Finca Higueron is situated on the Costa de la Luz, Spain’s southern Atlantic coast, halfway between Tarifa and Cadiz, midway between the Moorish hilltop town of Vejer de la Frontera and busy beach town of Conil. The six-acre Finca is 190 meters above sea level, which is approached by a meandering road that winds up the slow incline of the hill. Once on the ridge, you are rewarded with spectacular views, East is Vejer, South is Africa and West is El Palmar and the Atlantic Ocean. From October to June the local countryside is a mass of green and rich with crops, whereas other months, when there is little or no rain, the fields become brown, but, the large forest areas prevent the views from looking barren. It is an ideal location for exploring the many beautiful, sandy beaches, natural parks, the splattering of Moorish towns and the cities of western Andalusia as well as sampling the delights of the local tapas, wines and fine Sherries. Email us for much more information and web links. Many years ago El Almendro was the house of the owners and is built of local rock and has been rendered on the inside and out. Keeping the original curved walls, the cottage retains its original character and charm. Having only one bedroom the rooms are large and spacious; for further comfort all windows have night blinds. Following the curved wall, the bedroom with twin beds is large and spacious. There are walled mounted reading-lights and a central light and fan. The large bathroom has a washbasin, toilet and bidet and a 1.2m square shower. A wide central hallway separates all the rooms, providing privacy between the bedroom and lounge where extra sleeping for two is provided by a large sofa bed. The living area consists of a large lounge-dining room with lounge seating and dining seating for four. There is a TV, DVD and music center with wall-mount speakers. The galley kitchen is comprehensively furnished to satisfy all cooking requirements. The double patio doors open to the outside, with views to the Atlantic and the setting sun and the own private patio. The cottage has its own patio table, chairs and sun loungers, barbecue and a personal mini pool that has integral seating (2 meters by 2 meters by 0.75 meters deep), which can be used from April to October. Typical Client Feedback We had a fantastic time at Finca Higueron. It normally takes me at least a week to wind down, but here I was relaxed instantly. The welcome is warm, the accommodation spotless and fully appointed. The surrounding area is un-spoilt and ripe for exploration. Beaches and local restaurants are truly excellent. You never tire of the views from Finca Higueron and watching the sunset whilst sipping a glass of wine is one of life's real pleasure Dave and Jo After years of holidaying we have finally found paradise. This place has it all and you can do as much or as little as you please The views from the beautiful cottages are absolutely breathtaking and go a long way to help you relax and unwind. You can sit on the patio in the evening and see some spectacular sunsets, it is such a romantic place. But there is also lots to do just ask Tad and Val who are very special hosts and have expert local knowledge and I'm sure like us you will have a perfect holiday. Paul and Janice (visiting for the 8th time) We wish to thank you for helping to make our holiday most pleasurable. Not only was the cottage the best self catering accommodation we have ever experienced, the whole package you offer is 2nd to none. The 'personal touch' made our anniversary unforgettable. The afternoon at Montenmedio and then the evening at Vento Rufino were highlights, but just being at Finca Higueron 'did it for us!' Alan and Diane Finca Higueron is 3KM from the center of La Muela, where there is a very popular, inexpensive Italian restaurant and Venta Rufino’s provides excellent, low priced food in a local friendly atmosphere. In season fresh homegrown vegetables are available to our guests, who wish to ‘eat in’. There is also a broad selection of videos and DVD’s available for in house entertainment; in addition we operate a very popular book swap service. The large garden area is quiet and surrounded by common land that can be explored. As the Finca is on the flight path for birds migrating from Donona Park and Africa, it is ideal for bird watching. There are many different walks nearby and we have mountain bikes, with safety helmets for those who like to explore. For golfers we have full sets of clubs and golf trolleys for hire. There is something to do for everyone in the Costa de la Luz. You can go to a different, sandy beach every day of you holiday. Near to Finca Higueron are historic sites, including the 16 acres of Roman ruins fronting the beach at Bolonia; the little know Palomo Cortija, where pigeons were bred for the Spanish galleons; an old grain water mill that is still worked by local villagers. For nature lovers, there is dolphin and whale watching off Tarifa, or take a trip to one of Europe’s largest wild life parks at Donona or a local bird watching expedition. Locally there are many sporting activities, including four golf courses within a 1/2-hour and eight within an hour’s drive; there is horse riding, scuba diving, surfing, wind surfing, para surfing and also hang gliding from Vejer. Less than an hour away a large aqua-park is open in the summer. Also, through the summer months each town takes it in turn to have a fair and some towns, including Vejer, have a bull run through the streets.
