If you want a charming neighborhood away from the carpet salesmen and vendors of touristy Sultanahmet, this neighborhood is for you. Close to the sites but far away enough to experience a luxurious lifestyle in a real home in a real neighborhood full of charming turn of the century architecture and the sidewalk cafe ambience of Paris. As a travel writer I have traveled the world in search of the best places to stay. Istanbul is my favorite city and this is my favorite apartment.
The view is simply stunning - a hotel room with this view would cost several hundred dollars per night. Check out the Dolmace Palace, the Bosphorus Bridge, Angel Island and much more from your living room, dining room, balcony, and master bedroom.
The neighborhood of Cihangir is a 10 min walk from Taksim - the center of Istanbul's night (and day) life with 950 bars and restaurants. Cihangir is just far enough away (10 min walk) from the hustle and bustle of the city center to provide you with a place to rest, but close enough to be there when you wish. Just down the hill is the tram that can whisk you to the Old City in under 15 min. This city is full on and very exciting. The apartment is quiet, a perch above it all, a wonderful place to come home to after touring the sites.
Relax on your balcony and enjoy watching ships from around the world glide along one of the world's most strategic waterways between the Maramara and the Black Seas. From your perch in Europe, gaze across the Bosphorus at Asia.
You are minutes from the tram which will whisk you in moments to the old part of the city - Sultanahmet with its mosques and palaces. A block away from the flat is a taxi station. But most tourist sites are within walking or tram distance.
Included in the rate is a one-hour session with our greeter, who will help you with logistics and give you the insiders scoop on the latest greatest places in Istanbul to shop, dine, and see the sites.
The Cihangir neighborhood is a favorite of foreigners, artists, writers, and film industry people. It is full of delightful cafes, and has the ambience of Soho or Monmarte, Paris. It's been written about recently in numerous newspapers and magazines. Google it and you'll see what I mean. A wonderful place to escape the carpet salesmen and hawking vendors of Sultanahmet.
