Worst Service From Palm Island
PAULA S. from ORLANDO, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in July, 2016 This was one of the worst experiences we have had in all the years we have been coming to Palm Island, the plumbing was coming out of the wall in the 3rd bathroom shower we complained to management and there was no follow up to us I had to place another call to facilitate an answer. The villa had small bugs on the master bathroom counter I complained about as well & not taken care of, we had cockroaches as big as lizards in the kitchen and down stairs bedrooms. We had multiple issues with the 2 golf carts we rented that died leaving us to push them even when charge over night. For the amount of money we pay for the villa and golf carts the service and villas should not disappoint. We also found out that there were land & sea packages offered to others and not to our 2 families that have been coming for 10+ years - VERY disappointing
A guest from Bloomfield twp, MI recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2016 Overall a very good experience. Island is beautiful and staff was very friendly. We stayed in a three bedroom plus loft toward the northern part of the island. Unit was spacious and well appointed, not updated but served our purposes very well. We did bring food with and ate out. Honestly the dining experience at the island restaurant was subpar. I think this was a combination of our group size and our waitress who was not having her best day. Food was good. You definitely need a golf cart to get around the resort and not all units are pool or ocean side. There is convenience store on the island that sells basics and ice cream but closed surprisingly early. You are allowed free ferry ride the day of arrival and one pass each day of your stay so you can leave island for groceries and or dinner without added cost. Very expansive peaceful beach, and not very crowded in June.
Michelle J. from Windermere, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2016 We have been coming to Palm Island for over 20 years, and this trip was to celebrate our oldest daughter's high school graduation with family and friends. As always, it was relaxing, peaceful, and an awesome time. We have never been disappointed, and are planning our next trip already.
Evan H. from Oviedo, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2016 House was nice, location was great, however the decor and furnishings in the house were VERY outdated and probably should have been replaced 5-10 years ago. Living room furniture was worn and outdated, beds upstairs were very cheap. I asked specifically if there was a TV in the bedroom (my girlfriend needs it to fall asleep) and we were told yes. However it was an old tube TV hooked up directly to cable, yet there was no digital converter box, so the TV got no signal. The digital tv switchover happened 7 years ago. Overall, the house is great, but the property management should take the house off the rental market until the owners make the appropriate updates to the interior to bring it up to par with the rest of the resort.
Mirelys M. from Miami, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2015 Palm Island is like a hidden treasure. It's like untouched by man. You feel like you have the island all to yourself. It's so much fun to drive around the island and my little golf cart And enjoy nature at its best. My kids loved it and are already asking when can we go back. I hope very soon :-)
A guest from Beaverton, OR recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2015 Nice stay on palm island and property. Problem with cocoanuts rentals. Accused of denting the bumper, which we are not aware of doing. Wanted to charge extra $107. After asking how that number came to be went down to $75. The day before would not let us rent a cart for half day, even though there were plenty of carts. Not professional, and was scammed out of $75.
Alexander J. from Saint Petersburg, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2015 We've been coming to PI for about 3 years and this was our best experience to date. Everything about the rental was excellent. We cannot wait to come back.
Greg G. from Toledo, OH does not recommend this property. Stayed for 6 days in April, 2015 I love the island and have been there 7 or 8 in the past, very secluded and it's like you have the beach and pool to yourselves. The unit we stayed in this time was poor quality, dirty carpet, kitchen drawers that fell off the tracks when you opened them, cabinet doors that were loose and afraid they would fall off. Not the quality you would expect for the price. This unit was also much more difficult to walk to the beach than many of the others.
Robin M. from Weeki Wachee, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in November, 2014 My birthday weekend was awesome !! It was shared with family and friends . We didn't have good weather but made the best of it.
Anthony C. from St Petersburg, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 1 days in October, 2014 This was our 5th year here at palm island, and plan on coming back next year.Lisa Halpin and her staff are the best.See you next year Palm Island.
A guest from Winter Springs, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2014 Spent three wonderful days at the property. Very quiet and secluded. Exactly what we wanted. My only negative was that the grill should have been cleaned between stays. Otherwise very pleasant stay.
Eduardo M. from MIAMI, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2014 This is my 2nd time visiting the resort and always been a satisfied experience. I found the peace and quiet that I need for rest of my busy life, so I'll keep visiting in the future. Thanks for the gentle attention
A guest from Englewood, FL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2014 The resort and island are incredible and the resort staff is as well. I have stayed on the resort many times. However, this unit has some problems. We found ants everywhere. We were not able to leave any food out anywhere (like cheese and crackers even for 30 mins) because the ants were all over them. We had to throw out all of our food that was on the counter. We called maintenance immediately, a nice man, but he can only do so much and put out some ant traps. We also found some roaches. We had 3 boys with us (ages 10-13) good kids, and they were playing a frisbee game outside and the neighbors complained at 5 in the evening for noise! The other end of the resort is better for rentals. Sorry to have to say this because I do love the resort but not a good experience this time.
Wonderful and relaxing weekend getaway with great friends!
