The New and Affordable Swallow Guesthouse
After intensive renovations, the Swallow Guesthouse now has room for 6 people and offers two separate suites, the original “Sunrise Suite” and the new larger two bedroom “Sunset Suite” suitable for families, writer's, artists, biking or treking groups or people who want a longer term place to create and relax in the peace and quiet of Bali. Both are fully furnished with separate western style bathrooms with hot showers. Internet is available through a phone satellite called Flexi – unlimited usage week rates.
Guests can relax while watching the surrounding daily life in the rice fields and mountain views from various lounging areas and patios. One of these lookouts is the tall Gazebo or “Bale” in Balinese. It sits above the shared separated exterior kitchen which is fully equipped with cooking facilities but we recommend you to taste our traditional meals offered twice daily. Another is the Lotus Pond terrace – a perfect area to read at night and watch the fireflies.
The Swallow Guesthouse is designed with Balinese tradition in mind. All the building, wood carving and furnishings are made by hand by local craftsmen. Guests can feel the warmth and passion that has been given to make this dream home come true.
Your Guest Service hosts Wayan and Putri, truly enjoy sharing their unique culture and are eager to answer any questions. Don’t be surprised if they dress you up in the traditional clothing and whisk you off to a temple ceremony or family feast. It’s their pleasure to make your stay comfortable and stress-free.
Wayan, a 15 year experienced English speaking tour guide and driver, can accommodate your needs and questions. If you desire assistance in an island tour for pleasure or business, he can help you arrange the details. Putri, his wife, is our Indonesian cook. She creates very delicious dishes using fresh garden vegetables and local produce. Reasonable prices for meals are offered. If you want some lessons, don't hesitate to ask in exchange for some English practice.
Our location is 20 minutes NE by motorbike from Ubud in Pesalakan Pejeng. There is a short walking or bike path that leads away from the main road. Guests enjoy as it’s extremely peaceful and quiet. The short walk brings you alongside the rice and water dyke allowing you to leave all your stresses behind. If you do rent a motorbike, you can ride your bike down the short path to the Swallowhouse.
Sunu's Pension down the road also has rental opportunity and a pool that Swallow Guests can use for a minimum fee when unoccupied. If you would like details of this rental please click onto the website link or email us.
There is a small village market and several local temples where you can meet the locals and enjoy their countless smiles. As a Hindu race, people are very giving and non-threatening to heighten their karma. They love showing you their culture and sharing the ongoing ceremonies.
Minimum rental is one week and monthly discounted rates are available. A deposit of $50US for weekly rentals and $120 for monthly rentals is required to hold your booking. Don’t worry, we are still affordable for the budget travelers!
