Sea Gate, welcome you upon entering the driveway, which provides private parking, the first view to captivate your attention will be the gorgeous, tropical bouganvillia bushes growing up the front of the villa by the pool. These beautiful flowers, with their eye-popping colors, enhances the cheerful poolside atmosphere which boasts a large 21' x 21' square foot swimming pool. The spacious poolside area offers plenty of outdoor seating for the whole family, an outdoor table and hammock underneath a shady palapa, and outdoor speakers in which to enjoy your favorite music. Only a few feet away from the pool is the charcoal grill and outdoor fryer which will satisfy any outdoor cooking enthusiast. If you would prefer to relax and have the catch of the day prepared for you in your very own villa, this can be arranged as well. Gregorio, the caretaker, is also a phenomenal cook and is there to offer his service twice daily, for breakfasts and dinners, while his lovely wife, Margarita, assists him in serving the meals.
From the pool, step into the cozy, combined living and dining room areas with views of the Caribbean Ocean. This magical view entices you to step through the sliding glass doors off of Sea Gate's living area and take pleasure in the incredible sight and sound of the waves crashing on the rocks and the warm smell of the sea breezes. Only a few feet away, closer towards the ocean, is an ample-sized pergola perfect for napping in hammocks while relaxing to the sounds of the sea.
Returning through the sliding glass doors and to the left of the dining area is the spacious, fully equipped kitchen complete with a dishwasher, a breakfast bar with four chairs, an internet connection, fax machine and printer. A large safe for storing valuables is located in the oversized pantry and a half bath is conveniently situated near the door which offers the easiest access to the pool. Adjacent to the kitchen is the comfortable, air conditioned TV room with ocean views, Satellite TV with DVD player and a selection of movies as well as a stereo system with a selection of CDs.
On the far end of the living room is the downstairs guest bedroom which offers a king size bed, gorgeous sea views with its own patio and an en suite bath with stand up shower. The unique stairway off of the living area leads to the three upstairs bedrooms. The first bedroom is the chidren's room which has two double beds and a single bed. It also has its own bathroom and is perfect for the children with a large shower tub, skylights and playful wall decorations.
To enter the other two bedrooms, step outside onto the lovely outdoor terrace with pool and jungle views. This is the perfect spot for relaxing in the comfortable patio chairs or on the built-in couch while gazing out at the magical sunsets over the lush, green jungle. From here, the first bedroom is the expansive master bedroom which boasts a stunning brick-domed ceiling, a king size bed, a reading sofa, a large balcony with hammocks and extraordinary sea views, surround sound speakers and a huge full bath with stand up shower. The other bedroom located off of the outdoor terrace offers a king size bed, a roomy balcony with unforgettable ocean views and its own en suite bath with skylights and a stand up shower. All four spacious bedrooms feature air conditioning, ceiling fans, as well as their own balconies with superb Caribbean views.
Last but certainly not least, the upstairs staircase off of the outdoor terrace leads to the third level rooftop observatory with built-in seating, a perfect place to watch the breathtaking sunrises over the sparkling turquoise waters! From here the views are second-to-none. Enjoy a 360 degree view of the vast, blue Caribbean to the east, Akumal Bay the south, Half Moon Bay to the north and the lush, green jungle to the west.

Unforgettable and relaxing
Monica S. from Acton, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 9 days in June, 2016 We had 4 couples in our group. Each couple spoiled with their own bathroom. We want to stay here again next time for sure!! Thank you!
Barbara S. from Billings, MT recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2016 We loved the Villa, and the caretakers Gregorio and Margarite. It was perfect for us as there were three couples and we wanted our own space, views and bathrooms. It was the perfect location to walk to Akumal Bay and the town of Akumal. We would definitely go back. Truly our only complaint was that the beds were hard, but it wouldn't stop us from going again. We felt safe, and had one of the best vacations ever.
