Da Kiawe Condo
A guest from Fife, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2016 Our time spent at The Estates at Turtle Bay was awesome! We had a girls weekend and stayed in the Kiawe Condo! It was beautiful and so spacious. The loft area was a bit too warm for us, but the bedroom and living room had so much space we just slept in those areas. The lanai was amazing, since it was totally screened we left the sliding doors open to enjoy the fresh air! The only thing that was a negative for me was that the dish washer had food particles, so it smelt a bit... There was no dish rack, so I had to use the dish washer to store the dishes that needed to be dried. Also, the rice pot in the condo wasn't washed good from the previous user... Rice was still stuck to the bottom of the pot. Other than that, we enjoyed our vacation!! We did go to the Surfer Bar located at the resort to enjoy so live entertainment, and that was a blast! Drinks were kinda on the pricier side, but that didn't stop us from enjoying a few...
Reviewed by: John C. recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2016 The Condo was very well appointed and larger than expected which suited our family that included teenage boys. The location at Turtle Bay was nice and quiet yet close to all of the sites. We look forward to our return.
A guest from Tokoroa, recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2016 We loved our accomodation. It had everything that we needed and we were close to the beach and pool. We loved every minute of our stay at Turtle Bay. We will definitely stay again.
Res E. from Laie, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2016 It is horrible experience. There are a lot of cockroach. I call to ask for spray, but nobody come. The bedrooms and the loft are so dirty. There are a lot of trash under the bed.
Audrey K. from Albuquerque, NM recommends this property. Stayed for 14 days in June, 2016 This being our third trip to Oahu and second to the North Shore, this condo met our needs completely. Plenty of room to stretch out, cook, relax, and prepare for beach fun. Clean, yes, but Hawaii has bugs so be prepared. The location close to fruit stands, food trucks and beautiful beaches was ideal. Our perfect Hawaii stay is beach, local food, farmers markets, beach, pool, beach. This location provided that, its about 5 miles to Waimea valley (farmers market Tuesdays!) and beach park (perfect) but bring shade, towels, snorkels, and make a backpack cooler one of your carry on bags, stop at Costco and you will be happy! This condo made our kids and our stay very comfortable for the limited time we were actually at the condo. Staff left keys and guest parking pass in the condo for us (thank you!) and the starter soaps (dishes/laundry) lasted our 14 days (thank you again!) Would return and stay right here again.
LEAH R. from ODGEN, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in October, 2015 We loved this condo. It was clean, in a great location, just a short short walk to the beach and turtle bay resort. The pool was beautiful with three mosaic turtles in the bottom. We saw lots real turtles in the morning at turtle bay and a variety of fish while snorkeling there. The grounds are lovely. We enjoyed the screened in deck. The only downside was the heat. We were there 10/29-/11/4 and the temperature stayed around 85. The ac in the master bedroom saved us, but it was difficult to sleep in the loft area even with the ceiling fan and the 3 small oscillating fans provided. Large box fans wouldve helped I think. This is a great place to stay if you want to stick around the north shore, there is plenty to do and the beaches are less crowded. If you are more into the city and more touristy stuff, keep in mind that it is an hour drive to Honolulu.
The Unit was wonderful, the resident management however, was not
Elena B. from Kaneohe, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2015 The unit was beautiful! We've rented a handful of different units at Turtle Bay and this was definitely one of our favorites. The unit was very clean, adequately furnished, and had all of the amenities we needed for our three night stay. There are two twin beds in the loft upstairs, and one larger bed downstairs. Some units we've rented in the past have large gaps in the stairs and railing leading up to the loft, but this one was much safer. Although the stairs were somewhat steep and narrow, my 2 year old was able to navigate it alright. The porch is screened in so you can enjoy the night breeze without the pesky mosquitos, which was a plus. The bathrooms (2 of them) were not as large as other units we've stayed in, but they did their job. The unit had a big flat screen TV, which was nice for our kids to wind down at the end of our busy days, and there is a washer and dryer in the unit. During our stay it was extremely hot, and this part of the property has a heated pool. Every guest we came across complained about the pool because it was so hot! It was like swimming in warm bath water with a bunch of other people. Although many of us complained to the resident property manager, they refused to make any adjustments. We were VERY disappointed in their unwillingness to accommodate the overwhelming requests of the guests, and were especially bummed that we were not able to make use of the pool as often as we would have liked. There was another pool on property (a little bit of a walk away) that was much cooler, so we used that one instead. It would have been convenient to make use of the pool next to our unit, but alas, we enjoyed our stay. I would highly recommend this unit, although if you go during the warm summer months, don't expect the property management to do anything about the overheated pool!
