Lovely place on the water

On the Bay condos are nicely situated with a private beach and cove. Because there are only 12 condos, we had the pool and beach practically to ourselves. The condo is very spacious, and there were plenty of towels. We are scuba divers and typically stay closer to Ocean Frontiers Dive shop, but our usual place wasn't available this time. On the Bay is a little further for us to drive, but not substantially. Overall this was a very good rental. The downside is that the master bedroom bed was loud - turning over during sleep typically woke one of us up. And our daughter reported that the twin bed in the second bedroom was really hard. The water was completely turned off for two mornings without advance notice to us. We were told that the water company was working on it.

Property Manager Response:
Thank you for your review and the feedback about the bedding. This is something we will definitely bring up with the owner. We were very sorry to hear about the water being turned off during your stay and hope that it didn't cause too much inconvenience.
It is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed the peaceful beach area! Please keep us in mind for your future diving holidays and we will hopefully be able to accommodate you.

Happy travels,

If you like to get away from the crowds and bustle of the tourist areas in Georgetown and Seven Mile, this condo is just right for you! Just around the bend at the end of Frank Sound Road, the Northside location is quiet -- a great place to relax without the hassles of town.

A sea pool has been cut into the iron shore about 200 feet from your door. I would wear swim shoes or dive boots to use it as many pieces of broken coral and other sharp objects litter the floow -- but it is the sea, so what do you expect!

A freshwater pool is just a few steps from the patio.

The patio itself is small but comfortable. On the first floor, the condo does not have any real view to speak of, but the flowering plants around the patio are well maintained.

The barbeque grill outside was poorly maintained, and we decided against cooking on it since it would have taken us far too long to clean it up. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice grill, it just hadn't been cleaned well by the last user and had clearly sat unused for some time after. It just needed a scrubbing and, hey, we were on vacation!

Solid comfortable furniture inside, central air, satellite tv. All very nice. Master bedroom TV has no cable and a note saying for Dvds only. Another note says you can find Dvds in the living room, but there were none.

New appliances, well fitted kitchen. Nice dishes. Washer and dryer in the condo. Everything was well maintained.

Overall a nice stay and we would consider staying here again

This is our 2nd time staying at On the Bay, the first time in #104. We have been vacationing in the Cayman Islands for many years and would recommend this complex to anyone who wants to avoid the crowds and congestion on other parts of the island. #104 was clean, comfortable, and fully equipped with easy access to the sparkling pool and beach. Although we could hear the sound of the ocean from the patio, most of the view is blocked by overgrown plants, something which could be easily corrected with simple pruning. The grounds and building were clean and well kept otherwise. We enjoyed excellent meals at Over The Edge, Rum Point, the Lighthouse and had fun listening to the Barefoot Man at The Reef and visiting the Turtle Farm. We will definately stay here again.

Great value on the quiet side of the island. This unit, being at the back of building, does not have window views of the ocean but the private beach is only steps away. Unit was clean, comfy and outfitted with everything you need to have a wonderful stay. Kurt's restaurant is in walking distance and has the best fish and burgers served by the best ladies around.

We had an amazing stay at on the bay #104. The area of the island was perfect for us, we like quiet and in touch with nature! Gazillions of hermit crabs on the rocks, little lizards, and the occasional iguanas kept the boys entertained. The pool was the perfect size for our kids ages 13, 11, 9, & 5. The private beach was incredible, with enough fish & other sea life to make a lasting impression on our first time snorkelers. The condo itself had everything we needed. Wait, it could have used a cooler for our picnic lunches, and to keep our beers cold by the pool. We cooked in for 4 or 5 dinners during the week, and it had all the kitchen supplies necessary. The decor was perfect for the islands, and all the facilities, air conditioning, doors, etc worked well. The common areas were kept clean & raked, and Cayman Villas was very willing to help us, but everything was perfect, we never needed additional help! To any other families of 6 who are planning to stay here, don't hesitate, there's plenty of room. Location was perfect for us, but may be off putting to those who don't want to cook. We did go to the area restaurants and they were good, but gets pricey fast with a family.

On the Bay # 104 is a decent condo. We found the unit clean and ready when we arrived. I asked the Cayman Villa Company several times about access to the small man made lagoon for elderly people. We were told access was good. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Entering the water here is like climbing down a mountain side if you are have limited mobility and/or not a lot of leg strength. Once in the water, you had best have a strong young person there to pull you out. Otherwise, you will be there forever. The location of the unit is in the rear of complex. Furthest from the ocean. The Cayman Villa people did not seem to know this fact. I should have been suspicious because they never answered the question about ocean proximity directly. Overall, the complex is located in a nice private area, and if you are not mobility impaired I would recommend it. My next Cayman visit will include more direct questions about water entry and exit ease for older and mobility impaired people. Lastly, the beds are very uncomfortable and the sofa bed is not suitable for sleeping.