A guest from St. Petersburg, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2013 Great, other than finding somewhat hazardous material that was left in cottage by either prior guests or cleaning service. Was surprised to see that management wasn't too concerned about same with small children staying in cottage.
check in a nightmare! time spent on Palm Island was paradise
A guest from Fort Myers, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2013 We have stayed at Palm Island for many years. It is by far the best vacation spot for families that just want to get away from their hectic lifestyle.
Valerie S. from Safety Harbor, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2013 Every year we meet up with friends and their families in Palm is a yearly event that we look forward to along with our children. We have created such wonderful and long lasting memories. The employees have always been welcoming and accommodating to our needs. We look forward to our Palm Island experience next year.
Iva J. from Miami Beach, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2013 Beautiful and peaceful beach. You barely see any people. Like your own private island with an amazing beach house. Love it
Property Manager Response: Response from Palm Island Resort Iva, Palm Island Resort is the exact right place for a ?needed weekend at the beach?. The sunsets are wonderful and the uninterrupted view of the Gulf of Mexico is a real treat that we are pleased to share with our guests. Let us know when you are ready to visit again. We?ll have your slice of paradise waiting for you!
A guest from TEMPLE TERRACE, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2013 Palm Island is surrounded by the natural beauty of old Florida. It's beauty and serenity keep me coming back along with the friendly and accommodating staff at the resort.
A guest from Cape Coral, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 This place was a treasure to find. We have lived in Florida for almost 20 years and never heard of the island (and we only live one hour south of it). Our family and friends had a wonderful time relaxing on the island, playing tennis, going to the beach, and driving the golf carts. We collected many shells that I brought back with us and keep on my desk at work and at home to remind me of the wonderful time we had. We almost don't want to let the secret out about this place.
A guest from New York, NJ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2011 What a disaster. The land that time forgot. No cell phone service or poor service. Only one restaurant that did NOT do breakfast. Coffee and a cookie just doesn't cut it first thing in the morning, especially for an establishment that claims to be a resort. Rooms were pleasant but dated, with twin beds more appropriate for children. Had to rely on guys to pick us up in golf carts to get around the island. Call for a pick up... one in three chance your call would go through. We're supposed to bring our own food? Give me a break... I don't think so. The "general store" was more of a gift shop and there wasn't much food. Plenty of bait... you could eat well if you are a fish. Was very happy to leave; at least I could make a call or eat when I wanted to. Like being stranded on Gilligan's Island only worse; somehow I'm sure they would have figured out a way to make a cell phone call.
Joe D. from Orlando, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2011 WE HAD THE BEST TIME EVER. THIS WAS OUR 5TH TIME AND IT WAS THE BEST. THE AMAZING STAFF WAS AS GREAT AS THE PROPERTY AND WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR SAME TIME SAME PLACE
A guest from SAFTY HARBOR, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2011 the only problems we had with the condo were:1) front door lock would stick and the key did not work properly. 2) water pressure in down stairs shower was weak.3) garbage dissposal has a leak
A guest from Altamonte Springs, Florida does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2010 location was very inconvenient for beach access. No phone service so I could not access bellman. I eventually had to rent a golf cart. This was my fourth stay at the resort. This stay was not good especially since I had bragged tot he group about my prior visits. The unit needs screen repair, shower water ran out directly onto the ground below the unit. The carpet upon entering was badly stained and wet when we arrived. Sadly, I was very unhappy with this visit.
TRACEY H. from SAFTEY HARBOR, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 8 days in June, 2010 This was our 6th year staying, but first time in the Land's End cottages--we were really happy in them. Our particular unit (LE28) had some bugs and hadn't been updated, but we still enjoyed its size and location. We will definitely be reserving those cottages for next year.
A guest from PLACIDA, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2010 The property owner should install a grab-bar in the showers; the tubs are very slippery, high, and very difficult to get in and out of.
TRACY G. from INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2009 My husband, friends, and I have stayed at Palm Island Resort and at times at private residences for a number of years and found it to be just as beautiful as always.I was upset only that my reservation seemed to have gotten mixed up. My mom and dad got put into one room by the pool area that I'm used to staying at but it wasn't the three bedroom I had requested. Then, when they rented a golf cart they were told it had to be returned by 11 am on Saturday and we had made these reservations two months ahead of time. I was embarassed. They arrived before us and had never been there before and I wanted it to be perfect-it was her 60th birthday party. It all got straightened out, except we weren't in the newer area with the pool right there and I know there is a 2 bedroom loft condo because we've stayed in 1 or 2 of them. We had a great time at Rum Bay and enjoyed the live music. Sanibel has nothing on Palm Island when it comes to shelling! The condo was good. Vicki Junk-Wright's artwork was awesome-I wonder why her stationery isn't in the little shop-seems a good fit.Anyhow, we'll see you again soon. We returned all of the keys + one old one.Enjoy your jobs-who could really ask for more?Smiles, Tracy GarrettMy only recommedation would be to work on the break down in communication in the front office-we never ever had problems before. I will always recommend Palm Island Resort to my friends-most of my friends go there once or twice a year anyhow, but just advise to double check the reservations and golf cart availability.
Property Manager Response:
Dear Ms. Garrett, Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your experience. I will share your comments with our management staff. We look forward to your next stay with us! DJ Cutler, Director of Hospitality Operations
