Recently completed in 2005 and set in-front of the villa is a 12m x 6m luxury swimming pool and jacuzzi, diving board and outside solar heated shower. Puglia, or Apullia as it is sometimes known, is the heel of Italy's boot and is bordered by two seas, the Adriatic to the East and the Ionian to the South. Italy's deep south is little known to foreign visitors but those that do visit are regarded with an unforgettable experience. Uplifting natural beauty and a near tropical sea combine with the strange conical-roofed stone houses, the Trulli, unique to Puglia. The region is a food and wine-lover's paradise, no matter how hard you try, it is difficult to eat badly. A proportion of Italy's fish is caught off the Puglian coast and locally grown fruit and vegetables can be found on many a street corner. In addition Puglia has 23 D.O.C. wine regions, the best know being Salice Salentino.

Puglia is something authentic and extremely Italian. It is a land of an unbelievable variety of colours. Here you will find rich red earth, tall dark green pine forests, silvery green olive groves and bright green scattered vineyards; glowing white towns, grey natural Baroque churches and ancient castles and buildings.

The average daytime temperatures in July/August are about 32 degrees and a little less in June and September.
With two seas around three sides of the area, the air does not feel too oppressive during the summer months.
With sunshine for most of the year and olive groves which stretch along a beautiful coastline, it boasts one of the cleanest seas in Europe. Italians have long made it their favoured holiday destination and now with more cheap flights from the U.K. it is rapidly becoming a hot destination for gourmet travellers who are looking for something different to the more well known holiday destinations. Visit oil and wine making Fattorias , see beautiful Greco-Roman cities and mysterious ancient Trulli. Enjoy wonderful local cuisine and rich strong wines which are becoming known throughout Europe.

The stunning town of Ostuni sits like a white beacon on three hills east of Martina Franca. The seemingly disordered tangle of narrow cobblestone streets recalls a north African Arab medina, an ideal place to get agreeably lost. There are a plethora of restaurants and bars just off the Piazza della Liberta, heading upwards towards the sombre brown stone of the 15th century Gothic Cathedral.

Puglia has the unique Trulli, which can be found in abundance in Alberebello. This rural architecture has made the town of Alberobello a UNESCO World Heritage site. Alberobello is at the heart of Trulli land, with over a thousand of these stone cone-roofed buildings in the famous Valle d'Itria.

Around Alberobello the local landscape is of vineyards and olive groves, dry-stone walled fields are characteristic of Alberobello and with its surrounding forests it was given its name, the beautiful tree.

Cisternino - situated in the land of the trulli which is visited every year by many tourists. Cisternino offers a sun-drenched charm and stands on a small hill from where the eye sweeps over both Locorotondo and the Itria valley dotted with white trulli standing amid the green trees and cultivated fields. Cisternino has been awarded the accolade of being one of fifteen of Italy’s most beautiful old towns. Cisternino has something of a reputation as a town of gastronomy with no shortage of restaurants and trattorias, which set their tables out in the narrow whitewashed streets and piazzas. You can stroll in the evening where you will find charming restaurants almost hidden in the pretty narrow walkways.

Ceglie Messapica - a small messapian town with its old town consisting of white little terraced houses and staircases winding into narrow rolling streets. Places to visit: Square Norman-Swabian tower, Church of St. Nicholas with an important sculture of the Madonna and Child, Madonna d'Ibernia Sanctuary.

Villa Gemelli is located near to many beaches, some with bars and facilities, others with nothing but warm sea and sand. It is important to understand that this side of Italy’s coast line offers, small coves and bays rather than long stretches of beach.

Details of local best beaches will be listed in an information pack inside the villa. There are over 400 miles of glorious coastline in Puglia and according to a popular Italian magazine, the beaches near Ostuni are some of the cleanest in Europe.
