Magnificent villa designed by the owner who is a renowned architect from Santa Monica, California. He and his wife traveled throughout Mexico for 15 years studying ancient Mayan and Olmec sites and then translated their influence into a contemporary and sculptural work of art following the tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright's Mayan inspired contemporary homes. The villa demonstrates the owner's love of the area and is designed perfectly for optimum ocean breezes with lots of living space.
Dos Jaguares is 5,000 square feet of white and silver marble floors from Durango, Mexico, custom built Honduran mahogany cabinets and furniture, photographs on the walls created by the owners of famous Mayan and Olmec sites transferred to canvas and art deco stylized glass blocks using ocean and sky colors brought from Miami. These art deco blocks are used throughout the villa and are inset in tall columns at the entrance of the villa and also on the oceanside. One of the many "magic" parts of the villa is the upstairs hallway which is composed of Mayan arches inspired by the Palace at Palenque. With the use of intricate lighting, they have a special glow at night, as does the central courtyard with stylized steps and tropical landscaping.
The upstairs Master bedroom is huge, as is the bathroom with a tub you can soak in while enjoying a view of the ocean, or, you can enjoy the fabulous open-air shower. This bedroom also has a large oceanside balcony. There is also the option to relax in the soothing Jacuzzi downstairs in the tropical garden setting. The choice is yours!
The upstairs Guestroom has a garden view, private bath and a small outdoor deck to watch the sunset. There is also a second Guest bedroom upstairs with two single beds and two futons. Downstairs is the living room, an extra bathroom, dining room, kitchen, and guest bedroom with private bath. This bedroom has a great view of the ocean and you can walk right out onto the beach! Dos Jaguares - a thoroughly designed villa for family living at it's best!

Datus T. from Salt Lake City,, Utah recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2016 We have traveled to the Akumal / Tulum area many times over the past 10 years. Of all of the villas we have stayed at this is by far the largest. It handled our family nicely and we were all surprised by the space and how nice it was. The beach is beautiful, if you like rock. You can walk down the beach to enjoy the sand, but it's not your ideal beach. The highlights... the Outdoor Shower in the Master sweet upstairs and the Maid & her husband... They are amazing! We would consider renting this property again if we had a large group. We never did get a visit from the property manager? I would rent again without question through Akumal-Villas.
A guest from Clinton, SC recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2015 the home is lovely. it was perfect accommodations for a big family that wants some privacy at times. Water pressure and temperature controls in the bathrooms were a little challenging, but were addressed when we finally asked. Rosa was the best!!! our place was spotless each day when she left. we were disappointed and stressed to find no baby crib/pack-n-play the evening we arrived, which made for a potentially tough night with a 14 month old, but we managed. I had purposely checked several times to make sure it would be there and set up, but to no avail. the one they brought the next day was in pretty bad shape, but at least it was usable. Overall a very nice property and a great vacation.
A guest from El Cerrito, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2015 It was a lovely stay, beautiful beach, snorkeling was wonderful, kayaking was great :)My only complaint was that the shower water was low pressure and hard to get hot water :(Everything else was great though :)
Michael M. from Alamo, California recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2014 This was our first visit to the Maya Riviera and we picked Akumal based on internet research. Akumal in general and South Akumal beach in particular turned out to be great choices. By far the least crowded beach and best for swimming. The villa itself could use a little TLC but we enjoyed it and it worked well for us. The staff were excellent as was the service from Akumal Villas.
Dos Jaguares is architectually unique and the bay is fantastic.
A guest from Akumal, Q. Roo recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in August, 2013 If you love Akumal and the Riviera Maya, you will love Dos Jaguares. Anyone familiar with the Mayans will notice the unique Mayan design elements incorporated into this villa. All of our family enjoyed the villa and the staff. Akumal Bay is a great place to snorkel, see the turtles and enjoy the beach life. We will all be back very soon.
Mike & Candice A. from Midland, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in March, 2008 What a wonderful place to get away for the hussle of everyday life. The house is very roomy, with good air conditioning. The view is wonderful with a great breeze going through the house. Just a l 1/2 from Akumal. We walked over several times. Would I go back? Can't wait!
A guest from Florence, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in January, 2008 We had an amazing time.Only shortfall was a real oven, as we had a wedding cake to bake, but the property manager let us use another villa for that- very accommodating! The space was not ideal for 12 adult guests as the room for 4 was quite small, but it was beautifully appointed and very nicely situated.
