Set in the heart of the Languedoc countryside, surrounded by vineyards and with a large heated swimming pool, this really is the ideal place for a ‘get away from it all’ family holiday in the sun.Close to the Mediterranean and to the ‘Haut Languedoc National Park’, Les Sept Fonts is perfectly positioned for those wishing to explore this beautiful region of southern France. The owners are on hand to answer any questions; they also have a BBQ every Sunday evening for their guests and can organise wine tasting in and around the area. A baby-sitting service is available for those who wish to escape for a quiet evening meal and a large waterpark is nearby to entertain the children. There are five gites at the property, all beautifully furnished and with partial air conditioning and with satellite television and D.V.D players. There are three 2 bedroomed gites all have a double bedroom with en-suite shower-room, twin bedroom, separate shower-room and toilet, well appointed kitchen with cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, living area with sofa, chairs and television DVD. Two of these gites have wide access for people with disabilities. The two 3 bedroomed gites are equipped as above but with an additional twin bedroom. Out-side your gite there are acres of gardens to relax in. There are wonderful shaded areas with reclining chairs where you can doze, read or just enjoy a long cool drink. There is a super heated swimming pool (16 metres by 7 metres) surrounded by terracing with sun-beds and chairs and tables. There is also an inflatable pool for babies, and a play area for the younger children. Each of the gites has its own private terrace with table, chairs and barbeque for those wonderful ‘al-fresco’ meals. Close to Les Sept Fonts is the medieval village of St Pons de Mauchiens. Here you will find a super bar/restaurant, shop and post office. A few kilometres further takes you to St Pargoire with a pizzeria, restaurant, small supermarket and several other shops and bakers. A 15-minute drive will take you to Meze with its many harbour-side restaurants and safe beaches. The Area The Languedoc area of France is nature at its best, from the Camargue in the west to the eastern end of the Pyrenees. From the wild and lonely Causses to the sunny Mediterranean coast. Across highly scented garrigue and sun-soaked vineyards, there is an incomparable variety of scenery and fascinating towns and villages to discover. A land of many influences and a fascinating past, Languedoc-Roussillon has a superb architectural heritage covering over 2000 years of history. Les Sept fonts is perfectly placed for the Mediterranean; the nearest beaches can be reached in just 15 minutes. As well as beaches, there are beautiful lakes, mountains and gorges within one hours drive. The gorge opposite is just 30 minutes away. The area has large numbers of medieval towns and villages to visit including Pezenas, St Guilhem-le-Desert and the Cite of Carcassonne. Just over hours drive will take you to the heart of ‘Cathar’ country with imposing castles and monasteries such as Montsegur and Queribus Pézenas is a very pretty medieval town with an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants. The centre is full of buildings dating back to the 16th & 17th centuries. There is also an excellent market on Saturdays which provides an ideal opportunity to stock up on the wonderful regional delicacies, fresh salads and vegetables, meats, cheeses, seafood and of course the local wine. Take a stroll through the old town with its unique craft and clothes shops and finally stop at one (or two!) of the many bars or bistros in the ‘Place de 14th Juillet’ or ‘Place de Gambetta’. Dine out of an evening in any of the wonderful restaurants which cater for all tastes and welcome families. The whole region is dominated by vineyards, and much life revolves around the production of wine. Languedoc-Roussillon claims to be the largest vineyard in the world, and anyone who has spent a holiday here wouldn't argue with this. Take a bike ride along the winding little roads through the vineyards (bicycles can be hired close by) or take a short drive to the beaches of the Mediterranean. Cap d'Agde has some 14 kilometres of fine beaches and many attractions for the children like 'Toonland' and the famous 'Aqualand'waterpark with its giant flumes, water slides and wave machine as well as a super 'tots area' for the very young. Valras, a splendid Mediterranean resort with a wonderful sandy beach and a play area right on the beach for the children. As well as beaches, there are beautiful lakes, mountains and gorges within one hours drive. Just 30 minutes away, the Heric gorge is one of the most outstanding beauty spots in the Espinouse mountain range. The walls of the gorge are the finest rock faces in the region and the area is popular with walkers and climbers. The paths and rock pools provide a wonderful venue for a days exploring and picnicking. The is a super little scenic road train that takes visitors on a picturesque route as far as the Gouffre du Cerisier when you can chose either the train to return or take a splendid walk back down past the rock pools and foaming waters of the Heric. Swim under the many waterfalls, work up an appetite for a delicious open air feast of local cheese’s and meats washed down with a bottle of Languedoc wine.
