Imagine spending your vacation in a charming new cottage with such wonderful views of the water and sky it’s like living in a watercolor. Welcome to the Goddess Cottage, nestled on a hill in the midst of an 18-acre peninsula with a half-mile of private waterfront and spectacular views of Breen's Pond and St. George's Bay beyond. The exterior is charming with shingled siding, a metal cantilevered roof, skylight, a big 16x20 deck, and a bonus hot/cold outdoor shower. The interior is cheerful and cozy with a rustic birch four-poster bed (bark and branches included!), the "idyllic island" blue floor, beadboard paneling, open trusses, a Nova Scotia stone hearth and a glass-front woodburning stove so you can enjoy watching the fire. Sink into the micro-fiber sectional couch and watch the lobster boats on June mornings or the amazing variety of birds that make Breen's Pond their home -- arctic tern, kingfisher, marsh hawk, bald eagle, and many more. At mealtimes, relax at the unique round terra-cotta leather table. And at night, lie in bed and look at the fire, the Cape George lighthouse in the distance, and the stars through the skylight. If you love the outdoors, you can walk the trails in the woods, stroll down the path to Breen’s Pond to swim or paddle a canoe around the island where bald eagles nest, or walk the country road along Cape Jack -- which looks like a Wyeth painting with its traditional farmhouses and barns -- to swim or hike along Cape Jack Beach. And if you love Celtic culture and music -- or Acadian culture -- you're only ten minutes from Cape Breton with its famed Cabot Trail, and twenty minutes from the new Celtic Music Interpretive Center (in Judique) with live music and ceilidhs on Sundays and frequent concerts with Celtic musicians like Buddy McMaster and sometimes even his world-famous neice, Natalie McMaster. The Goddess Cottage is a perfect, peaceful retreat/getaway. Inside or out, the overall effect is simplicity and serenity -- and stunning views.
