The Masseria (dating from the 1870s) is set in open countryside, yet less than a five minutes drive from the sea (and a selection of sandy beaches) and ten minutes from Monopoli (daily market, pretty medieval quarter, fishing boats, baroque cathedral, restaurants and shops). The main house is not currently in use but there are four apartments surrounding the original courtyard, each with its own private outdoor space and a wealth of original features. One of the apartments is let to an Italian family who are not usually there during the week except in high season and one belongs to the owners. There are two other apartments which can be taken together if desired (the larger apartment has a table which seats 8). This is an ideal choice for families wanting to relax in total peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. The fields immediately surrounding the Masseria are under cultivation and off limits but the surrounding roads are quiet and ideal for walking and bicycling Sleeps two adults and up to three children (plus cot and z-bed if needed), in two bedrooms Has a large, airy livingroom/dining room with a vaulted, whitewashed ceiling and an open fireplace. There are two armchairs and a table and chairs (seating up to eight people). The dining area opens onto a private shady terrace (with table and chairs and rattan sofa and armchairs) and the original orange grove. This area gets the sun late afternoon and sun loungers are also provided. The kitchen has marble work surfaces, hobs and oven and a large fridge freezer as well as a dishwasher and microwave. Bedroom one has twin beds (can be made up as a double, a wardrobe and chest of drawers and an air conditioning unit. Bedroom two has a wrought iron double bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Both rooms have air conditioning units and radiators. The bathroom has a shower (we can provide a large tub for shower-shy toddlers), basin, W.C and bidet.
