Charming Home with Boat Dock & Lift!
|
|
Tired of staying in hotels? You'll enjoy staying in this charming home which has been recently renovated and is located on a canal with quick access to the Gulf of Mexico. You may rent just the upstairs, just the mother-in-law suite, or the entire house. All bedrooms & living areas have TVs.
Upstairs has hardwood floors, a kitchen, living room, dining area, office area (we do not have internet or phone in the house), two bedrooms (queen bed & new pillow-top twin beds)and two baths, queen sleeper-sofa, and two screened lanais (with a BBQ grill).
The ground floor has a mother-in-law suite which offers a bedroom (queen bed), bathroom, kitchen, living room & screened lanai with BBQ grill.
Laundry facilities are on the lower level. There's also a storage room on the lower level for fishing/sporting equipment.
No smoking in the home, please. There are three screened lanais on which to smoke.
Everglades City is the place to be if you're a nature lover or into fishing-- pelicans, dolphin, manatee, alligators, all kinds of bird life, and tarpon, trout, grouper, snook & much more. It's an actual working fishing town. From October thru May, most of the Stone Crab claws come in on the commercial fishing boats in Everglades City.
The City offers many restaurants, such as the historic Rod & Gun Club (opened in 1864); Seafood Depot (the old train station); Scoop Ice Cream Shop (great noon sandwiches & delicious potato salad/cole slaw-- home made); Camellia Street Grill (fabulous food & live country entertainment Fri & Sat nights during season); City Seafood, Triad Seafood, and many more.
It also has a grocery store (at night the owner makes hand-tossed gourmet pizza for take- out-- absolutely delicious), old-time hardware store (used to be the "company store" years ago), two convenience stores with fuel & a Subway shop; a City Hall, a library (which offers internet service located in City Hall), and a museum.
Everglades City is an hour and a half from the Ft. Myers Airport; 45 minutes from Naples (great shopping & dining), and 40 minutes from Marco Island (3.5 miles of powdered sugar white sand beach). Both Marco Island & Naples have beaches. Although, if you go by boat from Everglades City, there are numerous beaches on various unoccupied islands (i.e. Picnic key, complete with an outhouse).
We also have a small airport.

RENTER COMMENTS:
From Tom & Pam Coleman of Georgia: 10/08 Everyone thoroughly enjoyed our week fishing. The house was very nice and the convenience of walking out the back door and getting in the boats was very convenient. My Uncle and my cousins all said that was the best week of our annual fishing trips yet. We are all meeting Thanksgiving to decide about next years dates.
From Calvin & Karen Close of Palatka, FL: 11/08 We truly enjoyed our visit to your A-frame! It was so nice to have the boat in the water & ready to go. It was also a major bonus to be able to bring our dog. You had everything we needed as far as supplies:linens, towels & dishes etc. I really liked having the washer & dryer since we fished every day and it was nice to run a load of laundry every few days without having to find a laundry mat and a boat load of quarters~LOL! The bed in the alcove was very comfortable and so was the futon. We have previously stayed in one of those park model trailers. This place had much more room to spread out in after fishing-we were not all cramped. The bathroom was really a nice size and we liked the walk in shower. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch in the evening being able to watch the water without the swamp angels toting us away. Thanks again so much! (This couple stayed in the mother-in-law suite).
From Bev White, Gainesville, FL: 12/08 Our holiday trip to the Everglades was glorious with great weather, great birds and superb accomodations. A true home away from home with the best equipped kitchen we've experienced in all of our travels. Plus we were at arm's length to great attractions - 10 minutes from a sunset ride at the National Park, great fishing off the dock (we landed a 5lb catfish ... well maybe it was 3), and easy access to restaurants, kayaking and bike rides. We will certainly recommend this comfortable cottage to friends who are coming to experience the Everglades.
