Robin T. from Walnut Creek, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2016 We had a lovely time. The house is well-appointed, light, airy and comfortable.

Kevin C. from Livermore, California recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2016 Ready nice cabin with everything you need for a great time in Big Trees area. We stayed here (family of 5) for 3 nights and were every comfortable.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. Thank you for your review, Kevin. The Gilmore Lodge is one of our nicest rentals and is perfect for several families. The owners take good care of this property and have provided just about everything guests can need to have a comfortable stay. We are very glad you choose to continue staying here and look forward to seeing you for Super Bowl 51 next year!
Jean B. from Moore Park, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 REally enjoyed this cabin as well as Morton. Lovely deck to be enjoyed, great room sizes and very quiet. Super location.
A guest from Los Altos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in February, 2015 We had a fabulous time here! Two families rented the cabin (total 8) and there was plenty of room for two more families to join us in the evenings for dinners and games. Kids enjoyed hanging out in the upstairs "bonus room" and the very spacious "kids" bedroom. As other reviewers mentioned, the lack of blinds in the downstairs bedroom over the garage was an issue. The neighbor's upstairs window can look right into the window. That neighbor did approach one of the house guests mentioning that they noticed our light was on at 1am. Other than that, we had a very comfortable stay and would stay here again.
A guest from Discovery Bay, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2014 This was a very welcoming experience from the moment we entered the front door Christmas music playing. All 10 of us were very comfortable. It felt like home. Thanks Sierra Properties for all the help you extended to us and we will be back!
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. Thank you, Betty, for your comments! We are so glad you enjoyed your time back up in this area. We look forward to having you back!
Lucette Z. from San Jose, Calif. recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in July, 2014 Overall our stay at the Gilmore Cabin was Great. The place was clean and lot of amenities. The only drawback was that there were curtains on the windows which was alright except for the bedrooms. Would like a little more privacy. I would stay there again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. The Gilmore Lodge certainly is beautiful. The owner has chosen to forego the window coverings to afford the beautiful views of the surrounding forest.
Bruce S. from Nevada City, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2013 I've rented other properties through Bigtrees, and Gilmore does not compare favorably. It is roomy, pool table is a big plus, but it is way over-priced for what you get. Master bath smells of mildew (you notice it as soon as you enter MBR); critters--probably bats--live in space above ceilings on both floors; deck boards attached with nails rather than screws, so they protrude in many places making it dangerous for barefoot kids; owners lock all kitchen cupboards not already full of pots/plates, so renters have to keep all their groceries in bags on the floor.
A guest from Salinas, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 8 days in June, 2013 Overall the cabin is very nice but we didn't like the fact that there were not any window coverings in the bedrooms. In the master bedroom you felt like you were dressing in a fish bowl! The master shower curtain was covered with mildew. We have stayed at quite a few cabins over the years but this one will not be repeated!
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals One of the things our guests returning to this cabin like best is the privacy this cabin has to offer and the beautiful view of the trees from the windows. Covering the windows with curtains would ruin the whole experience and atmosphere of this luxury cabin. The owners specifically designed this home to have lots of windows to afford views of the surrounding forest. We will take a look at the shower curtain and replace it if necessary. This property is very well kept by these owners who enjoy sharing their home with others so they too can enjoy a mountain retreat in the sierras.
A guest from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 its a great cabin. lots of room for everyone. activities for kids. nice fire place.getting to the cabin and finding it could be a bit tricky especially in the dark.
A guest from San Jose, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2012 Our family enjoyed our second stay at the Gilmore Lodge. The place is open and airy, and the pool table is a definite plus. The one negative is the lack of curtains in any of the rooms. While there aren't any neighbors close by it still is a bit unsettling to not be able to close curtains at night. But otherwise it's a good place for families, plenty of room and great location.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals Though these guests were aware of the windows not having curtains before reserving, I guess it takes those of us who appreciate the beauty of the trees and mountains to not stress over the lack of window coverings in this beautiful cabin. Watching the snow fall or the wonderful stars in the clear mountain sky before falling asleep at night is one of the reasons I live in the Sierras and what makes this cabin a delight for many of our returning guests to enjoy.
Anne M. from Walnut Creek, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in June, 2012 House has lots of windows, wonderful deck to sit outside and read while listening to the wind in the trees. Quiet neighborhood. Close to Calaveras Big Trees, Bear Valley and alot of lakes and hiking places. Kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, utensils, etc. Great place to stay, except we would prefer to have curtains/blinds on the bedroom windows; that way we can make the room darker so that we can sleep in past dawn.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals From these guests comments it looks like they really enjoyed the Gilmore cabin. It looks like they used the wrong number rating. Really glad they enjoyed this beautiful cabin in the mountains.
A guest from Danville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in November, 2011 Great woodburning stove, big rooms, excellent WiFi, lots of windows, lots of books. We cooked our brined turkey in an unfamiliar oven, and it came out delicious. What could be better?
Robyn F. from Draper, Utah recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2011 After a shaky start using another rental company for our first night's stay in Big Trees; we were elated to arrive at the Gilmore Lodge. It was clean, quiet, enjoyable and well organized. Our group enjoyed the huge deck and BBQ'd on our first night . The pool table, tv and the relaxing atmosphere gave us all what we were looking for . Many thanks to the managers who rescued us from staying another night in the other cabin which was a total nightmare. such nice people to work with! We could tell the owners had anticipated everything we would need and had it there waiting for us. We would definitely come back to the gilmore lodge again!
