Our casita was broken into while we were out for an hour in the middle of the day. This was upsetting and disruptive to our stay and ended up taking the better part of a day to deal with, cleaning up the place, filing a police report, follow-up. Better security on front window could have prevented entry. There was a small group of people attending a workshop staying in these casitas (and others). We chose not to move after the incident because we felt it might influence others (including a single woman) to also feel like they had to move and we didn't want to cause any more disruption then we had already experienced. Follow-up calls to upper management were totally unsatisfying. Instead of providing good customer service, being supportive and empathetic, they were almost postured, as if they were more concerned we'd ask for a refund then finding out if we were okay. The absolute best help we received was from the woman in housekeeping who came over immediately after the break-in and stayed with us until police arrived. She also checked out the whole casita because she knows where everything is. She seemed truly invested and concerned. The casita was lovely and we enjoyed Santa Fe. It's a shame that the break-in happened, but that isn't what left a bad impression with us. It was the insensitive way upper management responded (or really didn't respond) to us and their complete lack of follow through that was the worse part of the incident. It left us feeling discounted and unimportant when they should have been most helpful. It was a total lack of customer service.

Summer Get Away
Julia F. from Austin, TX recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in August, 2009
Positives: Wonderful bed, perfect and comfortable size casita, used the hot tub several times and always had it to ourselves. Negatives: Bathroom was a bit small, and TV too tiny. Immediate neighborhood a little run down, but loved being so close to everything. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location, amenities were fine. My only complaint is regarding the cleanliness--there was a musty, moldy smell in the bathroom.

My main complaint is with the property manager. We arrived 1 1/2 hrs before check in. We called Carlos, to see if we could check in early, he told us he would have to check with the cleaning folks and get back with us. As it happened we ran into the maid, and she told us the room would be available shortly. I talked with Carlos again, and he said it was okay to check in. Around 20 mins. after we were unpacked and sitting down to eat, I had a call from another person in the property mgt office. He proceeded to yell at us and told us we had to vacate the property immediately. He was rude and obnoxious, and babbled on and on about how he was the boss and no one had any right to give us permission to check in early. We did as ordered and left the unit. At this point we were just a little over an hour away from regular check in anyway. We found it highly unprofessional to treat a guest in this manner. We did nothing wrong. If there was a lapse in procedures, that was your problem. I've stayed in hotels throughout the world, it's more or less standard to allow early check in if the room is available. A small thing to do on your part, which costs you nothing, but goes along way in establishing goodwill with your guests. Carlos actually was looking after your interests much more effectively than his boss.Another incident we found rather disconcerting was the maids entered our unit while we were away during the day on Saturday without our permission and used the washer and dryer. The dryer was running when we came back. We had computer and camera equipment in the unit, and were not happy at all that you entered without our permission.Apart from these incidents we throughly enjoyed the unit. It's a great location, within walking distance to town. Very quiet.

Comfortable stay in "luxury casita"
A guest from Urbandale, Iowa recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in July, 2009
The Casita Montoya was a pleasant surprise in many ways: lovely decor, very comfortable bed, plenty of luxurious towels, easy walk to shopping and the plaza. One complaint: The lighting in the bedroom was very dim. That's okay at bedtime, but not during the day when you're dressing, etc. At our request, new lightbulbs were delivered, but they didn't improve the problem, since the light fixture itself is designed to mute the light. The casita was very clean and comfortable, except for the outdoor seating area, which we did not used because of the dirty condition. The kitchen was pretty and functional -- excellent stove, coffee pot, microwave. Better quality pots and pans would really complete the kitchen, but overall it was very nice. I have to say that my husband and I enjoyed a good night's sleep each of the four nights we were there, the bed was so comfortable and there was never any noise from outside, which is surprising considering the crowded residential area we were in. We would definitely recommend the casita to friends.

We did enjoy our stay. The casita was in a perfect place for walking as well as enjoying quiet. The enclosed porch was lovely. We were a little disappointed that the hot tub seemed mildew-y. We thought there should have been a few more kitchen amenities, plastic wrap, pepper, general things you would find. We love to cook when we vacation.