A guest from Friendswood, TX does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in June, 2015 We have stayed in many condos in Oahu and the surrounding islands. This condo was average at best. First, the negatives: ants were a problem in the kitchen-the rental agreement warns of this-nothing they can do. The pleather couch was falling apart. The condo offers absolutely no beach gear ie, boogie boards, snorkels, ect., which is rare for a Hawaiian condo rental. The positives: the screened in lanai was great! There was a nice breeze through the unit that made the single window a/c unit unnecessary. nice pool close to unit.
A very happy visitor from South Dakota says "Thanks"!
A guest from Rapid City, dakota recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2015 The condo was wonderful. It was clean and bug free. The beds were very clean and comfortable. There were ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room. There were table fans in the loft. This made the unfamiliar warm and humid climate more comfortable. It has been newly painted. The grounds were beautifully kept with many kinds of trees, bushes, and flowers. We loved our stay in Hawaii and appreciated the very comfortable condo we were pleased stay at. We have already told friends and family about our great experience and highly recommended this condo to them.
A guest from Hong Kong, HK recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in December, 2014 Very nice place to stay. Apart from the little far away of it's location, all are very fine! We had great time staying and would like to recommend it to all friends.
Cindy K. from Auckland, Auckland recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2014 Thank you for a wonderful stay. The condo was very comfortable having every thing we needed and having the extra sleeping area upstairs was perfect for our family. After hours Check in instructions were easy to follow which was much appreciated since we didn't arrive until midnight. A great place to stay for a family.
A guest from Waimanalo, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2014 My parents, sister and I recently rented two rentals at Turtle Bay. My parents and I were in 044 East and my sister and her husband stayed in 046 East. Both units were nice, however 046 East seemed to have more updated furnishing. Big screen TV vs older and much smaller. The master bedroom was also much nicer in 046 as were both bathrooms. Kitchens were set up the same, however appliances were also newer and nicer in this unit, glass top stove vs older electric. We ended up cooking and eating in 046 East just because it was easier and slightly nicer. Over all I will be renting again for just a quiet getaway for my family but pay close attention to which unit I choose.
Jo-Ellen M. from Maple Ridge, BC recommends this property. Stayed for 10 days in March, 2014 This is the second time we have stayed in this unit and were quite pleased with the upgrades since our last visit. We have used "The Estates at Turtle Bay" five times now and when we have had a concern, it has been dealt with in a very timely fashion. The staff at the office as well as the grounds crew are all very friendly and comfortable to be around. The perfect place if you want quiet and affordable.
A guest from Centerville, UT does not recommend this property. Stayed for 8 days in January, 2014 We have stayed at several condos and this one is just fair. It needs paint and a little TLC. Washing machine timer didn't work, so we had to manually override timer. On the plus side, bed was nice and comfy.
Property Manager Response: Response from The Estates at Turtle Bay, Inc. The condo has been painted and is getting TLC in many areas
Rodrigo D. from Curitiba, Parana recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in December, 2013 It was our first time in Hawaii and we can say that we made the best choice staying at Turtle Bay. The propoerty was ok, and was amazing being close to the beach with a Golf course besides. The beach is nice, surf in one side and a very calm pool on the other side. The property is ok with all amenities we needed.
Silvia O. from Boyds, Maryland recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in December, 2013 everything was perfect except the washer mashing was defective ruin a full load of fine cloth, the dryer mashing hose vent was not connected and the door screen in the master bedroom was broken.
Andrew J. from Aurora, CO does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2013 Day 1: limited AC, broken lamp chains. Day 2: Tons of baby ants. Day 3: Ants, cockroach, and broken washing machine. Day 4: Ants, TV issues. Day 5: Ants, Washer "fixed"...but still broken. Day 6: Ants and another big cockroach. Day 7: Ants. Day 8: Coackroach to send us off. No ants, though! :-)
Hillary C. from Highland, UT recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in October, 2013 Overall it was a great place to stay. It was a good size, comfortable, clean etc. The only thing I would really say is that it was too hot! You can't keep the AC running while you are gone & the upstairs loft never cooled down. There is only 1 AC unit in the place & it was in the master bedroom. There is a ceiling fan in the loft but only goes one speed and doesn't do enough. I probably wouldn't stay in this particular unit again unless there was another AC...felt awful for those sleeping up there!
