We loved our stay at Kolea 9D. It was an amazing vacation. The location and complex was great. Our only complaint was about the pool area, and it is a very big complaint! We were not allowed into the hot tub with the kids. The pool is not heated and can be chilly, so a dip in the hot tub would have been great, the kids were very disapointed. Also some of the pool staff were way over the top on the rules and too quick to remind you of them, they made sitting at the pool very unpleasant and uncomfortable. The pool was not a place to have fun at!

We have stayed at Kolea a couple of times and each time our expectations are met. The only 2 things that occured at our last visit was the carpet in our suite 9D was really dirty and children under 8 can no longer go into the hot tub located at the club - however, there are the tot pool and infinity pool that the children can use.

The place was awesome. Although I gave a 5 for the manager, everything was so automated I did'nt have any interaction with the staff, which is fine with me. My only comment is that the carpet in the units is light colored and the otherwise immaculate units have some stains on the carpet. Maybe in the future, use a different color or more stain resistant carpet. Again, the place was great!!!

WE HAVE STAYED AT THIS EXACT PROPERTY BEFORE AND HAVE ALWAYS LOVED IT! THIS TIME, HOWEVER, THE DISHWASHER BROKE ONLY 2 DAYS IN TO OUR 7-DAY STAY. WE LEFT A MESSAGE FOR THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY IN THE MORNING, AND ENDED UP HAVING TO CALL AGAIN LATER AS NO ONE RETURNED OUR PHONE CALL. AFTER REACHING THE MANAGER, SHE TOLD US THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE OUT THE NEXT DAY TO LOOK AT IT. THE PERSON WHO CAME WAS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, SO, WE RECEIVED A PHONE CALL STATING THAT YET ANOTHER PERSON WOULD BE SENT SOMETIME DURING THE FOLLOWING DAY. THAT PERSON, HOWEVER, NEVER EVEN SHOWED. WE GAVE UP ON THE PROCESS AND WASHED OUR OWN DISHES AS IT WAS NOT A BIG ENOUGH DEAL TO WORRY ABOUT, HOWEVER, I STILL FEEL THAT THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE THOROUGH.

Hidden Gem on the Kona Coast

We usually stay annually at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, but, with the hotel's closure after the earthquake, we found this condo. We have already booked for this year, and plan to stay at Kolea from now on! It's like a home away from home!
