The view from the terrace

A little village casita, completely self contained with a private terrace that looks out over the valley. An ideal romantic hideaway or writer's retreat, it is situated at the edge of the beautiful but little-known Moorish white village of Cutar. The wooden ceilings and clay floor tiles create a warm atmosphere, enhanced by handwoven rugs on the walls and floor, richly coloured furnishings and traditional Andalucian country furniture.
The cottage has been completely renovated inside and out the Andalucian style, preserving the traditional features, but including modern appliances. There is a spacious kitchen/diner living room with a gas hob, fridge and microwave, a double bedroom with antique bed and wardrobe and a bathroom with shower, batha and bidet.
Located off the main tourist route, Cutar has a lot of charm and is a quiet, traditional village with architecture that strongly reflects its Moorish heritage. In the shadow of the 16th Century church the white houses and small narrow streets tumble down the hillside. Because of the very mild semi-tropical climate, farmers grow mangos, avocados, citrus fruits, dates, figs, pomegranate, guava, sugar cane and the heavy, delicious Muscat grapes. The grapes are dried into raisins or made into the famous Malaga muscatel dessert wine. The village has a general store, a pharmacy, a bakery, two bars and the traditional way of Andalucian life. Banks, cash machines, supermarkets, restaurants and (in the summer) open air swimming pools can be found 5-10 minutes drive away in the neighbouring villages of El Borge, Almachar and Benamargosa. Drive 20 minutes south of the village to the small Spanish resorts of Torre del Mar and Rincon de la Victoria. Drive 25 minutes east to the attractive seaside resort of Nerja. East of Nerja, the deserted rocky coves of the small white hamlet of Maro and beyond, offer opportunities for snorkeling. Malaga itself is a wonderful town, still largely undiscovered by tourists - well worth a visit for the new Picasso Museum, the Moorish Alcazabar, the Arab baths and excellent bodegas. Traditional Fiestas take place in Cutar and nearby villages throughout the spring, summer and autumn and nature and wildlife lovers will find many delightful places to walk in the nearby hills and countryside.
