Spencer cabin at Blue Lake Springs
Rick H. from Brentwood, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2016 If you are looking for a cabin in the woods that will sleep 8 adults and all the kids, this is the place. The cabin was clean and comfortable.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. We are so glad to hear you had a good holiday. The Spencer cabin is great for family getaways.
Derek A. from Fremont, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2015 The home was perfect for 4 families, very quiet location, the rec center was a blast and awesome bonus, the kids enjoyed the talent show. Going over to big trees and relaxing. Thanks for sharing your home with us.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. We are very glad you enjoyed your visit and hope you will stay with us again in the future!
Alice K. from Piedmont, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2014 We made the best of it, but I would not rent this cabin again. It's dark and has no deck to speak of. That said, it has plenty of bedroom space. Also there are no window coverings in the bedrooms on the second floor which made for early morning wake ups! There are TVs in all the bedrooms, but not in the living room. We were there during the world cup, and had to pile into a bedroom to watch (after we had to fix the cable connection--thank goodness we had a TV expert with us or we would have ended up in some bad bar in Arnold! ;)) Were I the owner, I would 1. build a deck along the side of the house (without a roof, which the tiny deck that's there has--we took the chairs off the deck and sat under the trees), 2. put up window coverings on the second floor, 3. open up the first floor to make it brighter (i.e., take out the wall between the kitchen and the living room with the cupboards that are mostly empty anyway, except for the gazillion puzzles--we did enjoy doing a puzzle during our stay, and 4. put a TV in the living room.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. This guest was informed that there was no tv in the living room, but that there is a television set in each of the bedrooms. Many owners of cabins in the area elect to have covered decks to alleviate the snow load that has to be moved in the winter. We will forward the comments about the window coverings to the owner, though often times owners do leave window coverings off homes in the mountains to afford better views of the surrounding forests. Cabinets are often left open for guest use during their stays. All cabins do come equipped with basic cutlery, dishes, cookware, and glasses for guest use.
Deborah L. from Fresno, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2013 Our family stayed in the Spencer cabin for our son's wedding. We had 4 married couples and 4 kids 4 and under. The cabin was more than big enough for all of us. Not often do you get a choice of 4 king sized beds! plus more. We hosted a brunch the day after the wedding and had more than enough room for all to sit and eat. The only draw backs would be a little mold build up in the master bath upstairs, cobwebby windows and the kitchen stove really needs to be replaced. The burners do not all work properly.
A guest from Rocklin, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 The house itself was nice, but the problem was with the checking in process. We got to Arnold late and were told to just get the packet from outside the door of the realtor's office. Well the website calls the company Sierra Vacation Rentals. We drove around for over an hour looking, in the dark, trying to find Sierra Vacation Rentals. In the end, it turns out that they also go by Big Trees Realty. We finally found that location only to find that we needed a combination to get into the lockbox for the packet of info and keys. We wrote down the emergency phone number on the top, and then had to drive around town to find a pay phone since our cell phones don't work up there. At that time, we were finally definitely taken care of, and Dan was very sweet and gave us the combo and directions to the cabin (which we hadn't been able to find with GPS or Googlemaps) In the end, it worked out and we all got there, after my niece had gotten to the cabin, noticed we hadn't gotten there yet, so she went to the realtor's office, only to find that we had already gotten the packet in the meantime. So it was a real fiasco getting there, but once we were all there and settled, we had a wonderful time, and the cabin was great.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals These guests obviously did not read their late arrival information on their rental contract nor the arrival instructions and directions to our office that we send to all of our guests prior to arrival. It sounds like they needed better communication with their extended party. Glad they enjoyed their stay and made it to the cabin safely. We are always available at our emergency number when our guests need assistance.
John S. from Vacaville, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2011 Great location and plenty of parking. Spacious place with lots of bedding (4 king beds!). Was disappointed with the stove, original installation (antiquated) with only one of the four burners that would work.
Reviewed by: Ben G. recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2010 Location was convenient. House was in OK shape. Beds / Furniture / Kitchen Appliances / carpets /paint / floors need attention and updating. Phones did not work. Mgmt was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves. Thanks
Virginia S. from Lafayette, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2010 None of the wall heaters worked. The stove was not suitable for heating the house. The dishwasher was full of dishes. The house was not immaculate (mold in bathrooms, etc).
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals Sure wish this tenant had called our office if they couldn't get the wall heaters working during their stay. They are working fine, looks like the breaker had snapped off. No indication of mold in the bathrooms.