Charming casita, nicely decorated. Quite neighborhood. We walked to the Plaza daily. Our only complaint would have been that the outdoor grill was dirty and didn't work. Other than that, it was a nice place. We would likely return again.

Montaya Late May
Allen E. from La Conner, Washington recommends this property.
Stayed for 7 days in May, 2009
The layout took a little adjustment but after that we felt very comfortable. While I would recommend it these are the items that would be a concern. Do not think window AC would keep up in very hot weather. For any but warm days bath needs an exhaust fan. Would be very concerned about comfort in the winter - no weatherstripping on doors and there seemed to be quite a bit of air leakage. Would like differently arranged lighting in living - very harsh when trying to watch TV and read. But would come back.

Nice condition and location but noise an issue in Casita Montoya
A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2009
We have stayed at these casitas at least four times and have liked them (the walk to the plaza takes about 15 minutes) but during our most rcent stay in Casita Montoya we were bothered by noise from out neighbors. It was not their fault, --there is insufficient soundproofing between the units sharing tht particular building. Even the floor, which is common to both units, creaks when the neighbors walk across it.

Great place, but things went missing
Crystal W. from Lake Oswego, OR does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2009
This is a great property--spacious, clean, nicely appointed, but I had some inconsequential property taken while I was out sightseeing. I sent a note to the owners, one of whom was very responsive and thoughtful. He was not in town and so couldn't do much. The owner/manager who was in town never once contacted me, which I thought was odd and strangely disappointing. Maybe it wasn't worth their time since what went missing was only valued at $20 (scratch-it tickets which hadn't yet been scratched). Frankly, the theft was a huge disappointment and caused me to feel leery such that I didn't sleep well after that (if someone came in once--no evidence of a break-in, they could come in again, I thought). The owner with whom I corresponded about this situation assured me that they had never had any similar complaints--and I believed him. Still, had I had the money, I would have moved myself to a hotel since, prior complaints or no, it was clear that someone had been in my casita in order to take the property. In my estimation, these properties are nicely located and nicely appointed. It's great to be able to cook and feel as if one is "home" as opposed to in a hotel. If you stay there, just don't leave valuable things out.

The casita was clean and the washer and dryer came in very handy. We learned by experience how great adobe is, cool in day and warm at night. The casita is very nicely furnished, the bed very comfortable! There is a restaurant almost around the corner, Dinner for 2, that I would recommend to any one staying at the casita! We will definitely recommend our find to friends, as well as put Nomad in my "favorites."Thank you for a relaxing and comfortable week!

The place was immaculate and the furniture was all very luxurious. Walking distance to town & supplies. A few suggestions:-The hot tub was cold and the water looked green. It took several hours to heat up. Not much I could do about the color of the water except shower afterwards.-One of the other guests knocked over my motorcycle in the parking lot causing over $2000 in damage. Not Nomad's fault, but motorcyclists beware of the small parking area and loose gravel.-The instructions for the door lock you provided are wrong. Enter the code and turn LEFT to unlock, not right. -$70 cleaning fee for one night's stay doesn't add up. Wish I could have stayed longer but cleaning should be incorporated into the nightly rate. -Would have been nice to have some coffee grounds available in the kitchen to go with that nice coffee maker.

Casita Montoya in Santa Fe
Cheryl L. from Norman, OK recommends this property.

What a jewel of a place to stay in Santa Fe. Cozy, comfortable, and exceptionally decorated, for a rental property. We were within walking distance of the Plaza, and within walking distance of the Sandia Shuttle Stop,if you don't have a ton of luggage. The beds were comfortable, the linens and towels were good quality and the bathrobes were yummy. With three women staying we enjoyed the large mirrors and available plug ins throughout since there is only one bathroom. We enjoyed our morning coffee and evening drinks on the private patio. We did not use the hot tub, though there is easy access to it. I will definately stay here again and would recommend it to my friends.

The one negative experience this time was that the Internet did not work, which required that we go in to town to find WIFI so we could stay connected to the office. Aside from that inconvenience, this visit was great. It was our second time staying at this compound (we stayed at Casita Patron II last year) and we plan to return again. The neighborhood is surprisingly quiet and the casita is nicely appointed. It would be great to arrive and find ice in the ice maker...
