Poipu Shores B202
A guest from Orangevale, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in October, 2016 We rented Poipu Shores B202. When we booked the rental, we were a little hesitant; hoping that the pictures posted on their website was going to be true. We were not disappointed. It was a very nice 2 bedroom condo with full kitchen, living room, laundry facilities and a lanai area. The lanai area had barstool chairs and table and overlooked the ocean. We had an un-obstructed, 180 degree view of the ocean. Beautiful!!! From our lanai/balcony were able to see a beautiful sunset every evening. We also lucked out with the supplies. There were several beach chairs, one beach umbrella, a large ice cooler, and several beach mats for our use. Be sure to check in first, before renting or buying any supplies. Our unit had several portable air conditioning units (one in each bedroom and one in the living room) which was nice since it was hot and humid. The ceiling fans were just not enough to cool the place down to sleep comfortably. Again, wonderful place to stay, beautiful views, all the conveniences of home.
A guest from Christchurch, Canterbury does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2015 The views are amazing from this unit and we got to watch turtles every morning which was great but inside it is very compact and could really do with some upgrading. The sofa is really uncomfortable- we used one of the beach chairs in the end.The obviously new air condition units take up valuable room ( wall units would have been much better suited) we found we just had no where to put things. The kitchen could do with a bread knife , and a new set of wine glasses!
30th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated at Poipu Shores B20
Melanie L. from Battle Ground, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2015 Aloha! We recently returned from an amazing week at your condo in Kauai and just wanted to let you know that we loved the island feel of our "home" for the week -- much different than the resorts we have stayed in before. The setting was wonderful and we loved seeing the turtles just off the deck (we even spotted a couple of whales!). We weren't even half way through the week before we were figuring out when we can return.
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2014 firat impressions are very important. Upon entering the unit things did not appear right. There was still garbage in trash cans, one bed was completely stripped of linen, and dishes were in the dishwasher. For what we were paying I was not expecting to clean up after the previous guest. Since we had a long day of travel with a toddler I did not have the energy to deal with the situation. The next day housekeeping showed up shocked to find us there. Would not stay again.
A guest from McMinnville, TN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014 Very pleased that we chose to stay here. Only negative was the lack of an air conditioner, and that was only a problem for a short part of our trip.
A guest from McLean, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2014 Great view (saw turtles and dolphins from balcony) but the surf was deafening. Too uncomfortable to sleep since no ac. Master bedroom smelled like cat litter. Beautiful location.
Property Manager Response: Response from Ahh Aloha Kauai Vacation Rentals We have had maintenance and housekeeping sniffing around, and can't detect any smell in the master bedroom, so that is a puzzle to us. Most people are perfectly comfortable without a/c, which is why most properties do not have any, but if the windows were shut to keep out the sound of the ocean, then it would probably get uncomfortably hot, even with the ceiling fans going. Sorry to hear the guest was not comfortable.
Peter B. from Mansfield Center, CT does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2014 The location is Phenomenal. You have the waves crashing right outside the balcony and that was part of the problem. We arrived in the middle of a big swell so the waves were huge and incredibly loud. I love the sound of waves, but the roar was loud enough to wake you from a sound sleep. The easy answer was to close the windows and sliders, but without air conditioning it was sweltering in the bedrooms, even with ceiling fans on full blast. So the bottom line was that I didn't get much sleep, but I was in paradise in a beautiful condo in a great location! The only reason I'm providing this review is to warn people who need a cool, quiet room to sleep. If that's you, this place is not for you. If you love being right on the water with turtles playing in the water right below you, then go for it! The lost sleep was worth it to me.
A guest from Chicago, Illinois recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2014 The property was wonderful, as was the location. The lanai, which overlooked the ocean, spanned the entire length of the unit. It was perfect for viewing the sea turtles that returned every day to play in the surf. In addition, there were sweet smelling flowers surrounding the entire property. A perfect place to relax and soak in the beauty of Poipu.
A guest from West Jordan, Utah recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in May, 2014 The property and condo were beautiful. Listening to the waves every night was heaven. My family really enjoyed the pool at the condo as well. The property management were very friendly and helpful. We had a great time!