Louise L. from Chicago, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 17 days in December, 2014 Lack of advertised dishwasher was an on-going problem that influenced our entire stay. We have 3 kids (4/7/9) who snack constantly and there were always dirty dishes in the kitchen. The caretaker tried to compensate by washing dishes once a day . . . which meant he or a substitute was in the kitchen for an extended period in the AM.The broken hot water heater caused problems for 1st few days but was promptly replaced when manager Roger heard about it. Freezer also was broken; Roger had to get repairmen there several days in a row. I wonder if appliances are checked regularly? It's no fun dealing with somebody else's poorly maintained appliances while on vacation!
Charles and Robbie D. from Georgetown,, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2014 Property was very well maintained clean and absolutely beautiful. Everything was as described and better. (the only downside was a few ants that would show up at night) Roger (property manager) was very courteous and helpful. Gregorio and Margarita are truly the heart and soul of the house. They are some of the nicest/helpful people you could meet. The meals cooked were absolutely wonderful. We brought my 78 year old mother and we all had a really great time. We would recommend this property to others, but only a few, as we want to keep our little Akumal secret! This rental is unequivocally the best we've ever experienced. We hope to return shortly, so Keep up the good work! Thanks !!!!
A guest from St. Louis,, MO recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in April, 2014 Can't beat the location in North Akumal. This was our second stay in Akumal. other villa we stayed at last year was located at the far end. very comfortable villa for the 3 families that were there. pool is a great size for kids to play in. A little problem with ants in kitchen, but Gregorio then sprayed and it helped a bit. Gregorio and wife Margarita are excellent cooks!
Stephanie H. from Decorah, IA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2014 Our stay was a family trip with our three sons, ages 12, 16 and 18. This home gave everyone enough room to have privacy, but also engaged us in quality family time. We enjoyed the swimming pool, the beach front oasis and the media room. It's an easy walk to both Akumal Beach and Half Moon Bay. We would recommend snorkeling and swimming at Akumal, coctails at the serene Half Moon Bay. The location of the villa was quaint enough not to feel too touristy, but convenient for travel outside the Akumal Playa/Pueblo area, too.Dining favorites outside the home included Turtle Bay Cafe, La Buena Vida and Tequilaville; but for the same price, enjoy the bounty of Gregario's cooking! Don't miss out on his heuvos rancheros for breakfast or his tortilla soup in the evening! He and Margarita are lovely and we relish the conversations and laughter we shared with them during our stay. They were incredibly accommodating and Sea Gate was always clean. Pedro, the security man, keeps watch from 6pm to 6am everyday, making the stay safe. And Roger stopped by the house to make sure all was well with our stay.Aside from the home, we took advantage of visiting the Tulum ruins; what a beautiful and engaging history lesson! Go early-before the bus tours and heat get unbearable. We also bought a snorkeling trip in conjunction with the entrance tickets at the Ruins. Although the excursion seemed a bit sketchy upon arrival at Playa Maya, it was great. We stayed all afternoon, as Playa Maya was by far the most beautiful beach we visited! We also enjoyed at day at Xplor Park. If you're looking for a some adventure, the zip lines and amphibious vehicles are sure to please. It's very shaded and most "rides" include water; wear secure water shoes and take something dry to change into after! We loved Sea Gate so much, we are dreaming of next year's stay already!
Alfred R. from Sanford,, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in February, 2014 Great villa and Gregerio and Margarita were splendid in all aspects. A few items we would like to see enhanced:1. Server is weak and outdated. No wifi in many rooms. Needs to be upgraded.2. TV offers very few English channels. Please upgrade TV package.3. Beds are quite hard. We purchased foam "eggshell" pads for 2 of the beds, made all the difference. We left them there. Recommend pads for all beds, inexpensive at Walmart in Playa.4. Some sheets on beds were quite worn. Please replace.Again, we had a wonderful vacation at Sea Gate and plan to come next year. The above items are minor but would be nice. Al Rushatz
Nothing compares to the beautiful 'Sea Gate Villa!
