St Julien is at the end of a very minor road leading nowhere, except to the banks of the River Dordogne (with the very pretty village of La Roque Gageac opposite). The house has been totally renovated to a high standard, and is located in a quiet lane with a small lawned garden to the rear. The house has three bedrooms, a large lounge/dining room; kitchen/breakfast room and two bathrooms. It is therefore ideally situated for exploring the beautiful region of Black Perigord and sampling the local specialities in the many excellent restaurants nearby.
The Black Perigord dominates the Vezere and Dordogne Valleys. A countryside timelessly beautiful since prehistoric times. Montignac, Font-de-Gaume, les Eyzies-de-Tayac (Prehistoric Capital) la Roque-Saint-Christophe, le Bugue, Limeuil, Terrasson, Saint-Cyprien and Sarlat, Gastronomic Capital, these are the high points. There too many castles and caves to mention. Bergerac airport is 1 hour drive only. Activities Leisure lovers, passive or sportive, will find everything to their taste – Golf in Vitrac (8km away), River Boat trips in the " Valley of five Castles ", Mountain bikes and canoes-kayaks in Prehistoric Valley, the Goose farm at Campagnac, swimming in the Dordogne from Saint-Julien or Cenac (it's possible to swim in the river Dordogne, which is about a 500m walk through the village). Fishing is also possible. Within the area there are many historical chateaux (Castlenaud, Beynac, Les Milandes, etc) and the "bastide" town of Domme, plus the caves at Les Eyzies and museums of pre-historic life in the Region. For walkers, the French GR64 passes the front door, and enables a very pleasant walk to Castlenaud.
