“Les Escures” is a recently converted barn with beautiful stone walls and wooden beams. Set in over 2 acres with breathtaking views over the Correze river valley it offers a wonderful holiday location for all the family. The picturesque cottage lays on the edge of the medieval hilltop village of Aubazine and is just a five minute walk from the village square. There is a boulangerie, boucherie, pharmacie, post office, quaint village store, and four restaurants, bars, tabac and a four hundred year old hotel and restaurant. Aubazine, a well documented village centered on its famous Cistercian monastery dating back to the twelfth century, holds a number of fetes in July, August and September and there are a number of musical concerts held in the monastery.About a 15 minute drive from Aubazine is an outdoor leisure complex with a lake, beach and restaurant. The complex offers horse riding, cycling and hiking. There is also the magnificent parkland 27 hole GOLF DU COIROUX The course is set in 175 hectare with a 25-hectare lake and is one of the best courses in France. LOCATION Aubazine is located in the south west of the Correze and close to the borders of both the Lot and Dordogne. It lies on the rising hills that form the western edge of the Massif Central. It is a 20-minute drive from Brive-La-Gaillarde known as the Paris of the South due to its elegant shops and wonderful covered Saturday market. Other places of particular interest include the famous Beaux Villages de France Curemonte, Cerennac, Collonges La Rouge with its unique carmine sandstone architecture; the crescent –shaped medieval town of Turenne and Martel with its seven towers and magnificent market medieval square. The proximity of the intersection of the north south toll free A20 autoroute and the new west-east A89 makes “Les Escures” the perfect base from which to explore the endless attractions to be found in our region. To the northwest lies la route Richard Coeur de Lion with Segur Le Chateau and Pompadour. The route to Perigueux takes you past Hautefort and Brantome. To the south and southwest lie Rocamadour and Sarlat and the Dordogne Valley villages of Domme, La Roque Gageac and Beynac. To the east id the Auverne National Park, the Gorges de la Cere and the mysterious Tours de Merle. Add to this the world famous caves at Lascaux and Padirac you literally have far too much to do and see in one visit. Accommodation The cottage is on three levels. The first reception room is used as a sitting room with TV, DVD and VCR. There are steps down to a large kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is fully fitted with integral cooker and hob and is well equipped with a microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. French doors from the kitchen open outside onto a covered dining terrace with BBQ overlooking the grounds. Adjacent to the kitchen is a bathroom with large walk-in shower, basin and WC. There is also a separate laundry/storage room. A small hallway opens from the sitting room to two double bedrooms, one with a double bed and the second with twin beds. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. A second bathroom is situated between the two bedrooms with bath and WC. Upstairs there is a second lounge with a wood-burning stove. Opposite is the master bedroom with double bed, fitted wardrobe and French doors opening to a private balcony. Outside Next to the house is the large 40 ft x 20 ft swimming pool fully alarmed in accordance with the new French regulations. A terrace with sun-beds and umbrellas surrounds the pool. The views can only be described as stunning across the Correze valley and beyond. There is ample parking for several cars.
