Our pair of cottages is offered as a unit. The estate is particularly suited to larger families, up to 12. Bass fishing season runs from 28 June to end November 2008.Stay at one of the original summer estates on Indian Lake. This beautiful log cottage stands amidst towering pines, overlooking one of the prettiest views on the Rideau. Clear lake frontage of 275 feet offers excellent swimming, sunbathing, diving right off the large dock, a sunny Western exposure and a stunning sunset view. A lovely secondary cottage makes this the perfect spot for large families, or for two families holidaying together. This property is extremely private. The single lane roadway running behind the property comes to a dead end after a few more cottages. Woods and trails lie on the other side of the road. Trees on this two acre property offer excellent privacy including from the dock. Rock Island, which can be seen in one of the pictures, is uninhabited. The main log cottage has a 30 foot screened veranda across the front, a large log interior living / dining room with stone fireplace, a full bathroom, three bedrooms, two with queen size bed, and one with a pair of double beds, all on the main floor. There is a fourth bedroom upstairs with a queen size bed and attached half bath. The newly renovated main kitchen has a new stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, utensils and table. The smaller white cottage has a 24 foot screened veranda looking out over the lake plus a spacious living room with stone fireplace, bathroom with shower, and two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and the other with a double bed. The kitchen is well equipped with stove, refrigerator and cooking utensils. Both cottages have easy access to the boat house, dock and lake. A stone outdoor wood fireplace with grill is close to both cottages with a picnic table for outdoor eating. A propane BBQ is also provided. The clothes washer and dryer are placed conveniently for access from both cottages. This handsome pair of cottages allows for comfortable accommodation for 12 in the six bedrooms. Our septic system is rated for a maximum occupation of 12, which limits the size of families. The TV is a LCD wide screen hooked up to satellite and the DVD/CD player is an XBox 360 with a limited collection of games and movies. There is a wireless high speed internet connection for those who wish to bring a laptop and stay connected. Hot water tanks, firewood, drinking water (UV disinfected) are all provided, as are bed linens and towels, including 8 beach size swimming towels. Please bring your own personal swimming gear such as flippers, masks and beach shoes. The boathouse takes an 18 foot boat with up to a 6-foot beam. A pair of mooring whips on the dock provides mooring for a wider boat. Canoe, paddles and life jackets (4 adult) are provided. You will have access to five connecting lakes on the same level and the rest of the Rideau Lakes are accessible through the Locks. The area is known for its beauty, deep, clean water and excellent fishing, offering largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, pike and splake fishing in season. Loons, blue herons, osprey, wild turkey, rare songbirds and deer can be observed in their natural habitat. Indian Lake is on the Rideau Canal system, near Chaffey's Lock. Groceries, bank, drugstore, and post office are ten minutes away in the town of Elgin; pubs and shopping can be found in Newboro and Westport, about 20 minutes away. The nearest city is a 45 minute drive to Kingston, and Canada’s capital, Ottawa, is a 90 minute drive. Your family will enjoy excellent swimming and water sports, colourful sunsets, and clear starlight nights. A holiday to remember.
