La Rocca Farnese di Capodimonte was built in its present hexagon shape around 1460 by Pier Luigi Farnese on top of a previous tower-fotress from the second half of the 13th century. The castle is situated above the lake of Bolsena in a peaceful and very panoramic position with view of the lake and Capodimonte. At Rocca seven Popes have lodged as well as literary men, artists and politicians. The structure has been divided into 3 apartments (two of which are inhabited by the owner). The lake of Bolsena has two islands which can be reached by ferry or boat. At the guests' disposal is a pretty roof garden that includes some age-old plants shared with the owners. Free public parking.
