Description:
WELCOME TO BEACH HEAVEN

We invite you to be at one with nature and experience a pristine area on the Bay of Fundy shore. We are delighted to offer you our glorious Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea, 60 acres of beauty and tranquility with seven quality, two and three bedroom beach houses and over 1000 feet of beach front (with private access) leading onto miles of all but deserted red sand beach. All of this is just 1 hour north of Halifax or 45 minutes from Halifax International Airport. Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea are about 4 hours driving time plus 2.5 hours sailing (ferry) time from Bar Harbor Maine.

SHORE HAVEN HOUSE BY THE SEA

Shore Haven offers the opportunity for the vacation of a lifetime, absorb the sites and sounds of the Atlantic ocean and the beach. It's a peaceful private sanctuary on the Atlantic ocean, with all modern conveniences, breathtaking views, a private beachfront where you can swim in the mellow salt water, explore tidal pools, surround yourself with the experience of the ocean sounds of surf, walk for miles on the sculpted sand beach, or enjoy pastoral fields, and wooded and brookside walkways.

Shore Haven is far from the hustle and bustle of city life; and yet it's still close to all that the city offers, if you choose.

This custom built, modern house of exceptional quality provides superb, luxury accommodations for up to 12 people (four bedrooms, 2 bathrooms).

The main level offers over 1,000 square feet of first-class living space. It's wonderfully designed to capitalize on the amazing ocean views and great floods of light. The living room, dining room, & kitchen offer a spacious open-concept layout -- with huge windows looking out over the water. For an outdoor view of the water, patio doors lead from the dining area onto the large deck -- complete with a gas barbecue. All of this is tastefully decorated with high quality & comfortable furnishings (a sofa and three recliners) hand-crafted leaded-glass light fixtures, and original art. The gourmet kitchen with hand-built butternut cabinetry is completely equipped with six full-size appliances -- a dishwasher, fridge, stove, washer, dryer, and microwave.

The main level has two spacious bedrooms -- both with queen-size beds. The master bedroom is furnished with contemporary Scandinavian teak furniture. It features an ensuite door to the four-piece bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. The second bedroom (queen) offers a wonderful view of the water. The bright ground floor of the house provides 2 more bedrooms (queen, twins) a 3 piece bath with superb sit-down shower and huge ocean-view recreation room.

A private and very charming ocean view summer house (with ocean view deck, three piece bath, kitchenette, a double pull-out and bunks ) is also available for an extra rental fee of $600 Canadian. This is a perfect private space for large groups or a quiet retreat for reading, relaxing and listening to the roar of the surf.

WHAT SPECTACULAR LOCATION!!

The location of Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea, the Noel Shore, is rightly known as the 'undiscovered jewel' of Nova Scotia, the area offers un-paralleled ocean views, miles of all but deserted beaches, the awesome spectacle of the world’s highest tides and a unique and traditional experience of Nova Scotia. We are delighted to share this peaceful 60 acres of "heaven" with others who also want to walk gently on the earth and preserve its beauty and peace. All of our guest services emphasize and illustrate care for the environment.

Have the holiday of a lifetime, an Eco-Vacation-By-the-Sea, at Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea in Tennecape, Nova Scotia, Canada. Absorb the astounding views; listen to the roar of the surf from the world's highest tides; swim in the mellow salt waters of the Minas Basin; walk on the beach for miles in an area famous for fossils; explore the tidal pools as well as the woodlands and meadows; fish for sea bass; follow our Trout Pool Brook to the very special place where it burbles gently across a sandstone shelf and cascades in a beautiful little waterfall to the sea, watch the abundant wildlife (including deer-this year one of our does had twins!-, eagles, quail, pheasants, humming birds, osprey, owls, rabbits, raccoons and foxes), discover the old Acadian house foundation near Evangeline Brook.

We are directly on the ocean (Minas Basin), with miles of hard red sand/pebble beach that can be walked or jogged (or carry your mountain bike down and ride for miles and miles) and at low tide there is a captivating vast sweep of sculpted, walk-able tidal sands. There is private access to the beach along a path to the shore and down a short flight of stairs (vertical height of 8 or 9 feet). Guests can relax with such activities as long walks on the beach in an area famous for fossils and rock specimens (including amethyst crystals), and ocean swimming.

The beach, the sea, the woodlands, Evangeline and Trout Pool Brooks, the birds and animals and an amazing evening sky offer so many opportunities for being “re-created” and restored by the beauties of the sea and nature.

All of these many and varied activities are available without ever leaving Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea, which are fully equipped to be your ideal vacation home.