David F. from Elk Grove, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in September, 2013 Overall our stay was fantastic! The condo was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect. I rated the condition of the property a 4 because it needs a little paint. I would definitely stay here again.
A guest from Oakland, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in August, 2013 The condo. was ok, in a great location, and the price was great. The condo. was dated, though. Peeling paint everywhere, badly spackled holes that no one even bothered to paint over--it was kind of a depressing sight. The power went out several times, but that was for the entire resort area. Still, the price (vs. the resort hotel) and location are hard to beat.
A guest from Honolulu, Hawaii recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2013 We have been to these condos six times. We have always been very happy with the location on the North Shore. The people here are very friendly, both staff and residents. The landscapes are beautiful, the ocean , a nice walk away, had turtles and Hawaiian monk seals, and the sunsets are gorgeous. Each condo has different things to offer and they all have what is needed for a pleasant stay. We are Honolulu residents that look forward to the quiet , peaceful ,stress less stays here at Turtle Bay Condo. It has become our traditional family summer time together. We have banked many great moments to share.
A guest from Ontario, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2013 While visiting family in Aina Haina we took our four granddaughters( two from California and two from Hawaii) for a mini vacation. Arrived on 7/29 with the announcement of Tropical Storm Flossy no storm but had rain. We swam in the ocean in the rain, had a blast. Loft was enjoyed by the girls- their special hide-a-way!A little warm in the unit, a ceiling fan in the living room would have been helpful.
Murray D. from Stittsville, Ontario recommends this property. Stayed for 11 days in April, 2013 Overall, this was a very good experience with excellent proximity to beaches, pools and other points of interest. The condo was well furnished with only a couple of minor shortfalls. The screened lanai was perfect for eating meals, drinks, etc and the WiFi was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and responded immediately to repair running toilets and a missing doorstop. Here are a few suggestions to make this condo even better:replace the rusty fridge immediately;repair the dishwasher;provide a kettle;provide a chest of drawers in the loft; andrepaint the bathroom. Thanks for a great stay!
A guest from Los Alamos, NM recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in April, 2013 Perfect place for a family of 4-6. Roomy space with enough of everything to live there for a week. Perhaps the only setback was when the small propane tank ran out on the grill but that was no biggy. We just bought one down the road. Thanks for the stay!
A guest from Summerville, SC does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 The property management company was great. Four of us were planning to travel together but flights were delayed so 2 of the group arrived before me. When the company heard what had happened they were wonderful with letting the other two into the condo. The condo itself was very clean, plenty of towels and the beds were not the most comfortable but they were ok. The furnishings were all very outdated. The refrigerator had rust all over it and the dishwasher was broken. The area was beautiful so I would stay in the estates again but not that condo and I would want to know much more about the condo I chose.
A guest from Honolulu, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013 Pros:Large unit listed as 1 BR w/ loft. Essentially, 2BR so if you're a family, it allows for ample space and for everyone to have their own private space. We were a fam of 5, 2 adults, 3 elementary school kids so the loft was a nice space for them. Covered lanai which was screened provided a nice outdoor space allowing for good cross breeze and no bugs.Of course, having a full kitchen and washer/dryer are huge pluses for a family going to the beach/pool and hiking.Cons: OLD. Exterior of refrigerator was rusting badly Paint is peeling in hallway bathroom. Loft was musty and strong acrid smell. Loft beds were very musty smelling. Liner on under part of the bed was coming off so it was difficult to see what was under there...Not sure if the acrid odor was from poor ventilation or urine. We found a used diaper under the bed in the master bedroom (discovered this only after we were doing our final run through when checking out).Half of the glasses and dishes in the cupboard were dirty... not sure if this was due to dishwasher or what. A few of the cooking utensils had melted cheese and gunk on it. Coffee filters NOT provided!!! Geez, $2 for a package 100+ at the superette 10 mins away... they can't provide you with some for your stay?We arrived on a weekend so we had to deal w/ the emergency dispatch who was rather inept. The gate entry code did not work and we were given a gate fob for the wrong gate. Since it was the weekend, this could not b rectified until Monday. Dispatch said she reset the code to allow entry but it never worked. We paid $145/night. At $100-110, it would have been a better value. This condo was economy at best (reminded me of a motel, actually) so, you have to weigh the space it provided w/ all of the negatives.
