Illiolousti Thea (sun-bathed view) occupies an elevated position above Skiathos town just ten minutes away by car.It has it's own secluded patio facing south and east. Each bedroom has it's own roofed balcony with outside furniture. Air conditioning is provided in both bedrooms and also downstairs in the salon where there are two luxury sofas, one converting to a double bed. There is a bathroom on each floor. The kitchen is fitted out with traditional furniture and includes a large fridge/freezer, washing machine, cooker and kettle. Outside the views are panoramic towards Skopelos and then Alonissos islands. It is a rural position surrounded by olive trees and close to the Evangelistria monastery, although not in sight. Access by car is good and no flights of steps are involved. It has been described as a very tranquil site with wonderful sunrises to greet you each morning.Tavernas:Skiathos is very cosmopolitan, every kind of cuisine is available somewhere on the island from Traditional Greek to Chinese or Indian and plenty of tavernas have children's menus. Most of the beaches also have this facility so your choice could be a romantic sunset meal with the gental lapping of the Agean waves near your table or the magnificent view high over the town from Tavern Platanos. Entertainment:Boat trips will spoil you for choice: *Go round the island, stopping at the pure white beach of Lalaria, then the historic hill-top site of the the old town at Kastro. You then cruise down the pine-forested N/W coast stopping at one of the sandy unspoilt beaches for a leisurely meal. Continuing the circumnavigation takes you round the western tip where all the dramatic sunsets are and along the busier south coast with all it's water-sports, finally arriving back in Skiathos Town. * OR, take just the sunset cruise, watching it go down over Evia before eating ashore by candle-light with Greek music. * Going further afield for the day could take you round to the next island of Skopelos where you can have a guided tour of the town for an hour or so before sailing on to quiet and very rural Alonissos Island. Here 'a must' is a taxi up to the Old Town still being re-built after an earthquake (long ago!). Views from here must be the most photographed in the Sporodes Islands. This is usually a very well 'paced' day with stops of just the right length. Back in Skiathos Town there is also plenty to do. Explore the many narrow side streets and pathways, stop for a while as you glimpse the shimmering Agean between traditional homes decked with Bouganvillia and Geraniums. Have an iced-coffee and rest your feet at the end of the Bourtzi an 'almost-island' set between the two harbours - see the photograph taken from our flight. Or go and find a comfortable 'lounge' seat at one of the harbourside tavernas where, in true Greek style, you need not 'move-on' until you want to. Here you will see the water-taxis that will take you to a number of the beaches. They run mostly every half-hour. Later in the evening there are taveras with music, music bars with cushions and fairy lights and fish resturants with views over the old harbour with it's 'dancing' fishing boats ---- it's simply magic!
