updating though.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Glad you enjoyed the views and yard. We will deliver your feedback on needing to update furnishings to the homeowner. Hope you visit us again! - Jonna
A guest from Glendale, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2012 My husband and I stayed 7 nights in Driftwood, and it was our best vacation. The house is a beautiful cabin with a full kitchen, full size washer and dryer, wood stove, TV, and beautiful view of the ocean. We sat out by the ocean at the end of the property each morning and watched the seals with our binoculars. This is a great rental in a beautiful location.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats So glad you enjoyed your stay and got such great weather!
A guest from McKinleyville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2012 This is a charming little home with a lovely view of the ocean. A group of seals was staying on the beach near the A-Frame while we were staying here, and it was a delight to hear them barking throughout the day. The night sky was amazing as well, as with no street lights or city lights, you could see the stars with amazing clarity.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Yea the those Sea Lions are so active at times! Glad you enjoyed Drift wood. Check out our deals at google places and leave a review. Reid
Karen B. from Stoughton, WI recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2011 We spent our first Christmas away from home in 20 years in this beautiful cabin overlooking the ocean. We could hear the seals barking! Loved the wooded, quiet, secluded setting that was close to the beach and Redwoods Natl Forest. Comfy beds, nice wood-burning stove kept it nice and warm. The boys said the long yard leading down to the ocean bluff calls out for a bocce ball set, and I could have used a measuring cup in the otherwise well-stocked kitchen. A perfect family getaway!
A guest from Susanville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in November, 2011 This is an incredible gem! We barely want to say how wonderful it was for fear that it won't be available the next time we want to go back. We loved the rustic charm, cozy comfort, and breath-taking view! That we had to re-wash the dishes and the kitchen lacked a few key conveniences (e.g., measuring spoons/cups) would be the only minor "complaints."
A guest from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2011 This quite cozy house was perfect for our vacation. We have been coming to Trinadad for about 6 years now and this is the 1st time we stayed here and now we will never stay any where else. We Loved it! We will be back next year and many more years to come. Thanks for a wonder home away form home.
Rodney L. from Pleasant Hope, MO recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2011 We had a wonderful time at this little A-frame. It was clean, efficient, had an awesome view and our little dog thought she was in heaven! We took several day trips and it was great to be able to just let her run after being cooped up in the car all day. The only problem we had was that the heat didn't work. Luckily there was a wood stove with plenty of wood so we were able to keep the chill knocked off, but at times it was inconvenient to have to do that. You might want to make sure that this has been fixed before renting this property if you don't want to deal with that. Other than the heat, we were very satisfied and would recommend it!
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Sorry about the heating problem we did get that fixed! Glad you had a great time! Desiree
A guest from Grass Valley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in October, 2011 Positives: The setting - amazing. The view - gorgeous. The yard - big, beautiful. The privacy - wonderful, peaceful. The cabin - adorable.Negatives:The dishes and utensils were not clean, the floors had a dirty film and the towels were rough.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Thanks for the nice review even with those issues. We will be more aware of the dishes and towels.
A guest from Winnemucca, NV recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2011 Negatives first: 1. Slug excrement pretty much all over back of house at entrance 2. deck furniture molded plastic we really could not use it 3. under kitchen sink is moldy and needs to be thoroughly treated 4. bathroom shower curtain liner was slimy and moldy.......i treated the curtain myself because simply did not want to shower with that at my feet 5.spare lightbulbs would be helpful as two bulbs were out on arrival 6. Security: husband thinks deadboldt at back door can be easily accessed by just breaking a window pane allowing entry. The front security light was burned out. 7. General: The entrance to Driftwood Lane is framed by a very unacceptable property that gives all the wrong immediate impressions, makes you wonder what you are headed for if you have not been here before..... 8. considerable cobwebs, clumps of dust (large) at top of A frame at front of house (so easy to remove but not done) POSITIVES: I WOULD DEFINTELY GO BACK AND STAY HERE, EVEN THOUGH.... THIS IS AN UNQUESTIONABLY BEAUTIFUL PLACE THAT DESERVES TO BE BETTER MAINTAINED. THE PROPERTY IS GOURGEOUS. WHEN THE FOG LIFTED AND THE SUN CAME OUT WE COULD SEE, AS WELL AS HEAR, THE SEALS?,SEA LIONS?..THEY WERE SUCH A DELIGHT! THE TRINIDAD AREA/PEOPLE ARE VERY WELCOMING! WONDERFUL ACCESS TO MANY TYPES OF POSSIBLE RECREATION. AS I SAID I WOULD GO BACK IN A HEARTBEAT!!!!! MY HUSBAND AND I WERE ON THIS TRIP TOGETHER MOST OF THE NEGATIVES ARE HIS THOUGHTS BUT TRUTHFUL IN DOING THE REVIEW IT IS IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE PROPERTY TO BE HONEST AND FACTUAL. PERSONALLY I WAS VERY COMFORTABLE HERE, ENJOYED THE WONDERFUL AIR, MOISTURE, SLEPT GREAT, FOUND THE KITCHEN EASY TO USE (IMPORTANT TO THE COOK).
