This flat is perfect for 2 and can accommodate up to 6 - and even more when combined with the other 2 flats on either side. Add another bedroom and bathroom by adding the studio flat above. You will be blown away by the gorgeous views from this flat, and the neighborhood is perfect for exploring Istanbul.
The rooftop terrace just one floor up (with outdoor cooking and dining facilities), sports a view that most travelers to Istanbul will never see. Dine outside with a view of Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, the Bosphorus and much more...a feast for the eyes and senses. A great place to entertain. Or simply be still with a glass of wine watching the seagulls circle the mosques in the moonlight.
I am a travel writer who chooses accommodations for global travelers just outside the main tourist zones, while close enough to get there in minutes when you want. This gives the traveler the feeling of really living in the place they are visiting even if just briefly. My dream is that travelers will connect to the people in the places to which they travel. That's difficult to do in a hotel room in the middle of a tourist zone.
This is a recently renovated flat on the 5th floor (no elevator) of a typical old Istanbul building located in the middle of an authentic, historic neighborhood, just up the hill from the bustling fishing area of Karakoy and the Galata Bridge leading to the Egyptian Spice Market and the Old City. It is just down the hill (1 block) from Galata Tower with its tea gardens, iconic Galata Tower with 360 degree views, restaurants around the tower, kebab stands, and a few blocks from the Tunel area, which is where Istanbul's best restaurants and live entertainment are located.
Please note that this building is like many old buildings in the historical center of Istanbul, a bit rugged and full of character. The 5th floor where the apartments are located is in excellent condition and the area is just full of delights at every turn and entirely safe. The other apartments on the first 4 floors are local businesses which close during off hours, with very friendly tenants. It is a building in a historical area swiftly undergoing gentrification.
The sunny flat is decorated with art, antiques, eclectic artistic design, and whitewashed wood floors. The white tiled bathroom has a large spa-like shower and teak counter top. Everything you need is here: wireless internet, flat screen tv, stereo, telephone, luxury linens, and kitchenware.
One bedroom plus a living/bedroom suite with sleeping area that can be closed off from the living room with curtains is decorated with art, antiques, eclectic artistic design.
Gorgeous view of Topkapi Palace and the Bosphorus from living room/bedroom suite. Even better view from the balcony, and astounding views from the large roof terrace above.
Rates are in usd and based on 1-4 people. Each extra person is $15 more per night. Wifi, dig cable tv, telephone, elec, gas, and water are included. $70 cleaning/prep fee and $45 for airport meeting/transport from Ataturk Airport, $70 from Sabiha Airport.
More about the neighborhood: Just down the hill from infamous "Music Street", full of Turkishish musical instruments, restaurants and cafes. Just a 5 min walk down the hill to Galata Bridge which leads you to Sultanahmet with its glorious mosques and palaces and the Grand Bazaar -get on the tram at the bridge and you'll be there in minutes - or walk for 15 exhilarating minutes across the bridge, past the hundreds of fishermen. A 5 minute walk UP the hill in the opposite direction puts you at the center of vibrating modern Istanbul life on Istiklal Ave. and its best restaurants and nightlife.
We have two larger 2 + bedroom (plus additional curtained sleeping alcove) flats for rent on the same floor as this one. There is a studio flat on the next floor up which you may add to Terrace One if you want an additional bedroom and bathroom. Mix and match these flats for a sizable discount.
Smoking on the balcony and roof terrace only please.
We look forward to hearing from you!
