Cottage - Kennisis Lake Haliburton - Cottage Rental Listing Details

There are TWO beautiful cottages available at this location - a point lot and a lot with it's very own island.

These charming cottages are nestled among the pines along the shores of Kennesis Lake, Haliburton. There is a large south-facing deck at the front of the cottage (with a picnic table) which looks out to the lake and to the cottage’s island dock. There’s a short bridge walkway which leads to a small island and dock. The square dock, which accommodates 4 chairs, sits on a bed of Canadian Shield rock. The dock receives full sun from morning to late afternoon The clean, clear water is between 4 and 8 feet deep (with the odd large rock to provide a fun launching pad for kids’ dives). Families of ducks swim by the bridge daily in the hopes of a snack. Behind the cottage is untouched pine woods typical of the region, with a small grassy area for kids to play in.

Inside the Cottage
The cottage is new and very stylish. There is an open concept kitchen, living and eating area, which is bordered on one side by an entire wall of window looking out to the deck and lake. The view is breathtaking. There are 3 bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with a bunk bed. The dining room table comfortably seats 6-8. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils, including a coffee machine The bathroom has a tub so you can have a bath or shower. There’s also a TV and video machine.

Kid Friendly?
The cottage is a dream come true for kids. They can run and play hide & seek all around the cottage without the fear of traffic (which is way off, you can’t even hear traffic). There’s a treehouse, and on the other side of Penny and Keith’s cottage, a shallow beach with sandy bottom, appropriate for little kids. Kids will love climbing the rocks, hunting for pine cones, and swimming, swimming, swimming.

There’s a boat and canoe at your disposal. As well, you can rent a motor from the nearby marina to use on the aluminum boat. For big kids, the hilly paved road enroute to the cottage makes for some challenging running or biking. You can also mountain bike through Haliburton Forest. About ½ km from the dock is an island which has a great platform from which to jump into the lake (there’s also smaller rocks for kids to spring from). The Wolf Centre is not far down the road, and about 15 minutes drive is the dump…recommended for bear spottings.

Shopping
The beauty of the cottage is that it is very tranquil and private. Of course that means that you can’t walk to the local store. The nearest grocery store, which is well equipped (including an LCBO) is about 25 minutes away in West Guildford. Haliburton and Minden (40 minutes) offer more selection.