A guest from Cobble Hill, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 41 days in January, 2013 Unit is good for 2 people as it only has one bath and no eating area for more than 2 people. Wonderful lanai and great views of ocean. Breakfast on the deck is to die for.
Bill M. from Oakland, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2012 Our principal concern was the generally poor condition of many items in the unit. The main microwave, which also provides stove top light and stove top ventilation, is not working. The shower is falling apart. One of the windows didn't close properly. Much of this can be attributed to rapid salt water corrosion due to the location and seaspray, but nevertheless these items should be taken care of as they occur. Also check the water closet as flammable items are stored right touching the water heater. This is a good location near Poipu beach. Potential clients should be informed of the noise level due to the crashing waves - it takes some getting used to.Check-in check-out flexibility was much appreciated. The agent was very helpful aheqad of time. Please update the WiFi information - it is available across the entire property. NO ethernet connection is needed.
Janet R. from Mission Viejo, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2012 It is truly a Heavenly spot. The sunrises and sunsets were remarkable. And we saw green turtles swimming beneath our Lanai every day.We pretty much ate breakfast and dinner on the Lanai because it had the best view in the world. Nothing could have been more peaceful.
A guest from Cobble Hill, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 34 days in January, 2012 Poipu Shores is a unique property with a wonderful location right on the ocean and a very good pool. The location is close to the main beaches in the area and we took a number of interesting walks visiting other properties in the area. The location allows for daily sightings of turtles, whales and often spinner dolphins plus a clear view of sunset each evening. The unit is very comfortable and has most things required for a longer stay.
Great location with wonderful view of ocean and sunsets
Randy S. from Heath, Ohio recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in October, 2011 Wonderful experience and location. I would recommend this location to others. The furniture in our unit was outdated and showed ware. Screens and locks on balcony doors need to be replaced. Does not have AC which could make the unit very hot in summer months.
Martin M. from Gatineau, Quebec recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in October, 2011 I must admit, this location was part of the success of my trip. This location is great; close to shops, restaurants but far enough so that all you can hear is the ocean and the birds. If you are looking for a great location, that you can feel the ocean in your dreams - this is your spot!
A guest from Gold Canyon, AZ recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in August, 2011 The plus for this unit is a tremendous location perched above a lava cliff. You look straight out to the ocean; to the left there is a beautiful cliff with trees, palms, and below it lava rocks where the waves wash up. To the right is the pool, another lava formation with Palm trees and you can watch and hear the waves crashing there as well. One negative is that directly beneath this unit is a large deck for the unit beneath, so if you look directly down you look at the deck & other people enjoying the view. The rest of the view overcame that for us. While the unit has been updated with granite counters in the kitchen, etc., because it is directly on the water there are the usual maintenance issues; the sliding glass doors are hard to open and close, the screen doors are also difficult to slide. There is no air conditioning; there are 3 very effective ceiling fans, and a floor fan in a closet. We enjoyed beautiful breezes the entire 8 days we were there, but had the three ceiling fans on whenever we were in the unit. This was August and the temps were 84-86 during the day. I suppose if it were over 90, it could be uncomfortable without air conditioning. All in all, we had a marvelous time and still marvel at watching the waves crash and spray, and also the sea turtles. It was very quiet and if you enjoy the ocean waves the location can't be beat.
A guest from Vonore, TN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in January, 2011 B202 is a very out dated condo in oldest building of the 3 in Poipu Shores. One would expect a better level of quality for the price.
A guest from Delta, BC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2010 The condo was very small and quite congested for the four of us. There is only one loveseat and chair in the living room which is directly across from the kitchen counter. No inside eating area other than two bar stools at the counter where you are trying to prepare food. The coffee maker was completely rusted out and needed to be replaced long ago. At first glance the place is beautiful complete with marble floors and granite and is right on the ocean. For two or three is may be perfect but I do not recommend this place for four. There is a very small bathroom (shower only) with nearly no place to put your personal things. The cleaning fee is well overpriced for such a small place. We would not stay there again.
