Nestled amongst the 50' Spruce and Maple trees and 'protected' by a cedar post fence, the "Stockade" offers plenty of fun and R&R in this historic retreat. Within 1.5 hrs drive from Ottawa, Canada's capital or 15 minute drive of the village of Portland Ontario, this rustic charm property has lots to do for all ages.
Whether it's sitting in an Adirondack chair, looking out from The Point admiring the wonderful Big Rideau lake, diving off the dock, exploring the "Secret nature trails", wading in off the shoreline, or playing a game of badminton, your days will all go by too quickly. Either afternoon naps in the hammock with a good mystery story for Mum or Dad, or a game of volleyball or croquet for the kids, will lead into 'Happy Hour' in the Gazebo or a friendly game of Horseshoes. Then an evening of roasting marshmallows (on a clear night) or card and board games (on a rainy night) leave you sleepy for a comfortable rest in the three bedroom main house, four bedroom "Corral" or double bed 'Bunk house' (down by the lake).
When the birds or a beautiful sunrise wake you up the next morning, you get to do it all over again!

Big Rideau Lake is the largest of the Rideau Lakes making it the most sought after for its excellent fishing, boating and all of its amenities.

The Rideau Lakes Region is a great place to explore. You can take advantage of the great fishing, boating, swimming, water-skiing, or lock through the historic canal system to the other attached lakes and towns. In the surrounding towns and cities there are also lots of activities, and events to participate in including, golf, historic tours, boat tours, shopping restaurants, parties, and lots more!

This cottage is conveniently located not far off of highway #15 at the halfway point between Toronto and Montreal, 40 minutes from the Canada/USA border, and only one hour and 25 minutes from Ottawa. A great place for extended Families to congregate.

Beds are as follows: Main Cottage: two bedrooms with two single beds in each, and one room with a single bed, there is a three-piece bathroom in the hall between these rooms and another 3-piece bathroom downstairs, Bunk House: two bedrooms with a double bed in each, one bedroom with a single bed, one room with two singles, and a three-piece bathroom. Bunkie at the water: One bedroom with a double bed. In all 8 single beds and three double beds.
Linen service is included for bedding. Renters must bring their own towels, or they can be rented for $12/person (this includes three wash-cloths, three hand towels, three bath towels, and one bath mat).