Randy and Kathy T. from Oregon City ,, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in May, 2012 Fantastic location, activities, and villa. You will love, Gregorio (the Master Chef,) and Margarita, his beautiful wife and hostess extraordinaire! We miss them both and are so very thankful to have met them.Brothers and Sisters Reunion! May 12 through May 21, 2012.. Average temp 85 F. light humidity, rained 1 day. Perfect
A guest from Summit, NJ recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2012 Akumal is a very quiet, charming town. My family was extremely happy with the beauty of the surroundings, the quality of the house that we stayed in, and the friendliness of all of the people we met. Most everyone we met spoke at least a bit of English. Most of the population lives to the west of the main roadway, while the seaside homes and beaches are on the east side of the roadway. We had no safety concerns at all.
A guest from Roslindale, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in December, 2011 The villa was unbelievable, the gate keepers welcoming and the property management excellent. We will definitely recommend both the villa and to our friends
A guest from Rochester,, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 Casa Sea Gate is a gem. This is our second stay in Akumal (August 2011), and while we also enjoyed the first property we rented on the same block (August 2009), we fell in love with Casa Sea Gate. The property truly is beautiful. Upon our arrival one member of our group couldn?t stop saying how overwhelmed she felt because of how beautiful the place was. Not enough good things could be said about the caretakers, Don Gregorio and Margarita. They are SO friendly and professional. They not only keep the grounds in perfect condition, but also go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. For example, Don Gregorio brought us fresh coconuts one night right off the tree. On another occasion, he washed all of our fruit, cut it up, and put it in a serving bowl in the refrigerator. A few practical highlights: - The pool is QUITE large. We were a family of 8 adults and could have easily had 8 more in the pool with us! - The rooms are spacious. 3 out of the 4 bedrooms have queen/king size beds and the fourth has 3 beds ? one small bed and two twins. - Each bedroom has a BEAUTIFUL bathroom. - The ocean-facing side is also gorgeous ? don?t miss the sunrises!!!! There is no beach outside of the house, there is just a small sandy patch but it?s quite rocky - The beach/small grocery store is literally a 5-minute walk away. - There is a COMPLIMENTARY meal waiting for you on your day of arrival (prepared by Don Gregorio). We wish we?d known this ahead of time, so make sure to check with the person doing your reservation to verify. Overall, this house is awesome ? we couldn?t have been happier. We love Akumal and will be returning yet again. Akumal recommendations are: - Loncheria Akumalito (right at the entrance, right be the VERY EXPENSIVE grocery store) - Cenote Azul and Gran Cenote. Two gorgeous places! Cenote Azul is less visited and just as beautiful (bring bug spray) - Hidden Worlds Adventure Park ? worth the $60, but be prepared for a ?rugged
Michael H. from Albuquerque,, NM recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2011 Gregorio and Margarita, the property staff, made our stay a delight. Food, weather, location are great. The only problem we had was with the car rental, Autosel; I strongly would not recommend them.
Mike & Jackie L. from Sauk Rapids, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2010 We had an excellent time at Villa Sea Gate. The property was clean and had all of the accomodations we needed. Our caretakers Gregario & Marguerita were very helpful. We highly recommend that everyone try at least one of their dinners. The food is phenomenal. We would recommend staying here to anyone. Having the ocean in the back & pool in the front gives you the best of both worlds. We will definetly recommend this to our friends.
A guest from Everett, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 18 days in February, 2010 We have been visiting Akumal for 5 years now with our extended family. During that time, we have added children to our party and so have varied from year to year in our accomodation requirements. Each year we have enjoyed our visit, but have always made our following year's reservations with the intention that we find a house that would better suit our needs. After our most recent trip, however, we have made plans to return to Sea Gate, as it suited us perfectly and even allows space to grow a bit as we will be adding another two children to our party by our next anticipated time of travel. The layout is perfect, and the comfort, decor and ambiance of the house couldnt be better. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
A guest from Dallas, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in December, 2009 The staff was very nice but they were always there. We would have enjoyed more privacy and not have the staff always knocking on the door to gain access to the kitchen.
Geff H. from Flat Rock, NC recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in June, 2008 The house was great, and the hospitality of the property caretakers was the best of any vacation we have taken to date. Akumal is a great little village, and very convenient to Tulum and Playa del Carmen.
A guest from Suffolk, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in April, 2007 Don't miss Gregor's wonderful cooking.... and check out the pay-for-snorkeling in the lagoon early in your trip so you can go agan!