Jay T. from Bothell, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in November, 2010 This condo is beautiful and very nicely located. We stayed for 6 days in November, 2010 and we loved it. It is nicely equipped if you prefer to do your own cooking, which you will try if you visit any of the Kauai's bountiful farmer's market.
A guest from New Haven, CT recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in October, 2010 We stayed at Poipu Shores B202 for 3 nights during our honeymoon. The condo is amazing- chock full of style, amenities and an incredible view. At night we went to sleep listening to the crashing waves and in the morning we watched sea turtles feeding while we had breakfast. The staff seems on top of maintenance issues. They will enter (with advanced notice) to repair things while you are there if necessary. While we were guests there, some hoses to the hot water heater were replaced as a preventative measure due to failed hoses in another unit. Overall we had a great stay and the people we encountered were nice.
A guest from Sacramento, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2010 This location has a beautiful view of the waves crashing on the rocks. The downside is the sound somehow is exponentially increased inside the condo. We had to turn the TV up to full volume and still there were times we could not hear it because of the crashing waves. Because there is no air conditioning in this unit, you need to keep all the fans on, windows and sliders open to get air flow, but at night, when trying to sleep,at times it sounds like a hurricane is outside so that didn't make for a very restful nights sleep. We even went to the hardware store to get earplugs. After a day or two we kind of acclimated to the sound. The location is great for traveling to anywhere on the island. Two out of three sliding glass doors had locks that were broken, so we were concerned about security when we were gone. The shower head practically fell off when trying to adjust the location of the spray inside the shower so we would have to shut off the water, then re-screw on the shower head so water wasn't spraying all over the place from the top of the nozzle. The lockbox on the door to get the key is very old and difficult to use. We called the property manager when we discovered that cable channel 30 and 35 had no sound - all the other channels worked fine. We called and talked to the property manager to report it, he said he would call the cable company to report the problem and call us back with an ETA on when it would be fixed. After two hours of no return phone call, we called back and got voice mail so left a message. We never ever heard anything back on this problem so nothing was ever done. We would have been okay with a call back that said there was nothing the cable company could do but to not get a call back at all was poor customer service. We really wanted to watch channel 30 to see the Ryder cup golf match but didn't get to watch it because why bother without the sound?
After driving 700 miles in Kaua'i, we were convinced we had found the best property
Jason S. from Suwanee, GA recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in September, 2010 Views from the lanai are incredible. At one point, I counted ten separate turtles while eating poke on the lanai. You won't find a location closer to the water in Kaua'i. In fact, it's so close, that the surf may be too loud for you (it wasn't for us). Loved this place - will definitely be back.
We had reserved Poipu Shores Unit B202 for 1 week with high expectations. We arrived and found our reserved unit already rented
Anne P. from Matthews, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2010 We had to sit in our rental car until other arrangements could be made for us. The unit we were given was very nice though could have used some updating. This was no way to start our vacation. Also, the parking seems to be a problem, not enough spaces to accommadate the rentals. P.S. Poipu Shores is not in Princeville. The address was Poipu Shores, Poipu, Kauai, HI in the south most point of Kauai.
Jonathan G. from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2010 The view and the sound are what make this place spectacular. Waves crash against the lava rocks round the clock, and it's soothing. The condo itself is not spectacular, but it has everything you need and it's a great place to hole up.
Karen G. from Dallas, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in April, 2010 We really enjoyed our stay at Poipu Shores Unit 202B. The view is fantastic and the location good for travel to both the north side and west side of the island. The newly remodeled kitchen is great for cooks, but my only complaint is the cookware needs to be replaced as it is incredibly scratched up which makes cooking difficult. Not having air conditioining was a bit of a surprise but with all of the breezes coming off the water (it's only 35 feet away) it was't a big deal. Having the bedrooms separate is also good for two couples. We would definitley book there again (I may just bring my own cookware!)Aloha!
A guest from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2010 The place was great, kitchen was fully stocked, the only not so great thing was that the shower was dirty when we arrived.
We enjoyed our 4 night stay. Location was excellent and the property was perfect for our needs. Only recommendation would be t
