This oceanfront setting is like a dream. Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez "the Aquarium of the World," and his favorite sea fills two walls of glass in this expansive home.
The photos say it all. Stunning views...ultra-clear skies...and the only sounds you're likely to hear are the gentle surf and the ocean breeze.
The 700-square-foot great room offers four sets of French doors which open to a broad Spanish-style veranda. Spend the day reading, fire up the BBQ next to the hand-carved bar, or walk down your private stairs to enjoy miles of pristine white sand beach.
The full kitchen offers 20 feet of counter space, while a massive wooden dining table easily accommodates parties of 10 or 12.
Each of the three spacious bedrooms features a queen bed, while the two bathrooms feature huge modern showers. There is also a queen platform airbed for children or extra guests.
It takes only a few minutes to travel from this quiet beachfront neighborhood to all the shopping, restaurants, clubs, and other attractions of San Felipe. Dining options range from casual to fine. Regardless of which style you choose, you'll love the freshness, taste, and purity of the seafood-focused cuisine. (Arid Baja has none of the "issues" of mainland Mexico.)
The home features a 600-square-foot garage with RV doors, and ample parking. There is a private road to the beach, and you can easily launch watercraft at high tide.
Sunrise over the Sea of Cortez is a spectacular experience. At your doorstep await great wilderness adventures in untouched desert backcountry, where mountains soar over 10,000 feet. The sea offers kayaking, windsurfing, boating, fishing, and more. And sunset brings the finest skies you can see anywhere on the planet.
All just a five-hour drive from Los Angeles.
> Mapping for Mexico is a bit difficult. You can enter "San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico" in Google Maps, zoom out till you see El Dorado Ranch and Playa Hawaii north of San Felipe. Our home is on the beach in this area.
> Pets are welcome.
> Please smoke on the veranda.
> The closest road down to the beach begins about 150 feet above the entrance to the property. Turn right at the first opportunity, then follow the road right/left as it winds down to the sand. Motorcycles and ATVs are welcome. For four-wheeled vehicles, 4WD is highly recommended.
> Kayaks and other small watercraft can be launched easily from the beach. Be aware of the tides. At low tide, the ocean recedes far from the beach for a few hours.
> PWCs and boats on trailers can also be launched from the beach. A 4WD tow vehicle is essential. Again, be aware of the tides.
> The house features solar power with generator back-up, as well as propane refrigerator, stove, and water heater.
> There is a wood-burning fireplace, in the unlikely event that you need heat. Bring your own firewood, as you will find little/none in Baja.
> There are large markets in San Felipe, where you can get fresh food and everything else you might need.
> Wheelchair access to the home is easy. The showers are very large, but otherwise of standard design.
> Generally there is a three-night minimum, though we may make exceptions in some cases.
> Snowbird? Looking for a long-term retreat? Low rates are available to quality candidates.
