Dogs on the beach A guest from Davis, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 31 days in January, 2013 Everything is great except the dogs on the beach. Even tho there's signs everywhere as you enter the beach area, stating that dogs aren't allowed on the beach, we see several out there every day. We've confronted a few of them & reminded them of the rule, we've talked to the local police and still we see dogs day after day, and not all people have been cleaning up after them. This might deter some people from coming back. |

They do all they can to make your trip wonderful. This unit has a great view. It needs a new mattress in 2nd bedroom, but the bathroom there is great ideal for handicapp person. The property which is out Bender's hands is noisy, you hear everything above you and beside you. The elevators are slow and very hot could use a fan or some type of ventilation. My favorite places to stay is Ocean House and Gulf Village. Try Bender Realty and you will never use anyone else. |

Everyone that I spoke with, either on the phone, or in the office personally, was completeley professional and courteous. The unit was in a great location, the beaches were not nearly as congested as other spots, but still had ameniteies like chair rentals, jet skis, etc...available, and the view was gorgeous. The one and only reason this is not a complete 5-star review, is the fact that the decor is very dated. I wouldn't say tacky, but definitely the 80's beach vibe, LOL! Not that it mattered, but just felt I should be honest. However, I would not hesitate to rent again. Thanks for such an enjoyable, relaxing trip! |

Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 We stayed in Island Royale unit 1103 and while we please with the unit and the condo overall we did find that the shower in bedroom 1 didn't work which caused 5 people to have to share 1 shower and the shower that did work was a handicap shower which is fine but it could be removed but would fall on your head. We also did not like the fact that the pool stayed so cold all the time.If the sun wasn't on the pool it was like ice. Which the sun was only on the pool for about 2 hours each day. I would stay at this unit again if the showers were fixed. |

The condo has a great location and the overall property upkeep was good. However, when we got to the condo, it was not cleaned as it should have been. There were dirty sheets sitting in the corner of the living room when we arrived. There was actually trash under both beds. The tile floors were dirty and had dust/dirt in the corners and on the base boards. The kitchen needed the most attention. Half of the dishes were dirty that were in the cabinet. There were crumbs on the floor and dryed up food in the cabinet under the sink as well as the pantry where the trash can is kept. The master bathroom sink did not drain properly. With that being said, the property manager asked me why I did not call immediately to have them correct the problems. After traveling 10 hours to the location and having 4 children that just need to relax, I took care of the cleaning myself. I brought the issues to management attention and believe that they will fix all issues; they seem most helpful. I want to take the time to write this so that the problem is corrected in case you choose to stay. With a good scrub down, this will be a perfect stay! |

Stayed for 28 days in February, 2011 still waiting for over 2 months to have the patio door fixed, furniture need cleaning badly, pans, etc. discusting, wasted 3 days of holiday because owner wanted to fix burning smell and smoke in kitchen by himself instead of calling repair person. Bender sent us to another condo for 1 night because of the smoke, pain having to move for one night just because they wouldn't call a repair person to check the applicances, is the wires hadn't burned off the relay in the fridge, there chould have been a major fire in the condo, nobody but us was worried. We had to shut off all breakers and everything in the fridge was spoiled so had to spend part of another day itemizing what was in the fridge and then waiting a day for a cheque from Bender, then going shopping to replace the food. What a pain, so it took 5 days in total before life was back to normal. Great location just pick a different unit, |

Stayed for 31 days in January, 2011 bring toaster, frying pans, cake pan if you will be using them, the ones here are discusting, Bender was wonderful, if you can get the place at a reasonable price go for it, otherwise pay the extra $100 and get a better furnished place. The location and building are great it was just the furnishings in the condo. Had a great time and love Gulf Shores, even with the cold weather and the odd tar ball. They have had a crew walking the beach just about every morning cleaning the beach so normally you won't see any tar. |

Needs improvement with safety and security and cleaning. A guest from Michie, TN does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in August, 2010 Check-in was after 5 PM and used the phone system outside in the rain and got disconnected not to mention soaked. Could have been a little more covered from bad weather. Cond Decor was nice. View great. Condo was musky. Exterior window was not locked and almost didn't get it locked the first night. Both beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Condo seemed clean but there was visible food, (nut, chips, cereal)under bar stools, end tables, dresser, on patio and patio furniture. Vacuumed and purchased air fresheners helped. Parking garage lights were out at pool and boardwalk entrance making it very dark. Saw a security person one time that week. I was alone and waiting on my daughter to return when approached by a local on his bike in the hot tub at sundown Friday night. After my daughter joined me and he gave us his life history, and said he had keys to a lot of the condos. He had family that worked for one of the realities. That was creepy. We finally got away from him when he stumbled out to get his beer can that rolled into the pool. Remembered later, I had left our new beach chairs at beach storage bin, but was not going back for them that night and it was so dark in that area. Of course, beach chairs were gone when I went to get them saturday morning. Saturday evening some teens parked in the parking lot, got out their skateboards and begin skateboarding down the parking garage ramp behind my van. I moved my van because I was afraid they would hit it. I come to Gulfshores 3-6 times a year and this was probably the worst experience, especially for 3 women alone. I've never had any complaints before. I was glad to check-out Sunday. Had I not got such a discounted rate, I would have probably complained. I figured you get what you pay for. Informed at check out and left this info at check-out on survey. Was told I should have called and reported but I did not want to make any trouble. Our stay at Island Royal Suzie H. from Lafayette, LA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2009 I loved our stay at Island Royal. There are just a few things that need improvement. The elevator situation has not changed in years. We had to wait so long we took the stairs and we were high up. The refrigerator situation has not changed either and i felt like it took the condo a good day and a half to cool off as well. These are the things that i have experienced in the past and would like to see improvement on in the future. Other than that a great stay. Love Love Love Pier 33 store. I wish we could have gone up to the roof we did years ago what was up with that? |

The only suggestion that I would make would involve the actual unit. #1103 had outdated tv's. The unit I stayed at last year had flat screens. Also the balcony tables, chairs were plastic. I would like to have seen a more sturdy units, similar to the unit I stayed in last year, # 903. If I have my choice I wouldn't choose 1103 again, but if it were the only one available I would. I do have to say the price point was a good deal, which is what made me decide on that unit. |

Everything was very nice and very clean which are two items that I always look for. I have been using another realty service in Gulf Shores for rentals, since we come down almost every year, but the service we received in the past has not been exactly favorable. The service, the hospitality and the one-on-one service we received at Bender was excellent. We will definitely use you again. As a matter of fact, I have already recommended you to a friend. The part that gets sun is shallow so all the loud kids and parents yelling at their kids are there. I stuck with the beach. I won't stay there again only because of the pool. |

Stayed for 6 days in March, 2008 We were very pleased with staying at Island Royale and have recommended this vacation to others. The location was great on the shore, it was extrememly quiet, the building well maintained. It made for a great and relaxing vacation. We were expecially pleased that there were very few college spring breaker kids. We were able to watch the sunrise and sunset from our balcony. Our only complaint was that the condo was really dusty when we arrived. There was a layer of dust on the TV, VCR, furniture and on the cooking utensils in the kitchen. Also, the carpet appeared dirty. From the guestbook in the condo, it looked as if the condo had not been used in about 4 months. We do plan to eventually return to Gulf Shores and will contact Bender Realty to help locate accomdations. Thanks!!! |