John B. from Medical Lake, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in February, 2013 We had a great time and would recommend Turtle Bay 046 East to our friends and family. The interior of the unit needed a coat of paint, but other than that it was a great place to stay. Excellent location, very nice grounds, and an outstanding staff. Although the unit did not have a view of the ocean, we certainly couldn't complain considering it is right on the golf course! We had a great time and would definitely stay at Turtle Bay 046 again.
Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in February, 2013 My family and I were staying on Oahu to visit relatives in Kaneohe, and wanted to take a side trip to the North Shore. We two parents, two grandparents and three kids. This property served just fine, despite the low ranking (one star) by management. The paint was peeling in places and the refrigerator was very old, but otherwise the place was in acceptable condition. It might not be the right place for your dream vacation in Hawaii, but it was fine for us for a couple of days.
A guest from Kaneohe, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2012 Check in was confusing, the office provided us with the wrong keys and kept calling me all day to arrange to get them back when it was their mistake. Floors in condo were dirty.
Balaji R. from Beaverdon, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2012 Our stay at Turtle Bay was pleasant overall. Although the room had older furniture/appliances, it was all clean and there was plenty of pots/pans. There were a few beach toys in the room for us to use, which was nice especially because there were 2 kids in our group. An AC in the room or an extra table fan would've been nice - it felt a little too warm in the upstairs loft, with just a ceiling fan.
A guest from Waimanalo, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2012 The estates lady told me it needed some rentavation.. I thought it was perfect! despite the warmness it was in the living room (needs AC/ FAN) it was perfect. I loved it.
Gail A. from Honolulu, Hawaii recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in September, 2012 GOOD- Great location. Mostly quiet. Good view. Easy check in. Spacious. All the necessities. Clean bathrooms and kitchen. Relaxing stay. Good value. Had a great time. Clean pool. Not so good- Musty smell in the loft. There was black residue/mold in the coffee maker. (I cleaned most of it.) There was a puff of lint when I took my clothes out of the dryer. Dirty lint catcher? Dim lighting.
A guest from Santa Rosa, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 1 days in September, 2012 Torn, shredded and burnt draperies, paint peeling from walls in every room, refer rusted, window frames rusted, filthy and gross furniture. Stayed one night only because we were forced to because of timing, moved to another condo the next day. General cleanliness was satisfactory but as the title states, WORST condo EVER!
Reviewed by: Shawn K. recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2012 We had a great time staying up at Turtle Bay. A very reasonable rate for the location. A great condo with everything that we needed. The only suggestion for improvement is that the water heater must be very small because we could not get 2 warm showers before the hot water ran out. I would stay here again as it is a great condo in a great location!
A guest from cupertino, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 Driving around Turtle Bay, they surroundings were so beautiful. However, when we got to the condo, it was so hot. There was only one AC which was placed in the masters bedroom. Upstairs had very poor lighting and no AC or windows. There were cockroaches in the kitchen and geckos and lizards in the bedrooms. The fan on the second floor which was attached to the ceiling (pullcord) did not even work as a fan. There was no wind or any type of breeze. It was impossible to stay upstairs. The kitchen was also infested with ants. My family was so disappointed. However, Turtle Bay is a really beautiful place, and I do recommend it for vacation.
Dirty rooms, bathroom filthy, broken items, very unhappy
Noe K. from Kailua, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2012 We stay at turtle bay condos once a year and it seems like it is getting worse. The rooms was so dirty the bathroom was filthy. Also was told had a upstairs bathroom so I booked the room. I am 5 months pregnant and it was an inconvienence for me. Overall it was a very poor stay. Best thing was the pool the only thing my kids enjoyed.
Scott N. from Honolulu, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2012 This was a 2 night getaway from Honolulu. Property Management Staff was very friendly and helpful. Unit was big and spacious and just as described. Parking and pool is very close to unit. Great morning walks to Turtle Bay Resort. Aloha.