SO MANY ACTIVITIES AT YOUR FINGER TIPS

The immediate area also offers many interesting activities. The beaches, villages and rich farmland of the spectacular “Noel Shore” are just moments away. Experience a step back in time with the warm hospitality, unique shops, antiques, artisans, crafts, farm markets, quilts and hand hooked rugs, preserves, quality "new-to-you" clothing, fishing wharves, restaurants (from down-home to gourmet dinning), historic churches and museums of seaside villages such as Newport Landing, Sommerville, Noel, and Maintland or the pastoral beauty in the traditional Mennonite community in West Northfield. Excellent guided tours, detailing the unique geology and local folklore are available.

Visitors are welcome at the many local attractions.

A great destination for a bike ride or a short drive, the fully serviced picnic park with stairs and a viewing platform is available close by at beautiful Burntcoat Head Park and Interpretation Center, site of the world's highest recorded tides. The highest, ever tide was recorded here in 18--- and reached the astounding height of 64.9 feet! Don't miss the excellent museum located in a restored lighthouse, a great place to learn more about the world's highest tides and local history.

Maitland Village, designated Nova Scotia's first Heritage Conservation District with nearly 50 beautiful 19th century homes is an historic ship building village and the home of the world's largest sailing vessel which is chronicled at the Lawrence House museum. Maitland is also home to Riverview Herbs and its delightful café as well as an excellent fine dining restaurant. There are other local museums such as in Selma and at the lighthouse in Walton.

Guests may wish to experience the thrill of the world’s highest tides, “up close and personal”, by going rafting on the tidal bore with the Shubenacadie River Runners in Maitland. Some of the many other local attractions include a guided fossil and history tour along a local beach (dubbed by even our youngest guests as “awesome”), the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park with its stunning new marshland and bird-viewing walk, Mastodon Ridge Museum, a fossil display and life-size replica of an 89,000 year old mastodon whose bones were found in this area, golf, eco-tourism and good local restaurants (including fine dining). Horseback riding and riding lessons are available at several nearby locations. Sea kayaking, guided expeditions including an eagle tour, and outfitters are also available close by in Maitland. Only 15 minutes away at Walton play golf all day on a links course by the sea, Minas View Links, for $20 Canadian.

There are good country inn/restaurants and family style restaurants in the nearby villages. We particularly recommend the food, the views and the charming ambiance of the Café at Newport Landing and the Sunday Brunch at the Avon Emporium in Sommerville. There are also good restaurants in Windsor, the gateway to the Annapolis Valley, about 45 minutes away. Windsor has other attractions such as the world famous Mermaid Theatre, Haliburton House, a gorgeous restored historic house and home of "Sam Slick", a delightful excursion on the restored Evangeline Express train (phone: 902-798-5667) from Windsor to Wolfville. At Wolfville, enjoy superb fine dining restaurants and the bounty of the valley farms at the many farm markets and on the edge of town Grand Pre and the trail of Evangeline as well as winery tours. Travel a little further along the Annapolis Valley and enjoy the vistas of golf courses, orchards, farms, vineyards as well as winery tours, whale watching, winery tours, and the unique lobster dinners on the wharf at Hall's Harbour.

Nova Scotia is rich in traditional music. In addition to concerts and festivals there are weekly jam sessions along this shore; a very fine one is held on Wednesdays at the Avon Emporium and another at Bramber Village Hall on Thursdays.

All of this is only 1 hour from Halifax with the world's second deepest natural harbour, a cosmopolitan center, with a wide array of restaurants, world class museums and shopping.

Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea are so far from the hustle and bustle of city life and yet they are still close to all that the city has to offer, if you choose.

* No folks this is not a typo or a misprint! In honour of these guests the beach houses that share the property with the (former) Shore Haven house are called Beach Heaven Houses by the Sea.

GUEST COMMENTS

Our guests at Shore Haven have been absolutely overwhelmed by the serenity and beauty of this setting and so far all of them have wanted to stay forever. They also agree that it is almost impossible to capture the beauty of Shore Haven in photographs.

“All of us came home with the most wonderful memories of "the best family vacation yet" (and we've been doing it for more than 15 years!).The house and the scenery were wonderful...We loved the small nearby communities...people were incredibly friendly and helpful. The lighthouses (especially Walton, thanks to Gloria’s information) were so interesting. Adventures on the beach at different tide times was so unusual and fascinating. All of it was so special. And thanks so much for supplying the ping-pong table...we did have quite a tournament where we all participated. The croquet, badminton and the wonderful space for our kite flying added to our enjoyment. Also, we all thoroughly enjoyed both the fossil walk at Rainey Cove and the very spectacular tidal bore rafting experience. Three generations of the C. Family, Texas, California and Massachusetts.

