vacation in the woods
A guest from Springfield, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2015 Our stay was very nice. The setting was lovely. Even though it was in a neighborhood of cabins it felt like you were alone in the woods sitting on the deck. Everything worked well.
Wendy S. from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2014 This was the perfect for our family to enjoy the holidays and be in the fresh mountain air. The design of the house made it ideal for all of us to have our own baths and privacy. The hot tub is one of the best ever! We have been coming up to the Bear Valley for about thirty-seven years and this was one of the most enjoyable houses ever! We would definitely rent it again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. We are so glad you enjoyed the Pratt cabin! It is a fabulous rental and one of our most popular in Blue Lake Springs. Soaking in the hot tub with a view of the trees is certainly a favorite among guests. The new hardwood floors and flat screen t.v. are also a plus. The cabin does have a very warm, open feel and is located in a beautiful area. We are so glad you enjoyed your Christmas there and hope to see you again soon!
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in June, 2014 We were disappointed in the closet space. The closets were full of stuff and there were no dressers. The other issue was the garbage. There was no pick up and no where to store the garbage. (garage or can) Other than that the house was very clean and worked well for our family.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Real Estate, Inc. Thank you for your review. The owner has been notified of guest comments regarding lack of closet space and dressers. Regarding the garbage, unfortunately we are in the mountains. Garbage cannot be stored outside without attracting local residents such as raccoons and bears. Guests are advised to take trash to the refuse center in town.
Jim H. from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 We had two cabins that were close -- Chalet Famiglia (terrible) and Pratt, which was far superior and less expensive. Pratt had some cleaning problems. The cleaning team could have paid a bit more attention to the bathrooms. But the air conditioing was good, the hot tub was great and the lay-out was exceptional. Recommended.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals Glad to hear that these guests had a good time at the Pratt cabin. It is a great property. The hard water in this area can cause staining in toilets and sinks, making them appear less clean than they really are. Our housekeeping team works very hard to ensure all properties are as clean as possible.
Glenn W. from Davis, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2012 Overall a nice property. We have stayed here before and appreciate the recent improvements (flooring, new TV and wireless) We would stay here again. We specifically chose this property because of the hot tub. The hot tub is in great shape and clean. However, the hot tub seems to trip the breaker often and we have to reset the breaker 4 times during our 3 night stay. We also like this property because it has plenty of space around it to play/sled. They say space for ten, but we did not really find were #10 would sleep, maybe couch? My biggest concern is that there were no operating smoke or CO2 detectors located on property. Also there were only 7 dinner plates (again sleeps 10). A quick trip to IKEA would solve this.
A guest from Sunnyvale, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2012 The cabin was nice, location was beautiful but my rental experience was horrible. First of all, I was told 3 different check-in times (one one website, another during rental process, third on contract). We are given very little time for them to receive the check. The amount we were charged for cleaning for 2 day rental is highway robbery and we were charged to repair something that was already damaged when we came.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals Our check-in time is 4pm. We try very hard to honor early check-in requests but sometimes it is not possible for the cabin to be prepared early if cleaning is needed prior to guest arrival. We must receive the balance of rental payment at least 10 days prior to guest arrival. If reserving at the last minute credit card payment is required. Our cleaning fees are competitive and very fair. Our staff checks each cabin prior to guest arrival. Unfortunately, this guest did not want to admit to the broken stair railing which was found by our staff upon their departure and was intact upon their arrival. All of our cabins are privately owned and our owners are making them available for guest enjoyment. We have a great returning cliental and take pride in the quality of rentals we have available for guest enjoyment. We like our guests to remember they are guests in someones home and we have the responsibility of maintining these properties so guests will return year after year. We do state on our rental contract to call our office if you find something broken upon your arrival.
A guest from Wilsonville, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2012 We left a list of several items that needed attention in the Pratt cabin. We also suggested that an instruction she for operating the TV, hooking up the wireless, etc. be included with the packet. Given the inconvenience of no phone (we had a relative who was I'll and could not have them communicate with us), the inability to lock the door, the inability to use the TV, etc., an adjustment in the high cost for this cabin would be in order.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals Thank you for your feedback. This is the sort of information that is invaluable to us! The door lock, tv and phone service have been fixed. We hope that you will come back and stay again!
We actually had a wonderful time in the cabin but disappointed in the cabin listed as 4 star
A guest from San Jose, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 10 days in June, 2011 Some problems that could easyly fixed: Porch light out. Chipped and cracked dish/coffee cups Dishes and glasses had to be washed befor use. Sink in bathroom chipped and rusty. No chester drawyers or mirror in two of the top sheet for one of the bunk beds. 'other bed' listed and shown in photo missigNot enough dishes for 8 persons(3 cereal bowls, 4 small plates.Cob webs on window sill. Toaster shuts off after two uses. Coffee pot flashing 'needs cleaning' first time we used it.Stove fan very very dirty
Lou Z. from San Jose, USA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2010 After the Tough Mudder race for myself and 10 of my closest friends, the Pratt house was a very comfortable and inherently relaxing place to take care of our achy legs. Very well maintained and great deck to entertain all night.
A guest from San Jose, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 9 days in July, 2010 Cabin is in beautifal setting and enjoyed our visit. We even saw two bears in the distance. I do have a few maintenance complaints about the cabin. The refrigerator was full of old food. I threw out things that were spoiled. The ceiling fan in the smaller upstairs bedroom did not work. Also, every time the air conditioning kicked on, the cable TV lost its signal. It came back on within a few seconds, but each time the program guide was wiped out until it reloaded over the next few hours. Also, there was a nail sticking our from the back of the lower cabinet door in the bathroom and carpet tacks on the floor at the door to the large upstairs bedroom...not good for children. The knobs for the shower in the upstairs bathroom are loose and one came off in my hand. Rusty condition of the sink and toilet need to be addressed. Minor repairs - but need to be fixed. For the amount of money charged for rent and condition of the inside of the cabin, I won't rent it again.
Property Manager Response: Response from Big Trees Vacation Rentals Sorry to here these guests were unhappy with this cabin. We have many guests that return to this cabin year after year. Everything is removed from the refrigerators & freezers in our cabins prior to tenant arrival. If something was missed a phone call to our office should have been made. Sure wish these tenants had called us for any maintenance issues, we are available by phone 24 hrs. and would have gladly taken care of these minor repairs. This cabin has a wonderful setting and is comfortable, clean and enjoyed by many, sorry to here these guests were not pleased. Our cabin rental prices are very competitive. We just can't rent cabins at hotel / motel prices.
Jenny B. from Oakland, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in February, 2010 The wifi didn't work; the land line didn't work, there were some things that really needed to be fixed, but other than that, it was a comfortable place.
