The neighbouring village of San Marco with its picturesque harbour can be reached in a short drive whilst the medieval village of Castellabate on the hill top a UNESCO heritage site with its cobbled streets and stunning views boasts Napoleon Bonaparte and Leon Cavallo as past guests. There are also numerous restaurants in the area where one can enjoy genuine cooking where fresh fish , home made pastas and local wine form part of the menu. Excursions There are a wide selection of excursions available - the historic sites of Paestum 20 min drive and Pompeii 1 hr drive offering cultural insight into the historic past of the area, the Amalfi coast with its rugged cliffs and coastline with the villages of Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and Sorrento, not to mention a boat trip to the island of Capri. There are also a variety of grottoes and caves that provide a fascinating alternative as well as simply exploring the local area and discovering villages dotted about the hillside where time has stood still and tourists are few and far between.