We were after something different from 7 mile beach and got it! The apartment itself is very spacious, comfortable and contains everything you would expect from a holiday rental. Towels, linen, detergent, soap, shampoo all provided - which was a nice touch.
The facilities at On The Bay resort are limited to a pool, bbq and a sandy beach around an inlet. It is impossible to swim in the ocean directly behind the complex as there is no access - the jagged rocks make it too dangerous.
The closest restaurant is Over the Edge, which is only a mile up the road in the direction of Rum Point. Tukka restaurant is in the other direction and a little further. Both are worth trying.
Cayman Villas were easy to deal with. Keys ready for us at avis even though we arrived late at night. The only disappointment was having to drop the keys back to them (near the airport) even though we were not going in that direction. Leaving the keys inside the apartment when we left would have been a better alternative.

In general - good value accommodation away from the bustle of 7 mile beach.

We stayed in this condo in april after the Easter holidays so it was very quiet ( except for my noisy kids). We often had the pool or the small private beach to ourselves. The condo was really amazing. Very spacious, clean, up to date. We had pretty much everything inclusive of ironing board, washer and dryer ( which we didn't use), utensils, everything you could possible need except for food. We drove to Georgetown/7 mile beach a lot but spent much of our time in the North side. Cayman Kai which is further North is beautiful and although the public beaches were quite rocky, there were areas that were sandy and great for kids for eg. Lots of reefs for snorkelers although we have small children and could not enjoy that. This is a great place for families with children or people who want to escape. We do not like very touristy areas that are busy and it was perfect for us.
Oh, and we would highly recommend Cayman Villas overall. They are second to none in customer service.

We had a great & relaxing vacation here. Staff was very helpful in providing us with a crib.

Dont' expect vibrant nightlife in the direct vicinity - there is little or none, and we wouldn't have cared for it. Also don't expect a sandy beach on the premises: the beach is rocky, but there's a small but nice artificial one, large enough for swimming laps. A great public sandy beach is at Rum Point a few miles west. Restaurants we liked: Over the Edge and Tukka. Best get groceries at the airport. Queen Elizabeth Botanic Park was beautiful.

A comfortable large unit close to the beach. Short distance to great snorkeling, small grocery store and restaurant. The unit was not cleaned or sheets changed when we got there, but clean sheets and pillow cases were available for us in the closets.

The best thing about the unit was its size and location. The unit needs a vacuum that can deal with sand

Checking in was easy and quick and the directions to the unit were very helpful. The unit itself was very clean and well looked after. We stayed for five weeks and found the unit and the whole complex to be quiet and relaxing. We had all the kitchen items needed to prepare most of our meals. The dishwasher only worked on the heavy cycle, other than that everything else was fine. The barbecue used by the complex was in bad shape and needs to be replaced. The location of On the Bay is on the north side of the island and a vehicle is definetely needed. The complex has a small beach and a small cove to swim or snorkle. On many of the days we were the only ones on the beach. The grounds of the complex are very well looked after; neat, clean and tidy.

We stayed at Kaibo Yacht Club 26C from 12/23/11-12/28/11. Although the location was beautiful, we were very disappointed in the accommodations. We arrived Friday night to find we had no Wi-Fi or phone service making it very difficult to make reservations for activities on the island. The phone was repaired Tuesday night after we had driven all over the island to find information about activities. We were never given a call that the phone was fixed so we didn't even know until we saw a box on the counter when we returned home. The unit never did not have hot water in the showers, a light fixture was broken leaving a bare bulb, pieces of a window shade were missing, and a few of the pillows were so old they should be thrown away. Yes, I could have called to report all these items, however I called about the phone and never heard back. I'm not going to spend my family vacation locating the property manager to report obvious defects.
We were so disappointed in Cayman Villas we chose to stay somewhere else rather than take on another potential disappointment at Old Man Bay.
This vacation was a big investment for us, and I understand that we booked late and it was a holiday. However, arriving to find no phone service or hot water at $400 per night is beyond the pale.

My wife and I enjoyed a delightful 4 days in the Cayman Islands and were based out of this lovely condo.

The location is about 30 minutes from the airport at Georgetown and we rented a car for the time on the island.

The location was quiet and the weather was in the low 80 degrees range for our entire stay. With a car it was easy to travel through out the island.

The condo itself was in great shape and really close to the pool and beach area of the complex.

If you are looking for a place at reasonable costs that allows you to enjoy the beauty of Cayman and be away from the crowds I would recommend this unit.
