Ever since its origin in the 11th century it has always belonged to the Count of Romena, to the Florentine Republic and to the bishop of Arezzo. From its towers, battlements and mullioned windows it dominates the Casentino which occupies the whole of the high valley of the river Arno. In the highest part of the castle, above the towers, is a "liberty" greenhouse and a hanging garden, shaded by a centuries-old Lebanese cedar tree. All floors have direct access to the outside. On request it is possible to book the higher part of the castle together with the apartment on the ground floor (I5281/800x).
