We really enjoyed our stay at La Ventana. My ONLY issue wasn't with the house, but with the practice of charging every renter a damage fee instead of collecting a security deposit. We're very conscientious renters and have never had any issues getting our deposits back, so I don't believe we should be paying for other people's damage to the property. For one, it makes us responsible for other people's poor behavior, which we have no control over, and I think it can lead to other people being less careful with the property because they're not worried about getting the deposit back. I loved the rental, but I will seriously consider renting elsewhere just because of this policy.

This house is great! This is our second time staying at this house. On sunny days you can see the ocean from the back livingroom. Comfortable for families and friends with 3 bedrooms all with their own TV/DVD players. Great spa tub and seperate shower in master bath. Nice hot tub with ok views-could use a little more privacy. Wonderful wildlife viewing. Great beach within short drive. We all had a very relaxing and fun time!

Our stay was just what we needed to unwind. We normally stay in one of the ocean front properties ( the Barlow mostly) but we had our dog with us and needed a place that accepted pets. This is a very lovely home. It is newer than some of the others so has some nice things you see in new homes ( hugh master bath with the jacuzzi bath and walk in shower). The views of the ocean are farther away but it is safer for our dog even though there is no fence. We did hear the seals one day and could hear the ocean some of the time. Our only complaint would be the excessive fees charged which came out approx $270!

We had a wonderful stay at a new, beautiful, clean home. Our 4-year old grandson saw the expansive master bath and said, "Why are we staying in a hotel?" He hadn't seen a master quite like that in a home. Whirlpool bath, separate shower, great view from the bedroom. Views from all but one room. The upstairs crows nest was small, but very popular. The kitchen had new appliances and there was a TV in every room. We had a great time!

I somehow had assumed that the beach was closer to the house, that is, that we could easily walk down the road and then take some stairs to the beach. It was a surprise when we had to take the car and drive down to the beach.

House was neat and clean but upon closer look the couches had animal hair that raised allegic reactions to level of taking OTC medication to control rash/reaction. PLEASE clean the couches. VCR/DVD was not connected to television. Television remote was broken. System has a satellite, so we got the tv/vcr/dvd/sat working by wiring them in series (you had to use sat and vcr remotes to control television). Limited reception from paid satellite. Not a big issue as you visit area to be outdoors. BUT, when it rains, you need some indoor entertainment without having to spend time to fix problems. No games or other items in house to keep kids amused. Speaking of rain, no rain gutters on front door, so you WILL get wet coming or going if its raining. Careful with the wood love seat on the back comment on the spa as it was super clorinated so we didn't use it. Overall the house is new, and with a little work, could become a diamond if the rough edges are worked out. Loved the black tail deer herd roaming in the yard every morning and night...

La Ventana at Irish Beach

This dog-friendly place was a perfect get away for our first family vacation with our ten month old daughter. The house was beautiful and very toddler-friendly (though it had no high chair.) Our only complaint is that the gas fireplace only works via a remote and there were no instructions for the remote. Despite our best efforts (and my husband being a computer programmer), we couldn't get the fireplace to work - which was a real drawback when you're looking for ambiance. The (Irish Beach, generally) is wonderful. The private beach is great. The location of the home is Irish Beach is nice. We've stayed in oceanview/bluff properties before and we liked those, but this one has great ocean views, despite not being on the bluff. Deer and other wild life loiter in the yard. We'd definitely stay in this place again - provided we get instructions on how to use the fireplace.

Four friends & a small dog had a great stay at LaVentana. The house was very spacious with a fantastic view(a pleasant surprise, as we knew it wasn't located right on an ocean bluff). The house was well stocked, & the property management personnel where very helpful & prompt with our request for assistnace. We would definitely stay at LaVentana again.

Our family wanted to rent 3 homes within walking distance. The property manager was extremely helpful. She came up with two options--3 houses right on the beach and 3 on the other side of the road. We enjoyed our stay.

This was our second stay. The home is cozy and much nicer than the pictures can show. Everything was clean, but the pipe under the kitchen sink was dripping into a container which we had to change.My personal caution for those with allergies. We choose this house because they accept animals (we have a small dog). This stay I slept in the bedroom with the telescope. I am not sure if it was the product to clean the rugs/dander from animals/vaccum stored in the closet (which I discovered when we were leaving), but I was very affected by asthma/allergies in the bedroom. The living area was not a problem. During our first stay the property was very new and I was in the master bedroom and experienced no allergic/asthma reactions.

This rental property is infested with cockroaches. We ended up throwing out our personal property. We did not even get a phone call from the management to say sorry for the inconvenience's you experienced during our vacation. The home owners did not respond to our request for help with the bugs.

Relaxation on Mendocino coast

Beautiful home with all the conveniences. Home is on east side of Hwy 1 but did not hear traffic and walked to beach. Great to sit back and relax in yard, on deck, or living room, all with ocean views. Especially recommended for dogs since no leash restrictions, in contrast to Sonoma beaches.
