The Casa de Luz is a traditional Spanish house which has been beautifully renovated in the Moorish style around a central atrium with a translucent roof. The large roof terrace has breathtaking mountain views.
This beautiful house is ideal for large families or groups of friends. There are two double and three twin bedrooms, a large, modern, well-equipped kitchen, a spacious dining room, two living rooms, a bathroom and a shower room with toilets and a separate toilet on the ground floor. The house provides comfortable bedroom accommodation for a maximum of ten people, plus plenty of spacious living areas. The white, Egyptian cotton bedlinen and white cotton towels are changed weekly.
The large roof terrace with breathtaking views of the Sierra Tejada and Mount Maroma is perfect for sunbathing and outdoor dining.
Suitable for walkers, tourers, nature lovers, and for those who would like to try out or improve their Spanish, or enjoy the authentic experience of rural Spain, its harvests and fiestas
Friendly English owners are available for advice, information and an induction to the village amenties.
Almachar is one of Andalucia’s best kept sectrets. Created by the Moors in the 14th Century, it has the atmosphere of a small medaeval town with its whitewashed houses, narrow winding streets and shops concealed by curtains. It is an agricultural community, surrounded by vineyards, almond and olive trees.
The Cadogan Guide (2006) says:
"Almachar is an exquisite little village of tumbling houses and winding streets.... In spring and summer, the town is a riot of colours, with flowers spilling from every balcony, patio and window box"
Almachar lies about a 45mins drive from Malaga airport and 20mins from the coast. It has many small shops, bars and places to eat. It has two banks with ATMs, two swimming pools (one for adults and one for children), with a bar, open throughout the summer, a children's playpark, a cultural centre and a dentist and health centre. There are many fiestas in the village throughout the year. It is ideally situated for walking, birdwatching, painting and exploring the cities, coast and countryside of Andalucia. Traditional Fiestas take place tin the village and the surrounding region throughout the spring, summer and autumn. Nature and wildlife lovers will find many delightful places to walk in the nearby hills and countryside.
Beaches are readily available. Twenty minutes drive south of the village are the small Spanish resorts of Torre del Mar and Rincon de la Victoria, or drive 30 minutes east to the attractive seaside resort of Nerja. East of Nerja the deserted rocky coves of the small white hamlet of Maro offer opportunities for snorkeling.Malaga itself is a wonderful town, still largely undiscovered by tourists - well worth a visit for the new Picasso Museum, the Moorish Alcazabar, the Arab baths and excellent bodegas.
