Hale Kai O'Kona is an exclusive oceanfront Hawaii vacation home one mile south of the town of Kailua-Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our home is a 2400 Sq. Ft. end property with no connecting walls. The beauty and privacy of this 4 bedroom, 3 bath home is unsurpassed. Whale, dolphin, turtle and other marine life have all been spotted directly from our lanais. Wonderful Hawaiian sunsets, viewed from the privacy of our lanai, are a beautiful way to end your day in paradise. The Big Island of Hawaii is the perfect spot to enjoy your dream vacation, honeymoon, or family get-together. Whatever brings you to these beautiful islands; surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, sport fishing, sightseeing, golfing, or just some sunbathing and Kona coffee in a tropical paradise, our luxury vacation home offers the finest starting point for your island day. The Big Island offers everything from snow skiing to volcano watching, so take some time and look around our site, then call us to book your next Hawaiian holiday.Both the Living Area and Master Suite have Oceanfront Lanais that run the full length of the home. A pair of large, sliding glass doors, provides access to the lanais and ensure unobstructed views of Hawaii's Pacific Ocean. Whale, Dolphin, Turtle, Rays, and other marine life are often observed directly from the lanais. The surf, sandy beach and black lava are only a few yards away. Restricted beach access ensures privacy and seclusion. We are an end unit with no connecting walls to the other units in the community. There are only eight homes in this development to ensure quiet seclusion.The Master Bedroom has one king-size bed, a private jacuzzi bath, private oceanfront lanai, breakfast area, walk -in closet and its own kitchenette with refrigerator and wet bar.The Second and Third Upstairs Bedrooms both have Queen-size beds and share a large bath with shower over tub. The Fourth Downstairs Bedroom has two Twin-size beds and has its own private bath with shower.The Kitchen includes Microwave, Oven & Stove, Dishwasher, Large Refrigerator, Coffeemaker and Toaster. In addition to a formal dining area and Lanai dining, the kitchen features a breakfast bar for additional seating.The Laundry Area is separate, just off the kitchen area and has a large capacity Washer and Dryer. This was our 3rd time to the big island and we were glad to be at this location since the rest of the island had heavy trade winds. Everything about the house was exactly how it was pictured on VRBO. This was my first time renting using the VRBO site and I was pleased. Edy, the owner was very promt in replying to my emails and making reservations went very smoothly. Being right on the ocean was blissful and we went to sleep to the sounds of waves hitting the rocks. Every day we saw turtles at the sandy beach next to the house, also spotted dolphins and whales. Being close to the town of Kona was great, lots of shops and restuarants, two farmer's markets to go to. We watched a fabulous Christmas parade in town and a Sunday craft fair. A great beach a mile and a half from the house. Perfect location to stay at and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Thank you Edy and staff at Kona Coast Vacations for making this a go so smoothly!!! |

It was just right for our family of six adults. It's a great base from which to plan day trips to various points on this amazing island. Typically, we would eat breakfast and start our day enjoying the views and strolling down to the water. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and serving meals. Check to see what's in the spice cupboard before heading to the store. We found grocery prices are best at Walmart and Target, which are both just a few minutes away; Safeway was super expensive!No complaints about this unit overall, however, it could certainly use some updating and refreshing. I would not object to staying here again, though I would possibly consider trying somewhere different if we ever return to this fabulous island. |

It is ideally located right on the ocean, with the sound of waves easing us to sleep. It is also a bit away from downtown Kona with its bustle and intensity. My mom is 88, needed her own room with bath and the unit has one on the ground floor, which was perfect for her.The home is attractively furnished, with lots of closet and drawer space for an extended stay. They also supplied more than enough towels, etc. for the stay. The management team handled the two issues we had (a broken screen and problem with internet access) politely and quickly. We couldn't be happier with the service.Overall we'd love to return to the Big Island, and if we ever do we'd consider returning to Hale Kai O Kona #7 in a heartbeat. Thank you! |

Perfect spot for all 8 of us to be together and have a great living area and lanai to hang out on together. Loved walking the lava rock shorline in front, seeing crabs, fish, sea turtles. The small beach just a few properties to the north was a good wading area and place to play in the water and see more sea turtles and fish. Great location within short driving distance to excellent snorkeling and swimming. The condo was very nice -- not overly fancy, but well maintained, clean and comfortable. A very comfortable beachouse right on the water. The house is very well equipped with lots of space for large families (we had 7 adults and 3 toddlers). Location is wonderful and we had lots of expeditions over the lava rocks to the turtle beach and rockpools. Perhaps the only thing missing was a pool and BBQ .. (maybe we missed this). We would certainly love to return some day. |

Our 6 children were very comfortable and there was plenty of space for them to spread out. They enjoyed playing in the nearby stretch of beach (not very big beach but good enough) and actually even saw turtles sunbathing on the shore. The adults enjoyed sitting out on the porch watching the sunsets and we even cooked dinner a few nights using the well equipped kitchen (we even baked a cake for our 7 year old's birthday). Everything was great and we highly recommend this unit. We just have one small request and that is to provide just a few more beach toys for the kids and maybe a couple body boards for the adults would be nice...but that's just us being demanding!! :) |

Stayed for 8 days in October, 2009 There is no checklist, no documentation, and no welcoming brochure. You walk in blind, my recommendation is to have a walk through with the property management and address all the concerns. My concerns, dirty towels, dirty dishes, dirty bathroom, and grotisic black mold in the toilet. Because the bedroom were on the second level, no air circulation after 10:00PM. I was not happy with a lock box covering thermostat. Property management think that everyone is the same, same temperature does not apply to everyone. |
