The fireplace was a little smokey, even with the flu open and the chimney heated. The batteries were dead in a couple of the remotes. Other then those small issues I would recommend this house for a couple. Had everything needed for a wonderful weekend; a view of the ocean, a hot tube, a fireplace, and a comfortable living space.

This trip was a surprise anniversary trip for my husband. I made the initial reservation 3 months ahead of time and sent a check for half of the rental, as instructed. They never received the check. I sent a second one, AFTER paying to cancel the first, and yet again, they didn't receive it either! I had to pay to cancel that check too. I ended up having to pay by credit card, which I hadn't wanted to do. Other than that fiasco, we enjoyed our stay. The window in the BR and one in the LR, plus the front door didn't have screens so we had to keep them closed. It was a beautiful warm week and whales were abundant, but we couldn't listen to the whales or ocean as we had to keep the windows closed to keep out the bugs. Also, the previous guest must have had a long haired white dog because there was dog hair everywhere, including on our clothing, haha. They should instruct their cleaners to vacuum the furniture. BUT, it was very peaceful, quiet and Irish Beach itself was wonderful. Lots of walks and reading. Beautiful setting!

Hi, I left a message about some concern for the dish washer, it had standing water in it when we arrived and it made the house smell musty until we aired it out. The hot tub did not get very hot so we did not enjoy it that much. Over all we had a wonderful stay and the house has nice energy and we would rent it again.

We had a nice stay because of the location and the open floor plan of the house. We did have some issues because the VRBO website is not accurate re amenities - no gas fireplace, pets are allowed, hot tub not very private and other more minor inaccuracies. We are readers and there were no good reading lamps in LR. One bedside lamp flickered when heat was on. When we arrived there was an open box of mouse poison on the kitchen counter which was not very welcoming. Also, there was a rain leak next to the fireplace the first night.

Our stay at the Carter House was extremely peaceful...the view was beautiful, and we enjoyed time looking out at the deer in the front yard while a fire danced in the fireplace. We can't wait to go back!

I visited the northern coast of CA based on the advice of a friend and it evolved into the best vacation ever! The location is ideal, being in close enough proximity to attractions and restaurants but enclosed in a quiet haven that oozes rest and relaxation. Being so near the ocean is a wonderful respite from the beauty of the desert. Nature is really at your doorstep here as well, from the ocean vistas to the deer roaming the meadows to the playful sea lions on the beach. The Carter home was cozy and comfortable and though I arrived on a dark and foggy night, the instructions awaiting me were clear and the home lit for my pending arrival. The hot tub was wonderful under a magnificent starry sky, made all the more wonderful with the sound of the ocean in the distance. It had been years since I had so deeply slept and rested and I look forward to my return very soon. Perhaps I need a month's vacation this time. Thank you Irish Beach rentals for your wonderful help to make this a magnificent stay!

Our Labor Day Weekend stay in the Carter House at Irish Beach was most enjoyable. The facilities at the house were excellent- oven stove, refrigerator, dishwasher all sparkling and useful. If you are palning a long stay and not eating out all the time, you can easily pick up most items in Manchester (4 miles south). Otherwise bring a few items to get started with and pick up the rest when you visit Fort Bragg (a Safeway- 30 miles north). If you have children (that will sleep in the loft) be aware that it is a steep climb up the ladder (and no sleepwalkers).Quiet, relaxing, wonderful neighborhoods to walk around and a huge beach (but not necessarily for swimming- this is the north coast, remember).Many exceptional day trips up down and inland from the coast. Hiking (in state parks, artist shops, the Skunk Train, coastal fishing and so many wonderful restaurants at all price ranges- what a wonderful place to stay.

This was a great little getaway, perfect for our family of 4, which includes a 5 year old and one year old. The 5 year old loved the loft, and the master bedroom was very roomy, no problem having a crib in there (thanks for providing it!). The location is fabulous, with nice views, great walks nearby, and lovely coves and beaches an easy drive away. The house could use a little updating but it was clean and comfortable.

We paid $90.00 for a cleaning fee and the house was dirty. Rat poison on top of the refrigerator, dirty bed linens, spider webs everywhere, dirty throw rugs, dirty utensils in the kitchen. We were very unhappy about the condition of the house.

I LOOKED FOR HOURS TRYING TO FIND THE MOST ROMANTIC, CLEAN, ACCESORIZED WITH(SPA, WALKING TO THE BEACH, VIEW, KITCKEN,ETC.) AFFORDABLE AND SCENORIC PLACE TO RENT OUT FOR THE WEEKEND AND THIS WAS THE SPOT. WE HAD DROVE INTO TOWN WHEN WE LEFT TO RETURN HOME AND ALL THE OTHER PLACES I WAS INTERESTED IN DIDNT EVEN COME CLOSE TO PREPARING TO OUR SPOT!!!! I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHO NEEDS A VACATION OR A DAY AWAY IN PARADISE! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

The house is well-stocked: kitchen gadgets, electronics (TV, stereo, DVD & video player), extra pillows & blankets, board games, videos, books, etc. The bed is very comfortable. We slept soundly every night. The beach is walking distance. We enjoyed the ocean views from the window seats & hot tub. Nice deck, great hot tub & BBQ grill. Very relaxing overall. My cats enjoyed it too. Everything was perfect, except a carport would be nice. We can't wait to return!

This was one of the best vacations I have ever had. The location was perfect, the view was wonderful. The hot tub was the icing on the cake, as you could see every star in the sky. The neighborhood was very peaceful. I will definately be returning!

Went week after Labor Day - a beautiful time to be in Mendocino. Home was great - hot tub wonderful - but it wasn't heated when we arrived so could not use it the first night. King bed was nice. Would stay at Irish Beach again but get a home closer to the water. And call the day of arrival to make sure the hot tub is set up for arrival. Visit the Botanical Gardens - they are very beautiful and relaxing.

We stay in the mendo area frequently to visit with family. We found Irish Beach to provide low value for the dollar. Unusual extra charges that we found to be high and unnecessary increased the cost and we will not stay there no recommend it. Fortunately there are lots of options in mendo. I recommend you review your policies and charges to be more competitive in the marketplace.
