World class white sand beach, all but desserted, just a 2 minute stroll down our private lane
|
|
Beach Haven, Nova Scotia is an amazing oceanside executive level vacation rental home. With six-plus acres to explore, the property offers a wide range of opportunities, from relaxing on the deck with a book to more active pursuits such as ocean swimming and beachcombing. It's a dream location for photographers and other artists. An organic vegetable and herb garden, a lily pond, flower beds, and close-cropped lawns are close to the house. Groomed paths lead to the saltwater pond and your own private sand and pebble beach, offering endless opportunities for swimming, beachcombing, exploring the rocks and tidal pools, beach campfires, bird spotting (e.g. eagles, cormorants, osprey, sea ducks, and piping plovers) and animal watching (e.g. seals, foxes, rabbits, and raccoons). An all-but-deserted world class white sand beach is a two-minute stroll down our private lane.
Beach Haven House is a peaceful retreat far from the rush of urban life, yet close to the amenities of the big city.
The home is a scenic and easy, 15-minute drive from the excellent restaurants, museums, and shops of the charming village of Liverpool -- home of the privateers and the world-famous photographer, Sherman Hines. Two large full service grocery stores are in Liverpool. And daily grocery needs can be found even closer, in village shops.
The beaches and villages of the south shore, including Lunenburg, a UNESCO world heritage site, are just moments away. Experience a step back in time with the warm hospitality, unique shops (antiques, artisans, crafts, farm markets, quilts and hand hooked rugs, reserves, quality new-to-you clothing), fishing wharves, restaurants (from down-home to gourmet dining), historic churches and museums of seaside villages such as Port Medway, Lockeport, Mahone Bay, and Mill Village.
Halifax, with the world's second deepest natural harbour, is approximately 1.5 hours away. This city is a cosmopolitain center with a wide array of restaurants, world-class museums, and shopping.
Other nearby activities include angling, seaside and woodland hiking (e.g in the renowned Kejimikujik National Park), sailing, kayaking, whale-watching, deep-sea fishing, diving, bicycling, golf, visiting the superb restored historic houses and shops in Shelbourne, and attending excellent theatre and musical productions, including fiddling and other traditional music.
This quality home is the perfect place for a vacation get away, a working holiday, or a family reunion.
A stay at Beach Haven House is so much more than a vacation. It affords the opportunity for the experience of a lifetime. Relaxation awaits in the peaceful ambiance of this private six-acre, oceanside retreat on a peninsula in the Atlantic Ocean.
Absorb the beauty of the sights, sounds, and smells of the sea from our own sand and pebble beach. Or amble down our lane, and be at a world-class, white sand beach in just two minutes.
Outdoors and in the spacious sun room, you'll enjoy absolutely amazing 270-degree views of the open ocean, the waves breaking on the reef, Frying Pan Island with its scenic lighthouse, and the birds, seals, and other wildlife that abound. Our own saltwater pond provides a perfect spot for safe adventures for children, such as learning to kayak.
A glorious pine cathedral ceiling crowns the open-concept living room, dining room, and kitchen. The comfortable furnishings and ocean views invite relaxation.
The main floor of Beach Haven (1400 square feet) features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious glassed-in sun porch, an oceanview deck with outdoor furniture, a woodstove fireplace, and a master bedroom with a three-piece ensuite bath.
The kitchen comes with six full-size appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, fridge, stove, microwave), as well as quality kitchenware. The comfortable beds include two queen-size beds, three singles, and one double bed. Amenities include excellent linens, pool table, satellite TV, a VCR, phone/fax, stereo, quality furnishings, books and games, a picnic table, and a gas barbecue.
For guests with groups larger than four or who would like more space the glorious lower level of Beach Haven is also available. This wonderful, bright extra space is about 800 square feet, and includes a recreation room, a fourth bedroom and a third bathroom.
Beach Haven was the summer home of a Swiss gentleman for 14 years and has an interesting 'architectural' history. The main level was built as a complete house (with the three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, open concept living room, dining room and kitchen all with a pine cathedral ceiling). He then had the whole house raised and put in a complete downstairs, so the 'lower level' is much higher and brighter then a conventional basement, it is about 2.5 feet below grade. Since he is Swiss he did this just like a Swiss house, there is no connecting stairway (inside) between the main level and the lower level. One goes in to the lower level directly from the outside. It is beautifully finished with hardwood floors and pine walls. One of the main features of interest in the recreation room is the regulation Brunswick slate pool table. The bedroom is bright and spacious and has twin beds. There is also a very large three piece bath with a shower.