"A lovely week, the beach is literally breath-taking. To be out there at low tide when the sun sets is just magical. The house was so comfortable. Really all you could want for peace and relaxation. Be sure to check out the unbelievable starry nights." (May 2005, PG, Ontario)

“The privacy here is exactly what a “get-a-away” embodies. Here, you can find the rhythm of the soul dance with nature. I cannot recall being so-------at peace.” (GD, Pennsylvannia, USA)

“Shore Haven been the absolutely perfect family vacation, exactly what we were looking
for, none of us wants to leave. The kids are already asking, when can we come back?
They have loved the beach, the swimming, the fields, the freedom, the wildlife such as
deers, eagles, rabbits. We have all loved the peace and the privacy and being in our own
delightful world here so far away from the hustle and bustle. There is really no way to
describe the beauty of the scenery, the water, the roar of the tides, you just have to see
for yourself. I am sure that before long I will have to book several years in advance in
order to stay here. The hosts have thought of everything, the house is also just perfect. We
enjoyed our day trips, such as the fossil tours, going to Lunenburg etc, but could all hardly
wait to get back 'home'.” CA, July 2003.

This family is joining us again in 2005 at what the children call Shore Heaven!!

“Thanks for sharing your paradise with us. Lucky us....we had 7 glorious days of beach-combing up and down the Minas Basin coastline. Every beach was different but the highlights were: Our beach for seashells and the massiveness of the tidal fluctuation, Burntcoat has beautiful flower pots and sandstone and Rainy Cover for fossils. The tidal bore in Truro was amazing for people watching. Having the run of the property for my parent’s 50th Anniversary party, including our puppy, was truly awesome. The only dining out that we did was Sunday Brunch at the Avon Emporium in Summerville, which was GREAT....especially the fresh baked breads and muffins.” The extended B family, Vancouver to Maine, September 2004.

“First, the house is wonderful, everything in for a perfect time-Fantastic view, wonderful tide clock. Very comfortable. Surroundings couldn’t be better-how wonderful to be near and see the water all the time. The tides are magnificent for speed. The geology fascinating. Most funa at lighthouse was Burncoat. Halifax citadel is brilliant and the atmosphere is wonderful for a big city. We’re so glad we took the time to travel all this way way. We love Nova Scotia, thanks for converting us.” R & N, extended family, Wales and Toronto, 2004.

“What a wonderful holiday we have had! The house is so comfortable and the surroundings so beautiful. We’ve been swimming every day, collected too many shells, been entertained by the deer and humming birds, it has been delightfully relaxing. For a little excitement Halifax was a nice day trip. The drive to Lunenburg was well worth it, the town breath-taking and the whale watching was fantastic. The Minas View Golf club, 15 minutes west of here was well equipped too. We’ll treasure our memories of our wonderful holiday here at Shore Haven forever.” The G. family, Ottawa, Ontario, August, 2004.

“We thoroughly enjoyed spending the last few days as a family. Exploring the beach at low tide and contrasting that with high tide is a must. Playing soccer, talking walks and grasshopper hunting is also highly recommended. Day trips to Tiverton/Digby (whale watching), Five Islands, Wolfville, Balancing Rock and Tidal Bore rafting also brought great fun. Gloria and Dan, thank you for the hospitality and all the best to you in the future.” August 2004 TB and family, Michigan.

“What a beautiful place to stay, so relaxing. The house is so well-equipped-the view fantastic. We enjoyed the day trips to Halifax, Grand-Pre winneries, Avon Emporium etc. Thanks for everything. We enjoyed our stay here and the Nova Scotia hospitality. Hope to return one day soon!” October 2004, GB, Edmonton.

“What a wonderful time we had, what a great place. Extremely thoughtfully equipped. Great sunsets, wonderful property.” October 2004, CS, Ontario.

“We very much enjoyed our two weeks at Shore Haven. It is so peaceful and the
view is restorative. I very much appreciated the very well equipped kitchen. We all went
for wonderful long walks on the shore.” MB, Washington, DC.

“Are you sure we have to go—this place is heaven, we are ready to move in and leave the
busy world behind. We didn’t venture far, as the farm and the shore are so wonderful.”
KC, Virginia.

“This has been the perfect holiday for our young families, the children can explore in safety,
the house is wonderful, we will definitely be back.” MN, Toronto.

“Wonderful people, amazing views, gorgeous place, excellent food, peace and tranquility,
what an amazing place and what a spiritual experience. We don’t want to leave, please
just tell all of your guests for the rest of the summer that we are staying on!” JQ, June
2003.
