Sallegrotte is situated amongst green meadows and shady woods near the breathtaking town of Civita di Bagnoregio (between Orvieto and Viterbo, the very heart of Tuscia) and faces the suggestive, breathtaking view of Valle dei Calanchi. It consists of 2 independent, well-furnished and very cozy units of different size comfortably sleeping a total of 18.

The farm lays on 50 hectares of fodder cropping and olive groves, with selected rearing of “Chianina” breed and competition horses. Along with natural farming, we produce honey and a delicious extra-virgin olive oil. Sallegrotte is very well connected with the Milan-Bologna-Florence-Naples A1 highway (the backbone of Italy) and represents the starting point for naturalistic, historical and cultural itineraries to Umbria (Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, Spoleto and Perugia) at only 15 km. and Lazio and Tuscany, with Viterbo, Bolsena lake, Bomarzo, Villa Lante, Castel d'Asso, Tarquinia, Siena, Florence, Rome and the prettiest Tirrenian shores at a stone’s throw. Several features such a very well-kept swimming pool, a large garden equipped with tables, chairs and a barbecue – so you can swim, relax, cook and eat outside – make of Sallegrotte one of the most comfortable, relaxing, ideal places to spend your holidays.

Sallegrotte is situated at approximately 500 meters on the sea level and is sheltered from excessive summer heat by the rich surrounding vegetation – plenty of flowers and scenty herbs in season. Both the house and the pool are independent and for individual use only. The property has been restored with extreme attention to the original structure and design and is now one of the prettiest properties in the area.

The main unit is on two floors and comfortably sleeps up to 12 people. The ground floor features a livingroom, a very large sitting-dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with a fireplace and a storage room, whereas the first floor is made of four bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and a view over the valley and/or the garden.

Comfortably sleeping 4, the smaller unit features a fully equipped kitchen, a livingroom and 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.

"This property is perfect for large groups looking for a relaxing stay away from the cities. It is remote but close enough to shops, nature (Lago di Bolsena, Cascata delle Marmore) and within an hour drive from very nice cities (Orvieto, Todi, Siena,...). The house can comfortably accomodate up to 18 people. Each room has its own bathroom which is a major plus. Eating is possible inside and outside for the whole group. The swimming pool is well equipped. The park is magnificient with deers all around. We would have appreciated a bit more equipment, such as a microwave oven, but nothing essential was really missing. A gorgeous location, deep-in-the-green, quiet, secluded; an amazing view on the valley from all windows; a beautiful and extremely comfortable house with everything one needs provided; a large, clean swimming pool; and the chance to see many beautiful art cities in an hour or so. The pictures do not do justice to this great farmhouse, which we believe is the ideal rental for a family or a group of friends. We ate outside under the vine trellis for every meal. The location was gorgeous, with an amazing viw over the Calanchi Valley and Civita di Bagnoregio, "the Dying City". The swimming pool was great, the kids wanted to go all the time - they also loved the deer showing up from time to time through the trees. While at the house, several families took day trips to Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, Lake Bolsena, the seashore and Rome. We enjoyed the underground caverns and the Duomo in Orvieto, and I particularly loved the fresh apricot gelato. "Everything within the house from ceiling to floor was carefully thought out and built/presented to a high spec, decorated with original or limited edition works of art or prints, and artesanal artefacts. Being in the middle of the countryside was both quiet and light, offering super views over the woods, the valley and breathtaking Civita di Bagnoregio from every window. The washing facilities were excellent, the heating was silent and effective, the pool a real blast. All the kitchen and dining equipment,the furniture and bedlinen were of excellent quality. The surroundings were delightful in every way, and safe for our young teenagers to come and go from the house. Good restaurants and shops are reachable in minutes, wonderful Bolsena lake, beaches, Orvieto, Perugia, all Tuscany and even Rome amazingly close, but a car is a must. "Our family spent a beautiful week in July 2011 here. The house is accurately represented on the webpage - it is large, clean, extremely comfortable, safe for the kids and perfectly located in a very green, rural area with a breathtaking view over the valley and the amazing town of Civita di Bagnoregio, a real jewel. Beacuse of its key location it was easy for us to explore wonderful Tuscia (don't miss Tuscania!), but a car is a must. The whole property is surrounded by woods populated by small deer coming to eat from your very hands from time to time (the children were delighted!), and the pool was a real enjoyment for all of us. The kitchen and the bathroom were perfectly equipped with all the necessary tools and we were provided with sufficient sheets, blankets, towels and all linens. Although a drawback could be the lack of an internet connection (an unavoidable toll for such a rural, peaceful setting) we managed pretty well with our laptop and a local USB stick (about 25 Euros).