A guest from Ewa Beach, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2011 Refrigerator dripped water & is rusty. Pots & pans is very old. Can opener is useless. Carpet & floor felt dirty. Lanai & screens is old & dingy. Vacuum made the most scariest roar. Loft lamps don't work. Loft is dark & dingy. Master bedroom air conditioner not up to par. *Front door lock not easy to open. Need new lock. Front screen door is warped & bent. Front landing full of lizard poop.
A guest from Kapolei, Hawaii recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in May, 2011 Everything was ok, but the kitchen faucet was broken, and I think the living room news a fan. The kitchen bar stools alsoNeeds replacing. Other than that it was nice.
A guest from Ewa Beach, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2009 We were not informed that the property would be under construction during our stay. We found out when we got there by a notice posted on the front door. It was very, very noisy with loud hammering on the walls waking us up! Very, very unprofessional of the office staff! We know the economy is bad and they want to fill vacancies, but this is just too much! Also, the loft had no ventilation. No one could be up there due to the heat. One little ceiling fan that did nothing to circulate the air.
Roaches on two queen beds upstairs and Manager's attitude towards customers
Nevin G. from Tucson, AZ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in July, 2009 1) First, four of my adult companions did not stay on the second floor due to huge cockroaches swarm between sheets. As a result, they immediately left the condo and went to Honolulu to stay for the rest of our vacation. I ended shouldering all the rental expenses.2) The refrigerator is so full of mold especially the door seals.3) The place is so dusty with dried mud spots on the floor.4) I was charged $125 for keys that Maralyn claims she did not received. I replied back to her and attached a picture where I dropped the 3 sets of keys. She said that it was the right building to drop the keys and yet denied that the keys were received. Maralyn stated that they are too busy in the office to look for the missing keys. I was totally shocked with the customer service I received. Is it because I am a former customer and have already paid my rent? If she were too busy, it seems she is only busy with incoming customers and doesn't have 5 minutes of her time to check for the keys. On my first call, I was given the phone number of the next door office condo to ask if they got the keys, instead I was given the phone number of the property manager to contact, but still to no success after several frustrating follow ups. This is like a nightmare to me, begging for assistance but with no response. My wife and I visits Oahu twice a year for vacation and may return there again next time, unfortunately my bad experience tells me not to return anymore. And does she realize that "word of mouth" is the best way to advertise or can be the contrary?
Beautiful unit but flawed ventilation in loft area.
A guest from Waianae, HI recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2009 The condo was comfortably furnished and the kitchen was fully loaded with everything we needed. The unit itself was very, very hot and the loft was rendered unuseable due to the heat. The loft ceiling fan was in poor shape (falling apart with annoying sounds) and did nothing to cool off the loft. No ventilation in the loft area with the exception of one tiny window. First floor bedroom was lovely and had a/c but windows and door not sealed properly so a/c was unable to cool room off completely. Aside from the oppressive heat in the loft area the unit was beautiful and the setting lovely. Would recommend a/c or better fans in loft area.
A guest from Albuquerque, New Mexico does not recommend this property. Stayed for 12 days in June, 2008 The location of the condo was great. We enjoyed the North Shores and had fun on the beaches. The condo itself was all right but not great. Bugs in the unit were a problem. If you are coming as a group, I would not recommend the Turtle Bay Estates, especially the east side. They enforced a quiet rule at all times and did not allow groups of more than 15 to gather regardless of time of day. They locked the pool areas so that we could not use them as a group, which was frustrating. If you are looking for a quiet, restful break then these units might be the place for you.
Adeline T. from Waipahu, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 1 days in May, 2008 The condo's air conditioner did not work properly and the first night was absolutely miserable. The emergency contact that was on the key chain was for some person who could not do anything to accomodate our unfortunate situation. My husband had to go to the main office after speaking to an associate who was able to accomodate us into a new unit
A guest from Honolulu, HI does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2008 The air conditioner in the bedroom was broken. There is no ceiling fan and the condo is very hot. There were two table top fans and one did not work. The bathroom door downstairs is difficult to open and close. There were too many conditions that made the stay less than perfect.
Property Manager Response:
No reports of these things were given to the office.Complaining after check-out does not allow us to help the guests.
Maria C. from Wesley Chaple, Florida recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in September, 2007 Master bed needs to be replaced, little bumpy and pillows replace due to liquid stain or use a protector cover then the pillow covers. Dresser drawer fell apart which I informed the management, didn't want to be liable.
