The Grayling area is home to many opportunities for outdoor recreation. The area is best known for its fishing, canoeing, and snowmobiling. There are also several local trails and areas for skiing,biking,and hiking. In addition to the numerous (over 40!) lakes in the area, the AuSable and Manistee rivers offer superior trout fishing. We've had guests from as far away as Argentina coming to fish the 'holy waters' of the AuSable.If you aren't familiar with the rivers, or with fly fishing, consider hiring a local guide. We continue to operate the Woodland Motor Lodge as a clean, quiet family place that has served its customers well for over forty years. We have many repeat customers, and many who have been coming here for longer than we have owned it!
Enjoy privacy in wooded, scenic surroundings. Our large lot places our cabins facing a wooded central courtyard. Here you'll find an outdoor cooking area, with picnic tables and a barbeque pit. Cabin 32 was originally built as a full house for a previous owner's mother. It is quite large, about 1100 square feet, and nicely finished. It has two bedrooms, one queen bed each, a laundry room, full bath, and large kitchen and living room. It is very quiet, being surrounded by trees and set off from the other buildings. It has its own driveway with plenty of room for snowmobiles, boats, or other toys.