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats We have delt with many of those issues and maintenance. Thanks for staying with us and recommneding it to others.
Gabor N. from San Diego, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2011 very poor treatment from the management: Trinidad Retreats. No customer service is an understatement. I would not recommend the place unless it was managed by a different company. For my $1700 that I paid for a week, I was not treated professionally at all. When I asked to use a different payment than I ghave for the deposit, they charged my credit card and said they would refund my first $1500. Nothing happened for 8 days, as I waited and inquired patiently, I was told to wait and that it was refunded on day 1 and it must be my bank's fault. They even accused me that I was trying to scam them and it was just a plot, I must be having my money. I finally started to track it down, spent 3 days calling them, their payment processing agency and my bank, for no result: it turned out the payment processing never wired the money, they just sat on it then they said it was a software error. To add insult to injury, I was offered a gift certificate which I never received. The rental process of the vacation was truly a disappointment. It's sad that such a beautiful place is represented so poorly by a company you have to go through for the vacation rental and feel like you are scumbag dishing out $1700 for a week. I thought for this kind of money they would treat you at least as properly as a Day's Inn. the house has no wi-fi and a tiny television set. phone reception is poor in the are too. Otherwise the house and the location are both fabulous, we enjoyed it very much.
Sandie N. from Evanston, WY recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2011 The Drift Wood cabin is a wonderful place to stay. This was our second time there. We decided to take my parents and our son this trip and they absolutely loved the solitude of this beautiful cabin. I can not wait to come back.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats That's great you were able to share the Driftwood cabin with your family. See you next year!~Reid
Betsy W. from Chico, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2011 This was our third summer at Drift Wood. We love the location, view of the ocean from the lovely lush garden, and cozy furnishings. It's the perfect getaway from the hot valley.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats Vacation rentals to remember! Thanks for staying with us.
A guest from redding, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2011 Wonderful spot to escape the heat of a Redding Summer. House is small but has a lovely yard and deck with a great veiw.
Linda S. from Redding, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2011 My husband and I have stayed here before and especially appreciate the dog friendly home and yard. The views are exquisite and the ambiance is serene. The home is comfy and well equiped. I marked 4 for cleanliness only due to having to wash dishes before use due to prior visitors use and no dishwasher to help them. This vacation home is well situated and close to excellent restaurants, beaches, and Patrick's Point. We will be returning.
Property Manager Response: Response from Trinidad Retreats So gald you enjoyed the great views!
A guest from Eureka, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2011 What an amazing property! It was a well-maintained and feels like home the minute you step foot on the property! There is lush landscape that has a very maintained yet rustic feel to it. The view from the deck and really, any view from the backyard is breathtaking since the ocean views occupy the horizon. We had a small BBQ with family & the kids enjoyed the backyard the most! The wood stove in the living area was a welcomed amenity, it gets chilly once the sun sets. The home was well stocked and we really enjoyed reading the guest book of past vacationers and their similar experiences of the sea lions, rabbits, and ocean views. It was a delightful and peaceful stay!
LaDawna R. from Battle Mountain, Nevada recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2011 Had the greatest Mothers Day ever. Loved the view..loved the barking sea looking forward to going again.
A guest from Redding, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2011 We recently did a family girls trip and rented this house. The house was small but very clean and cute inside. We loved the stay there. The view of the ocean from the house was great. The view from the edge of the back yard was even better. From there we were able to see the waves crashing and seals sun bathing on the rocks below. We enjoyed our stay at this house very much and would love to come back for another girls trip.
