Cool in the Summer and warm in the Winter with air conditioning and a double heating system provided, this rental comfortably accommodates up to eight guests in three rooms (one bedroom with one queen-size bed and two singles that can be assembled to form another queen-size; another bedroom with a queen-size bed that can be split into two singles; a livingroom with a queen-size sofabed), one bathroom, kitchen, hallway and a small courtyard. As well as the rest of the house the kitchen is fully equipped and all the necessary cooking tools, dishes and silverware are provided, so to allow you to cook Italian (cookbooks are also provided) and dine al fresco in the courtyard featuring a table with chairs and an umbrella, if you like.

A washing machine, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a fridge with a freezer, a vacuum cleaner, an iron with its ironing board and many other items are provided along with a TV/DVD set, a stereo and fast ADSL internet connection – all brand new and in perfect working order, all included in the price. As for the furniture and the general decoration, they have been carefully selected by Anna Rita, the owner, at the top of her zest and care. A well-known painter and an excellent cook, she will help you with all the necessary hints about the house and the city in general, being available whenever you need her.

It is spacious, well equipped with household appliances and brilliantly located, near the heart of Bologna's historic district, with a supermarket, a cafe, restaurants, a pizzeria, and a tabacchi no more than a walk of two or three minutes away. The walk to Piazza Maggiore, the city's centre, takes perhaps seven minutes and leads through attractive streets. The apartment itself could sleep many people - there are two bedrooms and the large living room could serve as a bedroom - but there were only two of us, so we had all the room we had. Closet and drawer storage was plentiful. The apartment is scrupulously maintained and the owners, Anna Rita Dallolio and Piero Serena, treated us as if we were family. "Like Anna Rita's other rental in Bologna, Lavanda reflects the joie de vivre of its owner. Home-away-from-home isn't too much of an exaggeration, as one finds just about everything needed for an easy and comfortable stay--the kitchen and bathroom are especially well-stocked. All the staples, and then some, are there in the kitchen. Lavanda's location is ideal--two doors down from one of those hole-in-wall fruit/vegetable/wine/water/and various other essentials mini-markets, and two blocks from a supermarket. It's also just two blocks from the Via Farini; a five-minute walk to the Piazza Maggiore, and a ten-minute walk to the Giardini Margherita--a beautiful park with a cafe overlooking a lagoon. We were there for a chilly week in November and the apartment had plenty of heat; brand new air-conditioners suggest it will be plenty cool in summer. My husband and I will definitely be back. "Lavanda is definitely THE place to stay to enjoy the best of Bologna. Located in a smart area next to the Court of Justice, 200m from the supermarket, 500m from the closest Prada store ! wonderful arcades will lead you in a five-minute walk to the heart of the city (Piazza Maggiore). The flat in itself is a jewel : everything is new,from the central heating/air conditionning system to the electrical appliances and the furniture ; it is pristine clean (you could eat on the floor)and absolutely quiet. Just like home! The owners are the best hosts you could get and had prepared a VIP welcoming with fresh fruits,bus pass, wine bottle, the table was set for a snack with a delicious home-made ricotta cake, beds were done ...they even arranged to meet us earlier than expected... don't look for a 4-star hotel, choose Lavanda!!"
