The view of Lunenburg Bay from Admiralty House

Description:
Admiralty House, located right on the waterfront with a million dollar panoramic view, is in the charming historic village of Lunenburg, with excellent shops and restaurants a few steps away. It has proved to be an ideal vacation and honeymoon spot for so many since we began sharing it for tourist rental in 1999. Since Admiralty House is a duplex consisting of two spacious (1200 square feet) private flats, The Upper Deck and The Captain’s Quarters, we have hosted many happy family reunions by the sea.

All of our guests to date have said that Admiralty House is even more wonderful than our website can portray, the views are glorious; the village is at your fingertips but one still has the privacy of a quiet and spacious (each flat is 1200 square feet) home away from home. We are just in the process of putting up a new website (more text and pictures to follow) but please do have a look at it as well as the guest comments below.

Admiralty House is an ocean-front duplex consisting of two spacious and private fully equipped flats, The Upper Deck and The Captain’s Quarters. Many guests have found that Admiralty House makes an ideal location for gatherings of family and friends (up to 12) as both flats may be rented and the internal connecting door opened so guests may share the whole house.

Welcome to your “Home away from Home” right on the ocean in historic Lunenburg, with each private flat featuring:

THE CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS
Welcome to the Captain's Quarters, the charming and private ground floor flat of Admiralty House, right on the ocean in residential old town Lunenburg. What a delight when we removed the carpeting in The Captain’s Quarters, revealing gorgeous hardwood floors in a log cabin or herring bone pattern. We think you will feel like the captain of a fine ship in this lovely ground floor suite, especially seated in the fabulous glassed in porch on the waterside of the house. This glorious room provides wonderful vistas of the harbour, a perfect vantage point for watching boats, birds, the sunset or just absorbing the beauty of the water. Since this is a private e room, with a very comfortable double futon the captain may choose to bunk down here. Alternately, the spacious master bedroom with a queen sized bed or a very comfortable double pull-out in the living room could be the sleeping quarters of choice. A large eat-in kitchen and a gracious dining room gives lots of scope for enjoying that lobster or other bounty of the sea. Other spots for quiet relaxation are the living room or the old-fashioned verandah with sliding glass panels, adjustable according to the sea breeze or the Jacuzzi-style air whirlpool bathtub in the four piece bathroom.

THE UPPER DECK
Outside on the expansive ocean-side deck, or inside from the lovely picture window in the kitchen; with a cup of coffee at daybreak or a glass of wine at sunset, the bird's eye view of the harbour from the spacious and private Upper Deck is spectacular. A "room with a million dollar view", the eat-in kitchen is a terrific space for cooking and sharing food and fun and includes six full-sized appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher). The living room, with comfortable contemporary furnishings as well as antiques, cable TV/ DVD, and telephone offers quiet relaxation, or for those with work to do, an adjoining alcove provides a desk. With three bedrooms (queen, and two doubles) there is also plenty of space for private R&R. Chose the seaside bedroom with antique sleigh bed (double) and ocean views, the master bedroom with queen bed or the middle bedroom with a double bed. Enjoy the luxury of an air whirl pool massage in the four piece bathroom (which also has an ocean view).

Here are some guest comments about Admiralty House:

“I came with my parents and my daughter. We had the time of our lives just enjoying the
simple things. We were impressed by the unique architecture and enjoyed walking along
the streets and the docks. Love the location of this house, its many amenities, and specially
the sun porch….a wonderful place to sleep and to watch the endless dock activities.” DP,
Colorado.

"What a wonderful week we have had here in Lunenburg. We are SO glad we chose this
fishing village and Admiralty House!!! The view exceeded our expectations and the
accommodations were excellent." PTH, New Jersey.

"Looking out over the harbour was the best way to start and end each day. The sights and
sounds of every day life, along with the many local birds framed each day perfectly." TM
Ottawa.

"We have had two glorious weeks in Lunenburg and at Admiralty House. Our hosts are
amongst the finest people we have met in our many travels. This is our second trip to Nova
Scotia, and we want to thank the people of Canada for their kindness, friendship and
hospitality." JM, New Mexico

"For two low impact tourists we enjoyed ourselves to the point of taxation. Lunenburg is a
walker, gawker delight. Dining is fabulous, its quiet and historic architecture is eye candy."
FS, Stirling, Ontario.

Lunenburg Nova Scotia is a delightful fishing village of about 2,500 that provides the perfect setting for an oceanside vacation. It's designated a UNESCO world heritage site, and is the home port of the famous Bluenose. It provides many interesting sites and walks, such as the remarkable architecture of restored homes, the fascinating Fisherman's museum, sailing excursions, and whale-watch and carriage tours. Additionally, there are excellent restaurants and an interesting variety of shops. There are municipal tennis courts and a swimming pool.

For your convenience, there is a complete grocery store a few hundred yards away. And the delivery boys will cheerfully bring your groceries (including that lobster!) right to the kitchen -- free of charge.

Lovely sand beaches are just five to ten minutes away. Lunenburg is a perfect location for exploring Nova Scotia, whale watching, ocean swimming, sailing, kayaking, beach combing, historic sites, traditional music, antiques, craft markets, and much more. Halifax is only one hour away, and all the wonders of the south shore villages and beaches are at your doorstep.

This character older home has two quality housekeeping (self-catering), apartment-style suites. (The adjoining inner stairway may be opened so that large family gatherings may use the whole house.) Each suite very comfortably accommodates six people. And each is totally equipped to be your "home away from home".

This oceanside setting features sights and sounds of the sea, magnificent harbour and sunset views, and access to boat mooring. This tranquil location is in residential "Olde Towne" Lunenburg, Nova Scotia -- just minutes from south shore beaches and towns, and one hour from Halifax.

The "Upper Deck" suite features a spectacular bird's eye view of the harbour from outside on the deck or inside through the lovely picture window in the kitchen. Enjoy gazing at this view with a cup of coffee at daybreak or a glass of wine at sunset.

For those with work to do, an adjoining alcove provides a desk. With three bedrooms (one queen, and two doubles) there is plenty of space for private rest and relaxation.

The second suite is the Captain's Quarters suite. We have just removed the carpeting, revealing gorgeous hardwood floors in a log cabin or herring bone pattern. We think you'll feel like the captain of a fine ship in this lovely ground-floor suite, especially when seated in the fabulous glassed-in porch on the water side of the house.
