Only had one issue of major concern.Floor lamps had mercury vapour lamps which give off harmful residue when broken. This did happen and we were concerned about our 1&3 year olds playing on the carpet.These lamps should not be used where they are susceptible to breakage and exposure to children

There was a bit of a disconnect during the new years due to a personnel issue. When we arrived, Wendy, was absolutely amazing. She was professional and helpful with all aspects of our stay. She was great and made up for some shortcomings in the interim.

The main down side is we were in B building which faced north. We did not get any sun on the lanai. Future rentals we will ensure there is sun. Regards. Blaine

great location, great places to walk, close to many beaches in West Maui, Condo is short walk to little store and 3 great restaurants, quiet condo, right on a rocky shore with turtles one metre from shore and whales in migration season right out the window, super underground parking. This condo is very comfortable and I would always stay again. It has the atmosphere of the condo being one's own place. The condo itself is set up with all the needs of a traveller.

This was our second stay at hololani and overall we were very happy with it and will rent there again and give it a good recommendation . However we did specifically ask if there was a beach and we should have been told that the shore has been eroded and there is no direct beach access in January . Also we were also told there was wireless service throughout the property and it was very poor at best with spotty inconsistent coverage . There was an internet cable in our room. But most people are using ipads and or there phones when on holidays so that cable does not help much ... wireless within the unit appears to be necessary. I think the property pictures should be updated to show what the beach looks like just so people know what they are getting. The whales and turtles were still amazing .... The property management was going through a change when we got there and no one was in the office for the first few days and we had trouble getting anyone to answer our questions , after that someone was there full time and they were very helpful . THANKYOU.

Overall, our stay at Hololani was wonderful. Our unit B403 had been completely renovated within the past couple of months & was very tastefully done with high quality materials. Even the furniture was new. (As I write this Jan 8/13 - I see the new pics are not online yet). We were very impressed. We wanted to be literally a stones throw from the ocean & we were. Although there is beachfront erosion directly in front of Hololani which prevents you from using it, it really is just about a 30 foot walk to the left of the property to be on sandy beach. The view from our balcony was breathtaking and provided endless enjoyment watching whales in the distance, sea turtles often swimming 10 feet from our shore & amazing rainbows. We were very impressed with the early morning (6am)staffer who took apart each gas BBQ on the pool deck and cleaned them every morning from top to bottom. We thought the condo was well situated to all conveniences. 3 minutes to Kaanapali & 10 minutes to Lahaina. I advised the condo office/housekeeping that the vacuum in the unit is broken. Much needed with sand from beach at times. Also, although there is a communal box at office for boogie boards, couple of noodles, etc, it was empty most of the time. That's the only thing our unit was missing...couple beach chairs & 2 boogie boards would have been nice. We bought a $30 boogie board in town at Costco. We intentionally left it in the condo hoping it would stay in the condo for future renters. Fantastic holiday, we would return to this unit.

Pros: Oceanfront with beautiful view of Molokai. Turtles swim by every day. Condo is clean, with washer/dryer inside the unit. Walls are thick; you cannot hear your neighbors above or next to you. Close to super market, ABC Store, and some local eateries.Cons: No beach, it?s been washed away. No air conditioning. Plumbing is very old, at one point both toilets were not working in the condo. Shower head is from 1970; sprays every where but where you want it to go, on your head. Some of the furniture is pretty outdated and faded. Internet is extremely slow. Kitchen is super small, one person at a time only.If you don?t mind the missing beach, bad plumbing/shower head, no air conditioning, and extremely slow internet.....then this is the place for you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hololani. It's a great location with easy access to all sites on West Maui. The condo was clean, well equipped, comfortable and spacious. Parking is very convenient. Marcia and Donna are very friendly and helpful. Overall this is a great value for oceanfront property.

We have been to Hawaii about 15 times now. This was our first stay at Hololani and we loved it. Wonderful view, very well equipped condo. Can't wait to come back again, lovely grounds, great gardening.

Have stayed at Hololanit each year since 1999, B403 for about 8 years, for a month. Had to ask the reservations person, Ohana office, when we needed something, ie stopped up sink, elevator failure to work (she had to find the property mgr. to get it going. He forgot often to turn on poll area lights, light Tiki torches. One of the new grills doesn't work, apparently has not from the beginning. Pool area not properly cleaned, outside entry halls seldom vacuumed or litter on them disposed of. We will return to Maui but not to Hololani.

What a great place for a Girl's vacation!My friend and I left Rhode Island and the cold behind.The only part of Maui and this lovely condo tht we were not happy about was having to leave.

This unit was wonderful!!! The view, and the location of the unit made it posible to spend the whole day out on the deck with no sun. This was perfect for our 9 month old granddaughter, who loved the pool, which was very clean and never to busy. Is was quite and very comfortable for the 5 of us.

Gorgeous view the minute you walk in condo.... right on the water/beach (not rocks!)Snorkeling right in front of condo... surfing on good surf days. Easily paddle to "S-turns" surf.Lovely (very warm!) pool, chaises,ample BBQ's, and lawn/lush landscaping below lanai.Well supplied 2 bed/2 bath condo... down to new kitchen sponge, Cascade, dish soap, paper towels in kitchen.Bath had shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap and clear soap with a flower in it!Maid service (clean sheets, towels, & paper products) 1/2 way thru 8 day visit.... perfect!Very comfortable beds.Master BR/bath in back still had view of courtyard and peak to the ocean.Closeable (to LR) bedroom in front on lanai with ocean view was fabulous! Loved it!Dining areas inside and outside w/4 chairs each.+ one chaise on good sized lanai.This unit, and all of Bldg B, perfectly shaded from setting sun and wind... so loved it. Could still see sun set by leaning out a bit.Easy walking distance to Whaler's General Store (like an ABC) Black Angus, Roys, McDonald's, Dollies (local's bar,) surf shop, dress shop, deli, etc.$1 bus south to Whaler's Village shopping center and Sheraton (and more) resort area; north to Napili's Maui Taco's, Mama's, and Napili Shores Gazebo Restaurant (breakfast/lunch.)(long wait... order to go!!)(worth it!)Overall... great stay!

Elevator was broken for entire New Year's weekend. We were on 4th floor and did not find it an issue. Saw several people struggling with large baggage getting up to higher floors and some elderly people having a little bit more of an issue with it. Other than that, it was great - I would rent a another condo at this property in the future.

Room excellent--very clean and gave us ability to be together as a family. The yard is being worked on and prefer a better route to the beach. You cannot sit on the beach in front of the units. View outstanding.
